18th Sighthound Festi val at the Donaueschingen Polo Club – you are cordially invited!„Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest sighthound of all?“ Thus ti tles the press when reporti ng on the Sighthound Festi val at Donaueschingen. The local paper headlines: „Sighthound week-end, marvellous!“ The American „Sighthound Review“ is enthusiasti c about the “world class Sighthound event – now apparently the top Sighthound event in Europe (perhaps the world?)”. Therefore be part of it with your sighthound or mediterranian breed! This years‘ Special: Also Italian CACs will be awarded in cooperati on with the FCI Euro Sighthound Show at Padenghe del Garda in Italy.

The pre-registrati on is opened since Friday aft ernoon. So you may start the show weekend relaxed by avoiding waiti ng at the registrati on desk. Show your sighthound or mediterranianian breed in extra large show rings with a perfectly well-kept green at the horse riding stadium of the Polo Club. 18ième Festi val des Lévriers au Polo Club de Donaueschingen – vous êtes cordialement invités!

« Miroir, miroir en bois d’ébène, dis-moi, dis-moi que je suis le plus beau des lévriers ! » C’est ce que les agences d’informati on mett ent en vedett e à l’occasion du grand festi val des lévriers à Donau-eschingen. La presse locale en est raff olée et ti tre gros: «Le weekend des lévriers, c’est merveilleux! »

Une fois par an, au premier week-end du mois d’aout, la ville de Donaueschingen sera de nouveau au cœur du monde des lévriers. La «Sighthound Revue» américaine a même été jusqu’ à écrire: «expo d’élite mondiale – apparemment l’événement phare en Europe (et peut-être dans le monde enti er?). »Donc vous aussi prenez part avec votre lévrier ou votre compagnon d’une race méditerranéenne. Nouveauté cett e année: en supplément des certi fi cats du championnat italien seront att ribués en coopérati on avec l’expo FCI Euro Sighthound à Padenghe del Garda en Italie.

Valerie Hamilton (Hounds of Khiva) / USA Valerie Hamilton has had exposure to the dog show world since the early 1960s. Her family obtained their fi rst sighthound, a Borzoi, in 1964. A few years later, they had one of the US top-ten Borzoi and established the kennel name “The hounds of Khiva”. Valerie’s parents purchased a Whippet for her in 1971 so that she could parti cipate in junior showmanship competi ti on. This Whippet went on to be the foundati on bitch of Khiva’s Best in Show winning line of Whippets. Having always admired the elegance and dignifi ed spirit of the Saluki, Khiva purchased their fi rst Saluki in 1975. Valerie conti nues to show and breed Salukis and was approved by the AKC to judge several hound breeds. She was invited at championship and club shows in the States, Australia and many other countries around the world, including the presti gious Skokloster Summer Show in 2011.

Ute Lennartz (Mata Salamata’s Saluki) / Germany Dogs have always been part of Ute Lennartz‘ life. Her father was a passionate hunter, therefore hunting dogs and other breeds have been part of the family since her very early days. In the 60s Ute saw a Saluki for the first time and fell in love with this ancient breed. She knew by the first glance: If I ever could have a dog of my own, it had to be a Saluki! In 1976 Ute and her husband acquired their first dog. It was a Saluki. This was the beginning of her „canine life“. Today she co-owns the world famous „Mata Salamata‘s“ kennel together with Jakob Pribil. Beeing licensed as breed judge for Saluki, Sloughi, Azawakh and Afghan Hounds since 1993, Ute Lennartz judged major events and Saluki specialties worldwide in many European countries, the United States and even Japan. This year she was elected head of the breeding board of the German Sighthound Association and was approved by the German Kennel Club as group judge for all Sighthounds.

Knut Fr Blütecher (Showline Greyhounds & Whippets) / Norway Knut Blütecher was acti ve in horses from childhood. The Greyhound meant to him the canine version of a thoroughbred horse, so it was natural to purchase a Greyhound when ti me was ready. That happened in 1971 and he has had the breed ever since. The prefi x „Showline“ was registered in 1974. Ever since the establishment of this very small kennel, it has been in the spotlight in the strongest competi ti ons in Scandinavia, USA, UK and rest of Europe. At present, Showline’s top winning bitch is from the 7th generati on from imports of the 70s. Multi -Ch. “Showline Sporti ng Step” has 28 Group wins and 13 BIS all breeds on her record and was No 3 Dog of the Year in Norway in 2009 and 2011. Recently Knut and his successful homebred Greyhound were in

the fi nals of the last top ten dogs worldwide at the Eukanuba World Challenge. The Showline kennel has had just three litt ers in Whippets, but did very well indeed. The most famous one was Int.Ch. Showline Statuett e, Top Bitch all Breeds in Norway in 1995. Knut is approved to judge some 20 diff erent breeds at internati onal level and was judging sighthounds at the largest internati onal Championship Shows nearly all around the world, including England and the US.

Irene Naarti s (Oshanameh’s Afghan Hounds) / EstoniaAs long as Irine Naarti s can remember, breeding and showing dogs has been a big part of her family‘s live. Afghan Hounds and Miniature Smooth Dachshounds bred under the prefi x „Oshanemeh’s“ have been exported to many countries worldwide including Russia, the UK and the United States. The foundati on of the Afghan Hound breeding programme is based on old Scandinavian lines „Boxadan“ and „el Khyrias“. Some 30 years ago the fi rst imported Afghan Hound came from Germany out of the kennel „el Gharib“. The latest newcomer recently was imported from Chile of the „Von Haussmann“ kennel. Over the years other breeds like Great Danes or Pharaoh Hounds came as “tourist breeds” in the family. Irene is involved both in the Estonian Kennel Club and the Estonian Sighthound Club as counselor and board member. Beside acti viti es in shows, she is very much involved in lure coursing. Irene Naarti s is an approved lure coursing judge and became the representati ve of her country at the FCI Sighthound Racing Commission. She has been judging sighthound specialiti es, all breed nati onal and internati onal shows in many East European and Scandinavian countries, in Switzer-land as well as the Afghan Hound Club of NSW 90th specialty in Australia and the show of winners in Denmark.

Beatrix Märki-Casanova (Bou Saâda Afghan Hounds) / Switzerland Animals have enriched Beatrix‘ life from her early childhood on. She grew up in company of dogs as well as cats and rabbits. At the age of 10 years, another passion took place in her life: horses, horse riding and show jumping. 1975, while living in Paris, she acquired her fi rst Afghan Hound “Lagash” and since this ti me, a lot of them shared her life. She bred this breed under the prefi x “Bou Saâda” and many dogs have acquired cham-pion ti tles (conformati on and working). Beatrix is acti ve for 30-odd years in the board of diff erent clubs: The Sighthound Club of Switzerland, breed clubs for Afghan Hounds, Irish Wolfh ounds, Saluki and Borzoi. Since many years she is responsible for the judges educati on in Switzerland. A bitch out of the last “Bou Saâda” litt er is now sharing Beatrix‘ and her husband’s life, together with 2 adopted Afghan Hounds and a rescued Galgo from Spain. Beatrix Märki Casanova is approved by the FCI as group judge for all sighthounds and

judged all over Europe as well as the Borzoi Specialty of Ontario (Canada) and the Nati onale d’Elevage of the French Borzoi Club. In 2011 she will be the organizer of the Internati onal Borzoi Conference held in Fribourg/Switzerland.

André van den Broek (of the Netherlands Pharaoh Hounds / Gustopsowaya’s and Modnyabistru Borzois) / NetherlandsAndré van den Broek is involved in dogs since 1968 when he started with a Whippet. Due to the fact that he wanted to explore his interest in dogs he succeeded to become a judge for Whippets in 1981. During this ti me his att enti on was drawn to the Pharaoh Hound by a fi rst picture of the breed seen at “The Gaze-hound” magazine. In 1982 the fi rst Pharaoh Hounds “of the Netherlands” were born. André was very successful as breeder with several Best in Show and Group winners. Pharaoh Hounds „of the Netherlands“ were exported in many countries including the US. One of his males was used for breeding in the UK. This litt er produced 4 English Champions and amongst them the CC-record holder in the breed: “Ezhar The Colonel”. André got involved with borzois in handling, co-owning and co-breeding with lots of success in the past („Gustopsowaya’s“) and currently with “Modnyabistru” Borzois. Unti l the year 2000 he extended his judging-license and became group judge for sighthounds and mediterranean breeds with appointments all over Europe including Great Britain and Russia. This judging included several sighthound and breed specialti es of his own breeds: the Borzoi specialty in Russia, France, Finland, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands as well as the Swedish, Finish and English Pharaoh Hound specialty. André already judged the Skokloster summer show, European Winner and World Dog Shows. This year he is also invited to judge Borzois at a specialty in Australia.

Zulassungnur Hunde, die im DWZB oder einem von der FCI anerkannten Zuchtbuch einge-tragen oder registriert sind, und am Tag vor der Ausstellung das Mindestalter der jeweiligen Klasse vollendet haben (s. a. Angaben auf beiliegendem Meldeschein).Bei Meldung in der Gebrauchshund- oder Champion-Klasse müssen die entsprechenden Nachweise als Kopie der Meldung beigefügt sein, ansonsten wird der Hund in die Off ene Klasse gesetzt. Doppelmeldungen sind nicht zulässig. Das Meldegeld ist in jedem Falle zu bezahlen. Verhinderung an der Teilnahme entbindet nicht von der Zahlungspfl icht.

Veterinär-Besti mmungen

Änderung der Deutschen Tollwut-Verordnung (Anpassung an die neuen EU-Besti mmungen) Tollwutschutzimpfung. Die Hunde, die zu einer Veranstaltung (Ausstellung) gebracht werden, müssen nachweislich mindestens drei Wochen vor der Veranstaltung gegen Tollwut geimpft worden sein. (Impfausweis/EU-Heim-ti erpass mitbringen) Die Tollwutschutz-impfung ist, vom Tag der Impfung an, 12 Monate gülti g. Wenn eine längere Gülti g-keit geltend gemacht werden soll, muss dies durch Eintragung der Gülti gkeit im Impfausweis bzw. im EU-Heimti erpass im Feld „Gülti g bis“ nachgewiesen werden. Wenn bei einem gegen Tollwut geimpft en Hund vor Beendigung der Gülti gkeit der bestehenden Impfung die Nachimpfung gegen Tollwut erfolgt, so entf ällt die sogenannte 3-Wochen-Frist.

Haft ung/Sonsti gesEine Haft ung für den rechtzeiti gen Ein-gang der Meldungen und Aufnahme im Katalog wird nicht übernommen. Bei Aus-fall der Veranstaltung aus Gründen, die der Ausrichter nicht zu vertreten hat, wird ebenfalls keine Haft ung übernommen. Eine Umbesetzung der Richter behält sich der Ausrichter vor. Die Vergabe von Wertnoten und Anwartschaft en liegt im Ermessen des Richters, es besteht kein Rechtsanspruch darauf. Die Zuchtschau ist vom VDH und der Zuchtschaubeauft rag-ten des DWZRV genehmigt. Ahnentafel oder Hundepass ist mitzubringen und auf Anforderung vorzulegen. Die Zuchtschauordnung sowie die sonsti gen Besti mmungen werden mit Abgabe der Meldung anerkannt.

Bitt e beachten Sie, dass Caravanstell-plätze nur von Freitag bis einschließlich Montag mitt ags (5.-8. August) zur Verfü-gung stehen. Eine Anreise vor Freitag ist nicht möglich.

Admitt anceOnly dogs registrated in a stud book or register recognized by the FCI are admit-ted to the show, if they have completed the minimum age of six months on the day prior to the show. The pedigree of the registered dogs, the working certi fi cate for working dogs as well as the proof of championship ti tles must accompany the entry form. No double entries admitt ed. Entry fees have to be payed once an entry has been made.

Veterinary conditi ons/ rabies vaccinati on

The dogs being brought to an event (show) must have proof to show they have been vaccinated against rabies at least three weeks before the start of the show (bring vaccinati on documents/ EU pet pass). The rabies vaccinati on is valid for 12 months from the day of the vaccinati on. If a longer period is to be made valid, then this extended period must be noted offi cially in the vaccinati -on documents or in the pet pass in the fi eld marked “valid unti l”. If a dog receives a re-vaccinati on against rabies within the validity period, then the so-called 3 week deadline no longer applies.

Liability The organizer cannot be claimed respon-sible for non recepti on of entry forms or missed admission in the show catalogue. The show giving Club, the agents and organizers assume no responsibity if the show cannot take place for any cause beyond the control of club or persons responsible, or for any loss, damage or injury sustained by exhibitors, handlers, or to any of their dogs or property.The club may change the judges list if necessary. A judge has full discreti onary power and his decision is fi nal in all cases aff ecti ng the merits of the dogs. The show is confi rmed by the VDH and by the responsible authority in the DWZRV. Please make sure to have your dogs‘ pedigree available upon request.The show rules have to be acknowledged and followed by all exhibitors.

Car Parking & Camping SiteNEW: Modernised bath rooms and shower area on the ground.A parking area is available in direct neighborhood to the showground (daily charge of € 3.-); camping site with electricity supply for motorhomes and caravans (daily charge of € 12.-).

Please note: The camping site is only available from Friday to Monday at nonn (August, 5 to August 8). Arrivals will not be possible before Friday.

Conditi ons véterinaires: vaccinati on contre la rage

Les chiens amenés à un événement (expositi on) doivent avoir été vaccinés contre la rage au moins 3 semaines avant l’événement, preuves à l’appui (carnet de vaccinati on / carte d’identi té Europé-enne pour animaux domesti ques). La vaccinati on contre la rage est valide 12 mois à parti r du jour de la vacci-nati on. Si une durée de validité plus longue est revendiquée, celle-ci devra être explicitement menti onnée sur le carnet de vaccinati on/carte d’identi té Européenne pour animaux domesti ques au cadre „Durée de validité“. Au cas où une vaccinati on répétée serait eff ectuée sur un chien déjà vacciné contre la rage avant la fi n de validité de l’ancienne vaccinati on, alors le délai de 3 semaines ne sera pas appliqué.

Règlements et responsabilitésL‘organisateur de l‘expositi on décline toute responsabilité pour les inscripti ons hors délai ainsi que les menti ons dans le catalogue. Il décline également toute responsabilité en cas d‘annulati on de l‘expositi on pour une raison non dépendante de sa volonté. Le club se réserve le droit de modifi er la liste des juges si nécessaire. Les décisions des juges sont irrévocables. L‘expositi on est autorisée par le VDH et le DWZRV. Le pedigree sera à présenter sur demande. Le respect du règlement des conditi ons d’expositi on du DWZRV/VDH est obliga-toire. L’engagement simultané d’un chien en plusieurs classes n’est pas admis. Les droits d’inscripti on sont à régler directe-ment sur place.
