He climbed a tree to get a better look. Zacchaeus was happy but the crowd was angry because he was a bad man. Jesus was visiting the city of Jericho. Lots of people came to see him. Jesus stopped under the tree and told Zacchaeus to come down as he wanted to go to his house. A rich man named Zacchaeus wanted to see Jesus but he was too small to see over the crowds. Zacchaeus said he was sorry for being bad. He promised to give half of his money to charity and pay back anyone he cheated.
