FACES (Finding A Cure For Epilepsy & Seizures)

Patient and Family Support Programs

Dr. Blanca Vazquez Summer Camp Scholarship Program

Awards financial assistance to children with epilepsy and seizure

disorders to attend a summer camp of their choice. Parents

must complete an application and meet eligibility requirements.

The Parent Network

Connects parents of newly diagnosed patients with parent

mentors who have experienced caring for a child with

epilepsy. This program aims to provide assistance in learning

how to navigate the hospitalization process, educational

services and social support resources.

Diet & Nutrition Program

FACES funds the nutrition/dietetics program at the NYU

Langone Comprehensive Epilepsy Center. Since 2012, we

have provided modified Atkins and Ketogenic diet therapy to

over 500 patients.

FACES Apartments

Provides cost-free accomodations to families traveling to NYU

Langone Health for inpatient epilepsy treatment or evaluation.

Space is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Game Day

A fun-filled afternoon of carnival games, food, crafts and

activities. Children with epilepsy and seizures, their siblings,

family and friends are welcome to attend.

FACES Young Professionals Support Group

Designed for young adults with epilepsy who are treated at

NYU Langone Health and referred by the interdisciplinary team

at the Epilepsy Center. All sessions are facilitated by a licensed

social worker. Please contact [email protected] for

Events & Giving Back

FACES Gala

A memorable and inspiring evening that offers an

opportunity for members of our FACES community to

celebrate and raise funds for our mission. Support FACES

by purchasing tickets or tables, donating or bidding on a

wide array of items in the live and silent auction.

FreshFACES

A social fundraising event that brings together supporters for

an evening of food, beverage, entertainment and awareness.

Endurance Events

Interested in a spot in the NYC Marathon, Half-Marathon

or Tri? Join TeamFACES to raise funds and spread

epilepsy awareness.

Third Party Events

Individuals, businesses or groups can sponsor or host an

event to raise funds for FACES at NYU Langone Health.

All third party fundraising events require prior approval

and must go through an application process.

Volunteering

FACES has a variety of opportunities for volunteer work.

WHAT WE DO:

Educational Programs

Peace of Mind Lecture Series

A series of lectures open to the public to help educate

patients and family members. Lectures are given by

physicians and other professionals affiliated with the

Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at NYU Langone Health.

Annual Epilepsy Conference

An annual one-day conference that brings together

world-renowned doctors and researchers to present

pioneering information on the treatment of epilepsy and

seizures to patients and their caregivers.

FACES Newsletters

The newsletters cover FACES programs and activities

and feature articles written by patients, caregivers, and

staff of the NYU Langone Comprehensive Epilepsy Center.

College Scholarship Program

Provides financial assistance to students affected by

epilepsy and seizure disorders. Incoming freshmen,

or those presently enrolled in college or a technical/

vocational school must complete an application and

meet eligibility requirements.
