Luke 8:22-2522One day Jesus got into a boat

with his disciples and said to them, "Let us go across to the other side of the lake." So they started out.

23As they were sailing, Jesus fell asleep. Suddenly a strong wind blew down on the lake, and the boat began to fill with water, so that they were all in great danger.

woke him up, saying, "Master, Master! We are about to die!" Jesus got up and gave an order to the wind and the stormy water; they died down, and there was a great calm.

25Then he said to the disciples,

"Where is your faith?"

through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.

Hebrews 11:1 (NLT)1 What is faith? It is the

confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see.

1. Refuse to be controlled by your feelings and fear

Exercise claiming faith John 3:16

“For God so loved the world that He gave His begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him may not perish but have eternal life.”

1 John 1:9

“If we confess our sins to God, he is faithful and just, and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Faith is not a feeling.

1 John 5: 11 – 1311 And this is what God has testified: He has

given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has God’s Son has life; whoever

does not have His Son does not have life.”13 I write this to you who believe in the Son of

God, so that you may know you have eternal life.”

2. Remind yourself of what God can do

• Exercise creative faith Luke 7: 6-106 “Lord, don’t trouble yourself by coming to

my home, for I am not worthy of such an honour. 7 I am not even worthy to come and

meet you. Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed.

2. Remind yourself of what God can do

• Exercise creative faith Luke 7: 6-108 I know because I am under the authority of

my superior officers, and I have authority over my soldiers. I only need to say, ‘Go,’ and they go, or ‘Come,’ and they come. And if I say to my slaves, ‘Do this or that,’ they do it.”

2. Remind yourself of what God can do

• Exercise creative faith Luke 7: 6-109 Jesus was amazed and said, “I tell you, I

haven’t seen faith like this in all the land of Israel!” 10 And when the officer’s friends returned to his house, they found the slave completely healed.

• 1 John 5:4b“And we win the victory over the world by means of our Faith.”

• Romans 8: 37We are more than conquerors

through Him who loved us.

• Exercise conquering faith 2 Corinthians 4:1616 We do not give up. Though our

bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.

• Exercise conquering faith Romans 8:1818 Yet what we suffer now is nothing

compared to the glory He will give us later.

• Exercise conquering faith Hebrews 11: 35b35 But others trusted God and were tortured,

preferring to die rather than turn from God and be free. They placed their hope in the resurrection to a better life.

39 All of these people we have mentioned received God’s approval because of their faith…
