Qualifications for a Virtual Buddy

• The student must agree to have a Virtual Buddy

• The student must have a chance to realistically pass the class and has been attempting.

• The parents permission for the program must be obtained by the teacher.

• The schools must be accessible to the student for assistance.

• The teacher will respond to the Virtual Buddy correspondence.

What is a Virtual Buddy?

• Helps a student navigate the course• Help with course work when possible• Ease the stress of learning online.• Help the student catch up• Provide positive reinforcement and

Motivation• Works/communicates with the

classroom teacher • Work on:

– Improving study habits– Time management– Working efficiently

Teacher Tasks

1. Get approval and participation promises from the student, parent and DLA

2. Check in a minimum of once a week/reply to tutor’s weekly summary.

3. Support with recommended strategies for the student.

4. Periodical complements and things for the Virtual Buddy.

5. Follow up with the VB director and reporting times.

DLA Tasks

1. Monitor the process and visit with the student on a weekly basis

2. Work with the teacher to communicate progress with the VB

Parent Responsibility

1. Establish a conducive work environment2. Establish a work schedule and monitor the

student for focus on classroom work.3. Provide positive reinforcement for the student

for meeting goals.
