AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM (ASE) – SPRING 2016
The PTA is excited to announce the Spring 2016 After School Enrichment (ASE) schedule! Get ready for more fun, interactive and
skill-building classes. It’s all done for you--great instructors, popular topics, and the convenience of having it right at school!
This is a school fundraiser. Participation in this program will help support the purchase of a playground for 2nd & 3rd grades!!!
DAY & TIME INFORMATION • Classes are held from 2:20 – 3:30 pm on either Wednesday or Thursday. At 2:15 pm--the end of the school day—homeroom
teachers escort ASE students to the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR) to meet their instructors.
• At 3:30 pm ASE ends, and instructors escort ASE students to their designated dismissal location: car rider, walker, HOST or
Rec Center.
• Classes run February 24th through April 21st, 2016 for 8 sessions. There will be no classes the week of March 14th (Spring
Break).
REGISTRATION is Wednesday, February 10th and Thursday, February 11th

Picked up at the car line (Bus loading zone outside the MPR). Please stay in your car for safety purposes.
DO NOT WALK up to get your child from the car line. An ASE instructor/helper will escort your child to the car.
Walking home – The pick-up area is at the *WALKER GATE* (please note change from previous sessions)
Escorted to the Westchase HOST program – Your child needs to be enrolled in the program.
Escorted to the Rec Center – Your child needs to be enrolled in the program.

• Please bring registration forms to the front office or to your childʼs homeroom teacher. Forms are accepted at school only. • CLASSES WILL BE FILLED BY LOTTERY DAILY. Forms will be collected from the front office and classrooms at 8:30 each day of
registration. Turning in the form on Wednesday gives your student a better chance of receiving their first choice than Thursday, but is not a
guarantee. 90% of the forms are turned in the first day. All forms turned in by 8:30 are entered into a daily lottery.
• If your childʼs first choice has been filled, they will be placed in their next available choice. Please be sure to include a second (and third)
choice selection for your child to help ensure placement. If all of your childʼs choices are filled, your registration fee will be returned to you
through your childʼs teacher.

My child has my permission to participate in the Spring 2016 ASE Program at Westchase Elementary. I understand that it is my responsibility to arrange for transportation home for my child promptly at 3:30 p.m. if they are not enrolled in Westchase HOST program or the Rec. Center. Please be prompt in picking up your child; the second late pick-up will result in an additional $10 fee; the third late pick-up will result in a $25 additional fee; more than three may result in your childʼs dismissal from the program.
Westchase Elementaryʼs code of conduct applies to each ASE class. First disruption will result in a phone call to the parents; second will
be a one class suspension; third disruption will be dismissal from the program with no fees refunded. Prorated refunds will be offered for withdrawal
from class during the first two weeks of classes.

ART CLASSICS - Wednesday K-5, $90
This class is full of Mrs. Campbell’s favorite projects. It’s a great one to sign up for if you have never taken a lesson with her before OR if you
started last fall. Projects include: Monet’s bridge, 3-D cake, primary fruit bowl, elephant sunset silhouette, and more! Taught by Jessica Campbell

NEW! BOARD GAME BUDDIES - Wednesday 2-5, $90.
Come and have fun playing all your favorite board and card games and learn some new ones while having fun with your friends. Board games
are great for unwinding but also for building teamwork, patience, cooperation and good sportsmanship. Taught by Westchase Elementary 1st
Grade Teacher Mrs. Ramella.
NEW! BRICKS 4 KIDZ - LEGO® CITY: TAMPA EDITION – Wednesday K-5, $90
You live in Tampa, but do you know the HISTORY of Tampa? CHESS - Wednesday K-5, $90
Who is stronger: the Queen or the King? Do Knights jump over things in their way? Come find out how to do battle on a chess board, and improve your gameplay. Full instruction for players of all levels in this classic sport. Chess sets will be provided. This fun and energetic class is taught by Chess Coach Ryan Statz. CRAFTY KIDS - Wednesday K-3, $90
Do you like arts and crafts? Do you like to cut, glue, and paint? If you said yes, this club is for you. We will complete several new fun projects. We
will paint, we will glue, and we will make new friends while having fun. It’s your chance to get creative! Taught by Westchase Elementary 3rd Grade
teachers Mrs. Clements and Mrs. Rosello.
NEW! ADVENTURES IN ENGINEERING: PRINCESS POWER! - Wednesday K-3, $90
Create structures like Frozen’s Elsa, solve problems like Shrek’s Fiona and float like Little Mermaid’s Ariel! Put your princess power to work to
engineer your way through classic and modern princess stories! Students will re-imagine and re-enact escapes, rescues and battles while

HIP HOP DANCE - Wednesday 1-3, $90
Mrs. Kimmerling, former University of Kentucky dance team member, will be teaching your little one hip-hop routines! Before getting warmed up, students will be provided a snack to give them energy. Students will learn one routine a week. This group is open to both boys and girls! Taught by Westchase Elementary 2nd Grade Teacher Mrs. Kimmerling. LEGO® ROBOTICS – Wednesday 4-5, $90
Students will use the LEGO WeDo robotics program to build LEGO models featuring working motors and sensors and program their models. Students will build robots and use software to plan, test and modify sequences of instructions from a variety of real life robotic behaviors. Taught by Westchase 3rd grade teacher, Mr. Rath and former Westchase teacher, Mrs. Steinfeld. NEW! MUSICAL PERFORMANCE – Wednesday K-2, $90
This course will use a variety of rhythm instruments with a focus on the guitar. Children will learn how to form a musical group and use teamwork
to write and perform an original song as a group. This includes basic theory and songwriting skills as a foundation to becoming a songwriter in
any genre. Taught by Westchase Kindergarten teacher, Mr. Elmore.
NEW! NXT ROBOTICS – Wednesday 4-5, $90
In NXT robotics you will get the chance to start computer coding and working with an intelligent brick. You will use various attachments to
complete tasks on an obstacle course layout. From the participants, 8 students will be chosen to be members of a team that would compete
against other schools in the district on May 20th! Taught by Westchase 5th grade teachers Mrs. Brown & Mr. Heringer.
OUTDOOR GAMES – Wednesday K-5, $90
Do you love PE? Get outside and have fun playing outdoor games for a full hour with Coach Lockwood & Coach Jackson. Sure to include class
favorites like Jedi and more. Taught by Westchase teachers Coach Lockwood & Coach Jackson.
NEW! SHOW ON THE ROAD – Wednesday 1-5, $90
Join us for a class packed with singing, acting and dancing! Students begin with developing audition skills and repertoire, and continue to study
character and script analysis, using songs and scenes from classical musical theatre. The course concludes with an in-class performance of
scenes and songs from Rodger's and Hammerstein's Cinderella. Taught by Carissa Gibson of Show on the Road Tampa. For more information,

SPANISH 101 – Wednesday K-5, $90
Hola! Bienvenidos! Are you interested in learning beginning Spanish? Come experience an interactive and exciting way of learning the language with Westchase Teacher Senora Cooper.
NEW! WIFFLE BALL/KICK BALL – Wednesday 3-5, $90
Play Ball! Mr. Choura will be running an after school wiffle ball & kick ball program for the Spring ASE. Wiffle ball will be played using regular
baseball rules and students in grades 3-5 may participate (boys and girls). Taught by Westchase 5th grade teacher, Mr. Choura

THURSDAY CLASS DESCRIPTIONS – SPRING 2016
ALL SPORTS - Thursday K-5, $90
Protential Sports will be instructing an all sports class. During the program your child will learn the basics of all sports such as: soccer, basketball, baseball, flag football, lacrosse, golf, etc. Protential Sports teaches sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork, and other life skills through athletics. NEW! BOOK BAKERS - CUPCAKES! - Thursday K-3, $90
Children's literature comes to the kitchen! Book Bakers - Cupcakes! combines fun, children's literature, and cupcake decoration. This class will
motivate young readers to enjoy a story, and then learn how decorate cupcakes to look like the characters in the book. Please be advised that this club may not be suitable for children with food allergies. Taught by Westchase Elementary 3rd Grade Teachers Mrs. Clements and Mrs. Rosello.
NEW! BRICKS 4 KIDS - LEGO® SPRING MASHUP CLASS – Thursday K-5, $90
Experience a different LEGO® theme each week such as Star Wars, Superheroes & Villains, Minecraft and much more! Your Master Builder will have a chance to create motorized models, color brick builds and our NEW LEGO® Mosaics. Fly high, test your strength, and design superpowered structures based on the most famous DC and Marvel comics! Whether creating a gadget for Batman, slinging Spiderman’s web or testing Captain America’s shield, students will re-imagine and re-enact escapes, rescues and battles while collaborating and learning STEM concepts. HANDS ON SCIENCE – Thursday K-3, $90
Students will explore all the Sciences; earth, life and physical science using fun, hands-on experiments. Students will also come home with their
experiments so that they can continue the learning at home. There will be many new experiments along with some favorites from the past. So it
you loved it last year, you’re in for new and exciting fun. Taught by Westchase 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Rucker and former Westchase teacher,
Mrs. Steinfeld
JEWELRY CLUB – Thursday 1-3, $90
Do you love jewelry? Do you enjoy being crafty? Mrs. Kimmerling and Mrs. Ramella will be leading Jewelry club this spring! Each session you
will be creating a new piece of jewelry to wear! We are looking forward to lots of fashion and fun. Taught by Westchase Elementary 2nd Grade
Teacher Mrs. Kimmerling and 1st Grade Teacher Mrs. Ramella.

It’s never too early to start learning the art of photography and taking portraits. The class will cover camera basics. Students will also learn to edit and create collages. A point and shoot or DSLR camera is required. Taught by Veronica Moreda, Westchase Parent.
SPANISH 201 – Thursday K-5, $90
¿Como Estas? ¿Como se llama? If you can answer these questions in Spanish, you’re ready for the next level with Senora Cooper. Come have
fun learning more everyday Spanish phrases and words. This is a follow-up to Spanish 101. Completion of that class or basic Spanish language
skills required for this class. Taught by Westchase teacher Senora Cooper.
TIVITZ - Thursday 3-5, $90
Do you like Math? Do you like competing and using strategic ways to beat your competitors while practicing your multiplication tables? Then TiVitz
is for you!!! Join us in playing this exciting strategy board game that requires you to use your computation skills and algebraic reasoning to move
your team of tivots. You might even represent the school in the district's TiVitz competition. Guided by Ms. Corujo, Westchase AGP Teacher.
