About UKM• Since its establishment on May 18, 1970, Universiti KebangsaanMalaysia (UKM) has not only fulfilled the vision of its founding fathers toaccord Bahasa Melayu as the language of learning and scholarship buthas also successfully produced intellectuals and scholars who are amongthe nation’s pride.

• Starting out with only three faculties, it has since grown into 13faculties, 13 research institutes of excellence and two commercialentities, UKM Holdings Sdn. Bhd. and UKM Technology Sdn. Bhd. It hasthus grown not just in size, but also stature, becoming a researchinstitute in various fields of study including operating various researchcentres.

• Aware of the changes taking place in the academic landscape, UKM istaking steps to address them. One, is through e-Learning to preparestudents through innovative teaching and forward–looking curriculum tomeet demands of the new economic needs. Secondly, it nurturesresearch to provide solutions to pressing problems and at the same timeengage with the community and industry, as a sustainable developmentinitiative both at the national and international levels.
