English Language Arts

Math• Brand new text book series>

Envisions! • Math skills in the classroom will

be reinforced through a variety of math manipulatives. Students will be encouraged to show their work and to incorporate language into math by explaining their answers.

• This year’s test is aligned to the new Common Core Learning Standards

Social Studies• Students will be learning

all about New York State following a chronological timeline that emphasizes key moments in history.

• Students will complete one biography report on a famous New Yorker!

• This year, students will be researching and writing about New York history!

Science• Students will be learning

the Scientific Method while conducting hands-on experiments in class.

• NO Individual Science Fair project is required

• Students will be taking the Elementary Level Science test for NY in May and June

Book Reports• Students read independently

almost every day in class.• They are asked to complete

book reports in school and at home.

• All completed book reports are kept in a binder to be shared with classmates.

• A schedule of required home book reports will be available online on our websites.

Classroom Rules & Consequences

• All students have agreed upon and understand the rules of the classroom.

• Consequences include a verbal warning, loss of recess time, note to parent, and a visit to the principal if necessary.

• Praise and rewards are given for respecting rules and following them.
