THE 2016 ANNUAL MINISTRIES APPEAL (AMA) KICK-OFF: For our parish will be next weekend, February 13 – 14. The theme of the AMA this year is “Together, we proclaim God’s merciful love.” Our parish mailing has gone out to all registered parishioners. Our parish goal is $72,000 (we are obligated to give the diocese $38,100). Bishop Richard Garcia has also sent a personal letter and pledge envelope to each person who donated to last year’s AMA. We apologize in advance if you receive two letters. If you participated last year, please consider an increase to your gift. Please either bring your pledge envelope to Mass next weekend (extra envelopes and brochures will be in the pews) or if you choose to send your pledge envelope directly back to the diocese, they will notify us. Our ultimate goal is 100% participation. Please pray and ponder how you will respond to this call to carry on Christ’s work in our parish, our diocese and community. El tema de AMA de este año es “Juntos proclamamos el amor misericordioso de Dios.” Nuestra correspondencia se enviara el 8 de febrero a los feligreses registrados, y les pedimos que regresen su sobre con la donación en la segunda coleta del 13-14 de febrero (habrá sobres extras en las bancas). El Obispo Garcia enviara una carta personal a cada persona que hizo una donación el año pasado al AMA. Si usted recibe dos cartas les pedimos nos disculpen. Si usted participo el año pasado le pedimos y haga un incremento en su donación. BIBLE STUDY - Are things heating up in your life? Don’t despair! If life has pushed you too far, it is time to rise up with the attitude of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, three young Superheroes of the Old Testament who knew what it meant to go through the fire. Come join us Thursday evening from 7 – 8:30 pm at 14 Stone St. Bring a bible and expect to be encouraged!
ARISE: Sacred Heart Church and the ARISE team thank all of the 120 parishioners that participated in the English and Spanish groups of Season Three of ARISE. It was amazing how this program reached people of different race, language, and ages from 8 to 85 years old!!!, which helped them in different ways. Below are some of their experiences: “I was leader for the first time, at the beginning I was afraid but with God’s help I had a great experience as leader and sharing my faith with others,” “People was pleased that they could choose day and time of their preference, ” “I enjoyed sharing my worries, praying, and learning that I’m not the only one with family problems,” “We enjoyed collecting socks and blankets for the homeless,” “We enjoyed being part of this group and we’ll continue meeting until the fourth season starts,” “I learned to be comfortable sharing my faith and my experiences, it was profound,” “Learning how to reach out to people in need was a great experience because I could teach my daughter to see the homeless with compassionate eyes and do not be afraid of them,” “Praying for each other I felt united in Christ,” “I have a partner and after being part of this group I’m considering get married,” “I feel my faith stronger,” “Giving to the homeless information about the services that Salinas has for them was a great commitment to build a better community”. Children were hungry to know more, some of their questions were: “How is going to be the end of the world? LEVANTATE: La iglesia Sagrado Corazón y el equipo de LEVANTATE agradecen a todos los 120 parroquianos que participaron en los grupos de español y de inglés en la Tercera Etapa de LEVANTATE. Es impresionante como este programa reunió a gente de diferente raza, lenguaje, y edades de 8 a 85 años. Y les ayudó en diferentes maneras. Estos son algunos de sus comentarios: “Fui líder por primera vez, al principio tuve miedo, pero con la ayuda de Dios tuve una gran experiencia como líder y también compartiendo mi fe con otros,” “La gente estuvo contenta que pudieron escoger el día y horario de su preferencia,” “Yo goce compartiendo mis preocupaciones, orando, y aprendiendo que no soy la única que tengo problemas familiares,” “Nosotros gozamos colectando calcetines y cobijas para los desamparados”, “Estamos muy a gusto en nuestro grupo que vamos a continuar reuniéndonos hasta que empiece la cuarta etapa,” “Yo aprendí a compartir mi fe y mis experiencias, fue muy profundo,” Aprender cómo llegar a la gente en necesidad fue una gran experiencia porque así pude enseñar a mi hija a ver a los desamparados con ojos compasivos y a no tenerles miedo,” “Orando por unos y otros me sentí unida a Cristo,” “Tengo mi pareja pero al estar en este grupo estoy considerando casarme,” “Siento mi fe más fuerte,” “Dando información a los desamparados, acerca de los servicios que Salinas tiene para ellos, fue un gran compromiso para construir una mejor Comunidad.” Los niños tenían hambre de saber más, unas de las preguntas que tuvieron fueron: ¿Cómo va a ser el fin del mundo,” “¿Qué es ser santo?”. SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION: (Bilingual Confessions): Friday: 11:30-12:00 pm and 6:00 pm -7:30 pm.
BAPTISM (Children): Please come to the Parish Office (with a copy of your child’s birth certificate) to receive information about preparation and scheduling.
MARRIAGE: Preparation should begin at least 6 months in advance. Please call the Parish Office during office hours for an appointment with the priest.
SACRAMENT OF THE SICK: First Wednesday of each month at 12:15 pm, or by appointment.
HOSPITALIZED/HOMEBOUND: Please notify the Parish Office if you would like Holy Communion.
