GENERAL GUIDELINES

Extended abstracts should be written according to the below structure including the following headings: abstract and keywords, introduction, methods, findings and argument, conclusion and recommendations, and references. There is flexibility as to the naming of the sections. Sub-headings can be used when necessary. For more information please visit http://iceee.engr.tu.ac.th. Use this document as a template if you are using Microsoft Word. Otherwise, use this document as a guideline to setup your extended abstract. The format of the extended abstract is double column and has to be submitted in PDF format online. Please title your files in this order authorslastname_papernumber.pdf. All items in the title block should be centered align. The title should be set in bold with 18-point. The first letter of each word should be capitalized (do not capitalize articles, coordinate conjunctions or prepositions unless the title begins with such a word). The author’s name(s) should be set in 12 point and the list of affiliations should be set in 10-point and the corresponding author should be indicated by the asterisk “*” symbol.

INTRODUCTION

(10 pt) The introduction section should (1) present the scope and objective of the paper and state the problem, (2) briefly review the pertinent literature, (3) describe the methods, and (4) provide an overview of the main results of the work. Figures and tables should be embedded and not supplied separately.

Do not alter the formatting and style layouts which have been set up in this

template document. As indicated in the template, papers should be prepared in double column format suitable for direct printing onto A4 paper (8.3in x 11.7in/210mm x 297mm). Leave a line clear between paragraphs. The extended abstract should not exceed 2 pages.

METHODSThe methodology must be clearly stated and described in sufficient detail or with sufficient references.

FINDINGS AND ARGUMENTSThe findings and arguments of the work should be explicitely described and illustrated. Supporting figures, tables and images of the results may be included in the extended abstract. All tables should be numbered with Arabic numerals. Headings should be placed above tables, left justified. Leave one line space between the heading and the table. Only horizontal lines should be used within a table to distinguish the column headings from the body of the table, and immediately above and below the table. Tables must be embedded into the text and not supplied separately. Below is an example which authors may find useful.

All figures have to be numbered with Arabic numerals (1,2,…,n). All photographs, schematics diagrams and graphs are referred as figures. The Figures must be embedded into the text. Figures should be placed at the top or bottom of a page wherever possible, as close as possible to the first reference to them.

The figure number and caption should be typed below the illustration in 9pt and Centre justified. However, if two images fit next to each other, these may be placed next to each other to save space, see Fig 1. They must be numbered consecutively, all figures, and all tables respectively.

Equations and formulae should be left indent with 1 cm tab and they also be separated from the surrounding text by one space. They should be typed and numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals in parentheses on the right hand side of the page (if referred to explicitly in the text),

CONCLUSIONSConclusions should include (1) the principles and generalisations inferred from the results, (2) any exceptions to, or problems with these principles and generalisations, (3) theoretical and/or practical implications of the work, and (5) conclusions drawn and recommendations.

REFERENCESReferences must be listed at the end,

and numbered in the order of their appearance in the text. Authors should ensure that every reference appears in the list of references. Indicate references by numbers in the text. In the text the number of the reference should be given in square brackets [xx]. The actual authors can be referred to, but the reference number(s) must always be given.
