When you are reading the text and you notice a pause, you must write a / mark. When you are reading the text and you feel you need to add more expression, draw around the word with a circle. It may help if your parents / sibling read the text to you, whilst you text mark, adding / and circles round words in the appropriate places. One day Tranio’s father took him to the Theatre to watch and told him that very soon Tranio would be able to have a small part in the pantomime they were rehearsing. Tranio watched the actors rehearse with growing excitement when suddenly, the stone steps he was sitting on began to creak, the theatre flaps began to rattle and the stone pillars quivered. Everyone fell silent, but then they began to laugh and sing. Tranio ran to Livia’s house, he could hear people’s voices chanting the song “Rumble down, tumble down…,” but soon the sound of people shouting, arguing and screaming began to drown out the song. It became harder and harder to get through the narrow streets as people started to carry their belongings outside to safety, away from falling bricks and wood. 2. Writing Tasks:

1. Answer these questions based on the mouse picture. Sometimes the answer might not seem obvious but we have to look for clues to help us!- Who’s bedroom is it?- What can you tell about their

personality and interests?- How old do you think the smaller

mouse is? Why do you think that?- Which fairy tale story do you think

they might have been reading?- How long do you think they have

been reading for?- Do you think they read every night

before bed? Why do you think that?

2. Choose interesting words to up level these boring sentences! You can make them even better by adding more to the sentence or by simply choosing an alternative word that is more exciting.

Example: There is a tall tree in the park.Up levelled sentence: There is a beautiful, towering tree in the spacious park.

- I can see a cat.- The waves were high at the beach.- Every day I brush my teeth.- There was a road next to the field.- The shops were filled with items.

3. Write a set of instructions for any activity that you have done recently. It could be for a game that you have played, food that you have cooked or even a piece of art that you have done. Include numbers for the steps and ensure you are starting your instruction with a verb. For example: Put the flour into the measuring cup.

5. Write a letter to a friend to let them know what you have been up to during lock down. Have you got a daily routine? Have you played with your grown ups or siblings? Have you made anything exciting? Have you done any baking or cooking? Have you played any games? Have you gone out for walks with your family or grown ups? What have been your favourite thing about being at home?

1. History: Watch the video to learn about Roman numerals. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49oWYxExWKECut out and match the Roman numerals with the numbers we use and recognise today. If it is easier for you, you could write the numerals out and write the number that it equals next to it. Challenge: Can you write your own numbers and the roman numerals to match?

technology: Get arty and creative with your food! Can you help

your grown ups prepare one of your meals or a snack but make it look like an

4. It is really important that we get children talking, sharing their view as well as listening to others opinions. Discuss these questions with your family:- Which is more important, being nice or being right?- Can you ever learn too much?- What colour would a zebra be if it lost all of its stripes?
