Circle 429 on reader service card HYBRID MEMBRANE FOR INDUSTRIAL FILTERS DuPont has announced the global availability of its Hybrid Membrane Technology (HMT) fiber in air filtra- tion bag applications for industrial and commercial manufacturing. Referred to as "dust collection bags" in the industry, these filtration products are used with exit air to capture particles so they are not emitted into the environment-an increasingly important need as more countries enact regulations for cleaner air. According to the manu- facturer, HMT fiber bags provide air flow with an improved cycle time and better capture of particulates. Initial DuPont data, based on indus- try testing standards, shows that HMT technology provides energy savings by reducing down time and providing more consistent pressure levels. The TRU TEMP process forms a non-dimensional, deep black finish with long-term corrosion resist- ance-the ideal surface finish for high-tension bolts, nuts, and similar fastening devices. The TRU TEMP finish also prevents galling on criti- cal thread surfaces. The satin black magnetite coating is just 0.5 microns thick (20 mil- lionths), with no effect on material hardness or tensile strength. The fin- ish withstands up to 100-200 hours of neutral salt spray (ASTM B 117) or several hundred hours of humidity (ASTM D 1748), verified by inde- pendent testing. This high level of corrosion protection is important for both part storage and shipment in corrosive atmospheres, including ocean shipment. TRU TEMP solutions contain no EPA-regulated chemicals, so there is usually no need for waste treatment equipment. In most areas, the rinse waters are sewerable as non-haz- ardous discharge. This benefit simpli- fies the installation and minimizes the capital investment needed to set up a process line. The revolutionary integration of these two technologies results in two significant benefits: 1. There is no need for chlorine to the sanitize the waste stream,so the CLPB is operationallysafer and more environmentally friendly than other water treat- ment systems; and 2. The two technologies work together to treat emulsified oils and suspended solids, such as clay or silt, which are considered outside the range and capability of other wash-water treatment systems. The CLPB facilitates the injection of a Water Maze proprietary BioStax 1800 Microbe Solution coordinated with a time-sequenced aeration of bacteria to control odor and create degradation of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH), fuels, benzenes, oils, and grease. The BioStax microbes are certified as gram-posi- tive, pathogen-free, Class 1 organ- isms, making them extremely safe for handling. They are also enhanced by the introduction of a Water Maze BioNutrient solution. The dominant feature of the CLPB is the high-density, polyethylene tank that is extra-resistant to chemi- cal fatigue and ultraviolet exposure. The CLPB system is fully automated for simple operation and low main- tenance. Water Maze products are sold in North America through a network of associated dealers.
