largesttreesseenoneastcoastofNorthIsland.Followingthevisittothe

souvenirshop,trythenearbybushwalkandhaveapicnicwithyoufamily&friends.

2.  SheepWorld

ItisNewZealand’sPremierFarmExperience!Expecttogetbestquality

sheepskins,woollenandoutdoorclothingplusnaturalNZproducts.New

Zealand’sbestsheep&dogshowsdailyat11am&2pm.

3.  KowhaiParkScenicReserve

There’sacircularnativebushwalkthattakesabout45‐60minutesandtakes

youtotheoldLimestoneKilns,datingbacktothe1880’s.Thelimestone

usedtobequarriedandfiredtherebeforeshippingitdownrivertoAuckland.

4.  OldCementWorks‐Ruins&SwimmingHole

Takeabreakfromdrivingupnorth&haveadipinthecoldwatersoftheold

cementworksswimminghole.Don’tenjoywateractivities?Noworries.Soak

upthesuninthebeautifulsummerseason.VeryHighlyrecommended.Itisoneofthosesecretspots,whichnotmanypeopleknowabout.

5.  GoatIslandMarineReserve

ProbablythebestFREEthingtodoaroundWarkworth.Swimwiththe

fishesandrubnoseswithgrand‐daddysnapper,orwalkouttotherockslookingouttoGoatIslandandadmirethemupclose.Youcandive,

snorkelorviewthemeasilyfromtherockswithoutgettingyourfeetwet.Bringyoursnorkelorscubadiving.Alternatively,youcanhirethemas

well.WhenyouaredonewithWateractivities,youcandothe“goattrack”

aroundtheGoatIslandMarinereserve.Thewalkisabout3hoursandwill

takearound3hours.

6.  BrickBayReserve

Theshorter45minutewalkwilltakeyouovertheboardwalksleadingthroughthemangroves,pastDeansIslandandouttowherethebirdsare

nestingonthesandbar.Thereareseveralotherwalksthatthelocals

havedeveloped,thattakeyouthroughthebushandouttotheMatakanaRiver(theytakeabout1.5‐2hours).Thesearemarked,andnotfarfrom

Warkworthtownship.

7.  Charlie’sGelatoGarden

OneofthemostPREMIUMartisan&sorbettoshopsinNZ.Madeina

traditionalItalianmanner,fresheverydayusingtheseasonalfruits

sourcedlocally.

8.  MatakanaVillageFarmer’sMarket

ThisisoneofthepremiumlocalfarmermarketsinNZ.Theareahasarich

localproduceoffruits,vegetables,wines&organicfoods.Getinspiredbythefreshsmells,anincrediblelocalproduce,andlivemusicwithmorningcoffee.OpenonSaturdaymorning(allyear)&Wednesdayeveningsin

summer.

9.  MatakanaVineyards

NewZealandwineisconsideredtobeoneofthemorepremiumwinesin

theworld.AndMatakanaisattheheartofproducingthoseworld‐

renownedwines.Nowonderitconsistsofdozensofvineyardsallover

Matakana,neartoWarkworth.Someofthemostfamousvineyardsare:BrickBay,AscensionWineEstate,ContourEstate&CoxheadCreek.

10. SnellsBeach

OneofthemostbeautifulbeachestovisitinNorthIsland.Youcanhavea

peacefulwalkonthebeach.Ifyouaremoreofadventureperson,gohave

aswim–thebeachistidal.Collectthebeautifulshellslyingalloverthebeach.Incrediblybeautifulsunriseviewsifyouanearlyriser.Takeaboat

tripcrosstothestand‐aloneKawauIslandvisiblefromSnellsbeach.Allin

all,snellsbeachistheperfectplacetostaywhilevisitingWarkworth,MatakanaoronthewaytoBayofislands.
