2012 Crop Highlights
Favorable growing conditions through spring & summer
By late summer, industry expected crop to be 500,000+ tons
In September, CASS estimated crop at 470,000 tons Lowest average nut set in 5 years (down 1% from 2011) Small inshell size: Jumbo size for Hartley, Vina, Chandler, & Howard down10

Opening prices similar to prior year, moved up rapidly
Currency not an issue; China crop rumored less than originally expected
In December, WMB reported 497,000 tons received Total Shipments = 504 M lbs (up 3.4% over prior year)
Inshell = 227 M lbs (up 5.7% over prior year) Shelled Kernels = 123 M lbs (up 3.4% over prior year)
