FROM THE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

"The nicest thing about being happy is that you never think you'll be unhappy again."

Escapism: the habitual diversion of the mind to purely imaginative activity or enter-tainment as an escape from reality or routine. A habit we often depend on in hopes of attaining temporary freedom from the sometimes cruel reality of the world in which we live. For Molina, reality is particularly brutal and harsh - not only because of the cell walls that surround him, but because of his "otherness" as a "Window Dresser." To escape, he closes his eyes and becomes a movie star alongside his favorite diva: Aurora. This escapism is shattered with the arrival of his new cellmate, Valentin, who strives to change his reality through revolution rather than escape it through fantasy. With each new season, BoHo hopes to explore the bohemian pillars of Truth, Beauty, Freedom, and Love. Though KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN is certainly a showcase for fantastic song and dance, BoHo examines this

story through the lens of rela-tionships and the pillar of love. While Molina's fantasy world certainly lends itself to theatri-cality, it is the story of these two men that creates the heart of the show. What starts as opposites and ends as something… more… makes SPIDER WOMAN a powerful story about the beauty and destructive nature of love. If you enjoy what you see

today, please consider making a donation to our company, or becoming a part of our family as a Board or Company Member. Our house manager will be happy to tell you about BoHo. Your support is what allows BoHo and its audiences to continue exploring and sharing these stories.

Enjoy the performance!

COMING SOON TO BOHO'S STAGE...WITH YOUR HELP

Even though BoHo Theatre is a CRITICALLY-ACCLAIMED arts organization, with 12 Jeff Awards and 50 nominations, we remain a small neighborhood theatre run by an ALL-VOLUNTEER STAFF. Ticket sales make up LESS THAN HALF of our operating budget. As we enter our milestone 10TH SEASON, we ask you to be a part of bringing art to the stage. Your donations to BoHo go

directly to sponsoring a position or element within a BoHo produc-tion. You receive thanks directly alongside the position or element you sponsor in BoHo programs and promotional materials! For more information on how you can help bring an element of the art to the stage, visit us online at www.BoHoTheatre.com/donate or connect with your BoHo house manager after the performance!

who they are or where they come from; no matter if they are complete strangers

or familiar faces; no matter how different the age, the race, or the walk of life;

after this performance, you will have something in common. So, strike up a

In partnership with these companies, we share audience development initiatives, marketing programs, and responsibilities for space maintenance. Most importantly, we create an opportunity for audiences to explore a diverse range of programming and to discover new companies. Meet our residents for 2012-2013!

STAGe lefT THeATreStage left Theatre’s mission is to develop and produce plays that inspire debate about political and social topics. We focus on presenting complicated issues in the context of an engaging story, without prescribing a single point of view. We attempt to spark respectful debate about the issues most relevant to our community, and activate audiences to continue those conversations beyond the walls of the theatre. Stage left also works to inspire playwrights to address political and social themes through our Downstage left new work development program.
