† A note about our wheel and summer performance tire assemblies: Our alloy wheel and tire assemblies, as well as some of the tiresrequired for our larger-diameter alloy wheels, are designed for optimum performance and handling in warm climates. They are notsuitable for cold, snowy or icy weather conditions. If you drive under those circumstances, then you should equip your vehicle with all-season or winter tires, which offer better traction under those conditions. We suggest you use the recommended winter or all-season tire specified for your car or its equivalent. These high-performance tires also have a lower aspect ratio that aidsperformance and handling; however, in order to avoid tire, rim or vehicle damage, it is important that the inflation pressure is regularly checked and maintained at recommended levels. Please also remember, in making your selection, that while these tiresdeliver responsive handling, they may ride less comfortably and make more noise than other choices. For further information on allthese topics, please consult the owner’s manual or your local dealer, or call 1-800-DRIVE-VW.

New wheels: If you want to replace the wheels that were installed on the vehicle at the factory, then make sure that the new wheelsare equipped with sensors which are compatible with the factory-installed, tire-pressure monitoring system, if applicable. The valve in each tire is equipped with a sensor which measures the pressure in the tire and transmits it to the tire-pressure monitoring system.New wheels with sensors are recognized and integrated into the system. For recognition to take place, the vehicle must be driven for a while at more than 15 mph (25 km/h) after it has been idle for about 20 minutes. If you are using tires with different inflationpressures than those recommended by the factory, the tire-pressure values must be reprogrammed. Please contact your authorizedVolkswagen dealer or qualified workshop. If you mount wheels which do not have sensors or have incompatible sensors, then thesystem cannot recognize the wheels; the tire-pressure monitoring system is not able to measure inflation pressure, and a malfunctionwarning will be displayed.
