The tower was built in 1646 by the old rich Fondra family from Sibenik.The quality stone it was built from was transported from the island of Brač. Since they built it in times of tur-moil, residential and economy facilities were surrounded by a high wall. The tower is closed today.

This simple gothic church was built in 1402. As a parish church, it was consecrated to St. Cross in 1421.There used to be a cemetery next to it.
They keep an old Roman/ Gothic holy water vessel on a pillar inside the church, a unique specimen in this part of Dalmatia.
THE CHURCH OF ST. CROSS (4)Watching from the sea, Vodice panorama is dominated by Okit hill with its Church of the Lady of Carmel.
The first church on this rise was built in the 17th century, probably on foundations of an earlier chapel. In early 20th century, the Way of the Cross was built from the foot to the top of the hill, with fourteen chapels, each one marking one station of the Way of the Cross.
The church was expanded with several additions. It was destroyed twice, during World War 2 and the Homeland War. The present appearance of the church is a work of architect Nikola Bašić.
OKIT (1)
The church is a work of Sibenik baroque builder Ivan Skoko. It was built from 1746 to 1749, on foundation of an old chapel.
Above the portal is a beautiful baroque rosette. The baroque altar was dedicated to St. Cross. On the altar of the Heart of Jesus and the Holy Family are two palls from mid-19th century.
The bell tower has been built for full twenty years, since 1752, by Vicko Macanovic, a builder from Dubrovnik. The bell tower has a closed stem and two naves. The bottom nave has two bigger windows, and the top nave has two smaller ones on each side.

At the foot of Velika Mrdakovica, on the path leading to a Roman enclosure, you will encounter another sacral monument, a witness to the former settlement and life in these currently run-down fields.
Residents of Pisca built a church in 1298 and conse-crated it to St. Elijah the Prophet in 1493. The little church is surrounded by a wall. There was probably a cemetery next to it. Today, mass is held here once a year, on August 20.

Stone field cottages, called bunja are spread all over the Mediterranean, and on the Croatian coast of the Adriatic are the most numerous in the surroundings of Šibenik and Zadar. These old cottages, of characteristicway of construction, are mostly circular, but they can be also rectangular or unsymmetrical.
Rašo’s bunja is the rarity because of its structure and construction. This building is a complex of two big and two small cottages. The most interesting building part of bigger cottage is the inner passage, ćemer, which leads from one room to another. One room, with a fireplace, served as a kitchen, and the other one for sleeping. Two smaller cottages served for keeping the livestock.

The oldest proofs which testify about the life on these areas were found tools and human and animal bones still from the Iron Age. Unfortunately, none of these findings have not been preserved.
ŠABIN BRDO
Rakitnica is a settlement that was first mentioned in 1311. Right next to the houses, contours of which can still be seen, the Church of St. John the Christener was built in 1455. Since no one lives in the settlement today, the church is in function only twice a year, on holidays celebrating the saint of the same name.

According to the finds and its position, some identify Velika Mrdakovica with Arauzona, a Liburnian settle-ment described by Plinius in his travelogues. Judging by the rich finds of metal buckles and jewelry, old money and fragments of glass and ceramics, it is quite safe to say this is true.
The most valuable thing of the locality are various finds of painted glass kitchenware, which are considered to be the most valuable finds of its kind on the territory of the Roman Empire.
VELIKA MRDAKOVICA - ARAUZONA
At the foot of the hill where Arauzona settlement used to be situated, there was a natural trap for collection of rainwater. Residents of Arauzona covered it with arches, leaving a few openings for inflow of precipitation waters.
The enclosure, or Turkish reservoir as the people of Vodice incorrectly call it, is still used for watering cattle and nearby olive groves.
ROMAN ENCLOSURE
Foundation of a late-ancient dual basilica is situated in Srima field, reconstructed and conserved. The building was built in late 5th and early 6th century. One can clearly see two almost identical parts of the church, the north one and the south one. Remains of a few more rooms of different purposes and two Illyric graves are still around the late ancient building.

At the foot of the old Rakitnica town, at Three wells site, the remains of the Roman brick kiln were found which served for the production of the parts of the roof struc-ture – baked-clay tiles and channel tiles.This is the first discovery of a Roman kiln in Dalmatia and by its preserved condition it is a curiosity in the Mediterranean.

The Kornati archipelago is really so fascinating and unique in its beauty and attractiveness that there is no other in Europe, and even the world, to compare it with. The Kornati archipelago encompasses 147 islands, islets and reefs making up the total surface area of 69 sq km. They spread from Dugi Otok (The Long Island) to Žirje covering the total surface area of 320 sq km. The National Park encompasses 89 islands and covers the area of 220 sq km.The Kornati archipelago was named after its largest island, the Kornati Island. The northern coast is more indented and softer than the southern, where there are mostly cliffs steeping down towards the sea. There are no water streams on the islands, and they are covered with scarce bushes and grass.
KORNATI NATIONAL PARK
It was proclaimed a national park in 1985 and is the seventh national park in Croatia. The Krka National Park is located entirely within the territory of Sibe-nik- Knin County and encompasses an area of 109 square kilometres along the Krka River: two kilometres downriver from Knin to Skradin and the lower part of the Cikola River. From the flooded part of the mouth, it is 72.5 kilometres in length, making the Krka the 22nd longest river in Croatia.With its seven travertine waterfalls and a total drop of 242 meters, the Krka River is a natural and carstic phenomenon.

If you take the road from Vodice to Zadar, you will wit-ness a natural phenomena where two equally beautiful, but yet so different, blue surfaces meet. Indented Adri-atic coast known for its appealing beauty and clearness on one hand, and the biggest natural lake in Croatia on the other.
As one of the rare, almost intact natural habitats of water birds, with springs of drinking water, this specific, biologically diverse area of Vransko lake was declared a Nature park on July 27, 1999.

The falcon centre is situated only eight kilometres from the centre of the city of Sibenik in the thick pine forest (Dubrava) and it represents the unique site where the visitors could grasp the mystery of falcons’ life.

While staying in Vodice, do not forget to visit Sibenik, the ancient Croatian town carved in stone, only 11 km away from Vodice. Feel the magic and listen – soon the palaces, the churches, the town squares, and the little streets will start telling their stories...
If you come from the sea, you will enter the Sibenik Bay through the Channel of St. Anna. It is protected by the fort of St. Nicholas built in the Late Renaissance style. At the central town square you can see a masterpiece by architect and sculptor Juraj Dalmatinac – the Cathedral of St. Jacob in Sibenik. The wreath of human heads sur-rounds the walls of the cathedral.The Cathedral of St. Jacob in Sibenik made in the Gothic and Renaissance styles, a monument of Euro-pean sacral architecture, has been proclaimed, together with the old town center, a part of UNESCO cultural heritage.
Opposite the cathedral, you will see the city hall, a very nicely constructed Renaissance building erected in 1536.
In the summer, Sibenik is the host of the International Children’s Festival, a manifestation that has gathered children from around the world since 1958.
We believe the picture in your mind when you are imag-ining a Dalmatian town is that of Sepurine.
Beautiful, quiet, old, noble, stealing breath in front of every house. Solid, stone, steep streets, stone houses, each capturing attention with its particularity, still forming a harmonious, single whole story. It is a story of glitter and wealth that used to be, and laughter that once resounded along these streets.
Prvic, with its two settlements, Sepurine and Prvic Luka, was first mentioned in the 11th century. It was substantially inhabited by people from Srima and Vodice who fled here in fear of Turks. Sepurine has the summer residence that once belonged to the famous Vrancic family of Sibenik, which produced two significant persons in European terms: Anton and Faust. Faust Vrancic was born in Sibenik in 1551. When one hears his name, it is first associated with parachute. Our Leonardo was a versatile thinker and scientist. Under the influence of his uncle Antun, a reputable church dignitary, diplomat and writer, he soon became famous as an inventor, lexicographer, historian and writer. Faust was the author of the first printed Croatian dictionary. He died in Venice in 1617, but his remains were transported to the Church of the Lady of Mercy in Luka at his own wish.
There are two sacral buildings in picturesque Sepurine. The Parish Church of Our Lady was built in 1978 and the Church of St. Rok in 1620. The latter is known for its baroque altar, which belongs to the era of Venetian crafts judging by its flamboyance and monumentality. An old Croatian cemetery from the 9th and 10th cen-turies was discovered near the church, where they found fragments of knit ornaments from that period.
ŠIBENIK
The gemstone of cultural heritage on the shores of the Krka River, at the mere entrance to the Krka National Park, Skradin is the oasis of peace and beauty, the famous and turbulent past. Skradin is the host of tradi-tional national gathering of Dalmatian vocal ensembles (klape). Restaurants and taverns offer Dalmatian prosciutto, freshly baked bread, fresh fish and mussels, and good wines.

ACI marina lies in the north-eastern part of the Vodice harbour (Vrulje cove) and is protected by two break-waters.
In the year 1999 ACI marina Vodice along with five other ACI marinas was awarded the “European Blue Flag”, an environmental award, given to communities that make a special effort to keep their beaches and marinas clean and manage them with consideration for the local environment.
The marina is a winner of a prestigious “European Blue flag” award nine years in a row now.
The marina has 415 berths and 90 boat places on land.The berths have water and power supply.

Valued guests, Registration and the payment of the tourist tax for domestic and foreign guests is mandatory according to the Tourist Tax Act and the Movement and Stay of Foreign Persons Act.

To ensure a comfortable stay and make sure you are abiding by the law, we ask you to please check whether you have been registered for the whole of your stay, from the day you arrive to the day you leave.
All those providers of accommodation services are obliged to register their guests, to pos-sess the certificate of registration for each guest in any commercial accommodation facilities (hotels, apartment-hotels, tourist settlements, apartments, camps, boarding houses, lodgings for the night, hostels, private accommodation, etc.) and to present the same at the request of the guest.
Checking this is important and necessary particularly if you are staying in private accom-modation so as to facilitate quality service, insure your personal safety and to disable illegal operation of those hosts who are not registered to offer accommodation.
In the event you are staying outside of commercial accommodation facilities, you are obliged to carry out the registration yourself within 24 hours at the nearest police station!
