Montessori Extended Day is an enriching program that fosters each child's social-emotional, cognitive and physical development in an environment that is both complimentary and supportive of the values of Convent of the Visitation School. Our underlying philosophy is that children learn through play, and our goal is to provide a multitude of play experi-ences, in an effort to develop the “whole child” by supporting each child's progress at his or her own pace. We make every effort to promote children’s accomplishments based on the belief that each child has his/her own personal strengths, interests, and abilities.
Montessori Extended Day provides a balance be-tween those nurturing aspects of a home environ-ment and the challenging social and learning op-portunities provided in a school or group childcare setting. During a typical day, children participate in a variety of activities including: self directed play, teacher-guided activities, dramatic play, sto-ries, music, art, science, and activities with mathe-matical and literacy concepts.
