Welcome to the shed door

Tasmania’s seasonal fruit guide

Tasmania’s bountiful supplies of fruit are renowned for their delicious flavour and are recognised by food connoisseurs across the world. Our mild temperate maritime climate provides the ideal environment for slow maturation and flavour development.

The state’s topography and geography allows for niche micro-climates throughout the state and provides a diversity of produce to be harvested from early summer through to late autumn.

The fruit industry in Tasmania is one of the oldest and has shaped the future of many regions including the Huon Valley and Tamar Valley. Today the Tasmanian fruit industry continues to expand and is focused on providing premium quality fruit to national and overseas markets.

The Tasmanian Seasonal Produce Guide has been designed for locals and visitors alike to source some of the freshest fruit produce direct from the grower. Grab a bag of fresh apples or cherries, a punnet of delicious berries, or box of seasonal stone fruit and snack on them as you travel around and enjoy the wonderful Tasmanian scenery.

Relax and enjoy your tour around the state and revel in the abundance of delicious fresh fruits grown in one the most ideal environments in the world.

Tasmania provides the perfect environment to grow premium fruit with clean air, select natural environments and abundant water supplies. Locals and visitors can source a wide variety of apples, pears, cherries, berries and stonefruit from a vast array of fruit growing districts across the state.

The Channel district of Tasmania starts at the southern suburbs of Hobart and stretches down the picture-perfect Derwent River to the D’Entrecasteaux Channel. No trip to the Channel is complete

without a visit to the world renowned Bruny Island with its diversity of wildlife and national parks, and an island steeped with history dating back to 1642. The Channel is well recognised for its local produce ranging from cheeses, fruits and meats which can be sampled at some of the state’s most iconic restaurants and cafés.
