An extension service that empowers the communities, particularly the

underserved and depressed, from the bondage of poverty, malnutrition,

ignorance, vices, indifference, and environmental destruction to enable the

people to live with honor and dignity

ABOUT THE MANUAL The Extension Service Manual of Batangas State University provides direc-

tion in the conceptualization, planning, development, implementation and documen-

tation of extension programs, activities and projects (PAPs) in the University. As the

University grows and responds to the various needs of its beneficiaries, and as it

ensures continuous adherence to standards and policies set by governing agencies

and institutions, the Extension Service Manual remains to be adaptive with the

emerging developments for sustainability.

The Manual was last revised in 2008, with Resolution No. 12, S2008 by the

University’s Board of Regents. Part of the said resolution is the provision that the

document is “subject to comments and recommendations for further revisions.” In

the last quarter of 2012, the Vice President for Research and Extension had a series

of meetings with the Director and Assistant Directors for Extension Services for the

purpose of reviewing and revising the Manual, based on the aforementioned rea-

sons, and based on the result of the Situational Analysis conducted at the University

in line with the office’s strategic initiatives and plans. The revisions were presented

to the University’s Executive Committee for Institutional Planning, the Extension

Council, the Administrative Council, and the University’s Board of Regents. The pro-

posed revisions were approved with minor changes, all of which have been incorpo-

rated in this Extension Services Manual.

Some of the highlights in the revised manual are the new organizational

structure of the Extension Services Office, realignment of the office’s thrusts and

priorities, composition of the Extension Council, and monetary reward for presenta-

tion of an extension work. It is hoped that these would instigate an invigorated pas-

sion for the conduct of extension PAPs in the University, and ultimately help in the

attainment of the enhanced vision of the University.
