2009 ben kezdtem el foglalkozni a hontalanággal, mint jelenséggel. Ezen belül is azzal a hontalanság azon ágával,amit az ember nem maga választ, lásd elköltözöm egy másik városba, vagy úgy döntök mostantól kezdve életemet máshol más társaságban folytatom.Engem sokkal inkább a személytől független mód kialakult gyökértelenség érdekelt. ( gyerekek állami gondozásba kerülnek, vagy emberek politikai okok miatt hontalanná válnak ) . Sorozatom elkészítéséhez a fóti kastély bizonyosult a legmegfelőbbnek.

Ötvenes évek közepén lakatlanná vált a 140 hektáros ős platános Károlyi birtok. Ma állami gondozott gyerekek átmeneti, valamint Gróf Károlyi Erzsébet és László otthona, akik jogilag csak bérlői az egykori családi otthonuk töredéknyi részének.Hogyan élik életüket egymás közvetlen szomszédságában, mégis teljesen külön életterükben? A két világ a mindennapokban a legritkább esetben találkozik. A helyzetet katalizátorként én inditottam el, ám munkám során a résztvevők már maguk alakították tovább viszonyukat. Fotósorozatom több elképzelt, majd megvalósult találkozást rögzít, és betekintést enged a szereplők spontán reakcióiba.

I started to focus on the phenomenon of rootlessness in 2009. I am particularly intrigued by instances of rootlessness which do not occur out of individual volition, such as moving from one place to another or deciding to hop from one community to another because that is what I feel is right. Instead, my attention has been arrested by those ways of becoming rootless which come about independently of the individual person (children committed to orphanages or people being exiled for political reasons). Given this specific theme, the Castle of Fót proved to be the most appopriate venue for my set of phototograps to be taken.

Today, the castle of Fót temporarily serves as an orphanage, and is also home to Countess Erzsébet and Count László Károlyi, who are legally only leaseholders of a tiny portion of what used to be their family’s estate. Normally, these two worlds show little, if any, sign of mutual perme-ability. My set of photographs records several instances of interpenetration between the two worlds. These instances were initially imaginary, and subsequently turned into reality. The photographs aim to enable insight into the characters’ spontaneous reactions to these encounters.

Technique

I used a technical camera, because I could take good advantage of the technology, given the character of this particular kind of set. What I find especially attractive in this technology is that it requires a kind of meditative concentration. There were no more than 3 photos taken of each setting. The work required considerable preparation: I had had to familiarize myself with the locale, the frame [képkivágás?], the light conditions, the lighting plan so that I could concentrate exclusively on my models when I started working. Another reason for using a technical camera was that I wished to magnify the pictures in a large format.
