Twenty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time PAGE 6 September 10, 2017

My name is Stefanie Berberabe. I am 17 years old — a senior at Saint Joseph High School in Lakewood. I am an alumnus of Saint Linus Catho-lic School. I played basketball, volleyball, softball, soccer, track & field and was the president of the student coun-cil at St. Linus. I was an active altar server and lector. I cur-rently help in the Religious Goods Store after the 9:00AM Mass with my family. I want to be queen because I want to give back to my Saint Linus community and get to know the parishioners. Saint Linus has shaped me into the person I am today, and I am extremely blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of this community.

My name is Annalisa Garcia and I am running for Fiesta

Queen. I am 14 years old and currently attending St. Pius X – St. Matthias Academy. I started at St. Linus School in Pre-K and graduated as class Salutatorian just last year. While at St. Linus, I was on the Academic Decathlon team

and I won first place in the sub-ject of Religion. As a freshman

at St. Pius X – St. Matthias Acad-emy I am involved in yearbook. I have been an usher for the 10:30 Sunday mass since the third grade and I volunteer in the Religious Gift Shop at St. Linus. I am enrolled in St. Linus Confirmation pro-gram. I am currently a Girl Scout and a part of Troop 983, where we participate in many community service activi-ties such as donating money and blankets/supplies to SE-AACA, and donating and helping out with Love in the Mirror, an organization that helps the homeless children. When I was thinking about running for Fiesta Queen, I was approached by the Pro-Life ministry and asked to consider running. This strengthened my decision as I wanted to help the Pro-Life ministry. Being a candi-date for the Fiesta Queen is a wonderful way to give back to St. Linus Parish, St. Linus School, and the St. Linus Community where I have been a part of all of my life. Thank you for the opportunity.

My name is Nyomi Ledesma and I am fifteen years old. The 2016-2017 school year I graduated from St. Linus with honors. I am now a freshman at Sonora High School and involved in Theatre and FFA, which stands for Future Farmers of America. I enjoy going to church and love sharing my love for God with others. I am running for queen because I want to become more involved in the church and help raise money for St. Linus. I am so thankful for my faith and am proud to be Catholic. My relationship with God is so im-portant to me because it makes me who I am; a proud Catholic.

Hello, My name is Kyle Perera, and I am a sophomore at Saint John Bosco High School. I have been attending Saint Linus Church since I was born and am an alumnus of Saint Linus School. When I graduated from eighth grade, I received the Saint Linus Award for my participation in several school and parish activi-ties and service projects. I am cur-rently in phase II of the confirmation program here at St. Linus and I have also been an altar server since I was in 4th grade. At Saint John Bosco, I am a water polo player, Campus Ministry Leader, and a Sports Medicine pathway student. I am running to be the Fiesta King for 2017 because I want to help and support the parish that has become my second home. If I win, I would use the prize money to pay for my swimming fees. However, whether I win or lose, you can count on me to be at the fiesta, volunteering in differ-ent booths and spending time with my second family. Please support me in supporting my parish!

Good blessed day to every one! My name is Dannica Mallari. I am 16 years old, cur-rently a Junior attending La Mirada High School. This is my second time running for St. Linus’ Fiesta Queen. In school, I am taking a few AP classes and I am also involved with choir and Track and Field. I started helping at church in the 3rd grade. I started off as an altar server with Sister Jo-seph Ann. I branched out to different activi-ties. For example, the children’s choir with Mr. Salud, lecturing and ushering at the 5:00 pm Sunday mass and also liturgical dancing. Volunteering at St. Linus has in-fluenced me to grow in my faith. The reason why I am running for queen again is because I would like to give back to the church of course, but also so that I can continue volunteering at church any way that I can. Throughout the years that my family has been here, this church has given us so many blessings within our lives, so this is my chance to do anything I can to return what the church has done for us. From my pre-vious experience of running, I was able to get to know a few people as they walked out the door. Hopefully, I will be able to know everyone better, I do not want to be strangers with any of you. St. Linus is my second home, where I can freely express who I am. Please vote for me, Dannica Mallari as this year’s Fiesta Queen. Thank you very much and have a blessed day!

Hello, my name is Valerie Zavala, I'm currently a AP student athlete at Norwalk High school. I am running for Fiesta Queen of St. Linus 2017 because throughout my religious education I always had a problem with feeling comfortable in a parish until I attended life teen at St. Linus. The program has helped me and so many different ways and to thank them I decided to run for queen so I can represent the character of our parish. My involvement as a mentor for life teen has helped me to meet so many new people and become a more involved member in the church. My goal is to be a helpful and ac-cessible member of St. Linus. I believe this is a good op-portunity to reach out to the new generation to show them how cool and amazing believing in Christ could be. Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12
