There is a passage within the Bible that contains a haunting call. It is the first line of Proverbs 29:18, "Where there is no vision, the people perish". The absence of vision leads to death. This passage is loaded with meaning & stirs many questions. What is vision? How do you arrive at a vision? What are God's plans and purposes for us? The list could go on and on.
In my Sunday message, I will share some insights to these questions and a few more from the parables of the new patch and new wineskin from Luke 5:17-39 NIV. Immediately following our worship service, we will have a special "working lunch meeting" with lunch provided. I ask that our session and committee chairs plan to attend. But, I extend an invitation to anyone who is interested in learning more about visioneering for FFCPC to attend. A presentation will immediately follow lunch plus a discussion time and considerations of specific visioneering for our future growth and development. I look forward to sharing our time together dreaming and planning of God's future for us, Jeremiah 29:11-14 NIV.
Christ in Every Heart, Pastor Greg
Welcome Our Newest Member
Welcome to Sally Rhimer-Moyer, who joined our church at the Session meeting on Dec 13. Sally comes to us from Two Rivers Church. She has been worshiping with us for a few months now. Please join us in giving Sally a big welcome to our family.
Thursday Night Bible Study
There will be no dinner prior to Bible Study
Bible Study will begin at 6 pm
Choir Practice will begin at 7 pm
Medal Ceremony
Faith Fellowship CP Church will be hosting a military medal presentation ceremony on Saturday, January 7th. The ceremony will be at noon. This will be for Kim Maiden's dad, Roy Munsey. Anyone from the church is invited to attend.
The Veteran's Legacy Foundation (located in NC) did some research on his military service and found he was overlooked for some medals. His name, along with two of his brothers (who are both deceased), was given to them by one of Kim's cousins. Kim's cousin is retired military and has gotten involved in this foundation.
John Elskamp, the head of thefoundationwill come present them to him. He hasn't told us exactly what will be presented; saidhe wanted it to be a surprise but they plan on having a military officer do the presentationand an honor guard. John has been very excited about coming and has allowed us to invite who we wanted. TV crews are expected to be here along with Eddie Mannis, who started Honor Air, and a fellow who does a radio program called "The Veteran Next Door" said he was coming. He's also written a book of the same name.
Noisy Offering
We did not have our Noisy Offering on New Years Day, so we will have it this Sunday, January 8th. Please bring your loose change and make some NOISE!!!!! We will take paper money, too!
The last donation was made to Good Samaritan of Loudon County. The next $100 donation will go to Mission of Hope.
Contributions for the first week of January were well below budget. This is probably due to the low attendance on behalf of our "regular attenders" and hopefully things will get back to normal this coming Sunday.
Thanks to the Presbytery Grant and the Denomination Board of Stewardship allowing us to pay interest only on our loan, 2016 was a good year financially for the church. As you know, we will be receiving the grant and the reduced loan payment through 2017.
We cannot become complacent. These subsidies will not last much longer. We must become self sufficient by growing our church. A lot of seeds were sown during 2016, and I am optimistic that there will be a good harvest in 2017.
Year-end contribution statements will be available sometime within the next week or so.
Thank You
Christmas time was very special with you for Rhonda & me. There were so many cards reminding us of the importance of our church family to us. Plus, the gift from the church was much more than we ever expected. It really put the exclamation mark on our "Merry Christmas" from you. Words are never enough to capture the full meaning of thank you from our hearts. Always know we are so very thankful for you. May God bless you with His presence, power, & provisions in the New Year of 2017. With love & thanksgiving, Greg & Rhonda Tucker
New Listening System
A new Peavy Assisted Listening System has been donated for church use. It is now installed on our sound system for use in our services. If it is difficult for you to understand or hear during our services, this device can help. If you are willing to try the device, you can request a pocket receiver with ear buds as you enter worship. Please see Jim Stinnett or Clay Stewart before the service and he will set you up with the device & how it works. If this works for you, keep the earbuds & turn the receiver back in at the end of worship for use in next week's service.
Pecans are Here!

The halves will be $13, the pieces will be $11, and the glazed are $10.The chocolate pecans and clusters are here and are $10 per bag! CPWM Begins New Project
Our Faith Fellowship Cumberland Presbyterian Women's Ministry (CPWM)has a new project for this year for which we would appreciate your help. We want to emphasize that this is NOT a Christmas project, but an ongoing project.
We have identified a nursing home in Loudon County that could seriously use our help. Kindred Nursing Home and Rehabilitation, Loudon, TN has 75 residents. Seventeer of those residents have no family and no spendable income. It is the hope of CPWM to assist these people with a variety of items. We have been given a list of items that their administration says would help those residents.
