SPECIFICATION

1. SCOPE OF WORK

Repairs to Exhauster Vacuum Valves, Quick Service Application, Driver’s Brake Valve, Duplex Check Valve, HT Reducing Valve, Door Reducing Valve and Vacuum Reducing Valve.

2. WARRANTY

The repaired components must be supplied with a 6 months comprehensive warranty from date of delivery.

Suppliers to provide data or inspection sheets for each Electronics vacuum valves (EVV), Quick service application, Drivers Brake valve, Duplex Check Valve, HT Reducing Valve, Door Reducing Valve, Pressure reducing valve, Emergency brake valve (EAV) and Vacuum Reducing Valve repaired or refurbished.

3. TRANSPORT

The collection and delivery of the components will be at the cost of the contractor/supplier. While in transit to and from the Rolling Stock Springfield depot, the supplier will be held

liable/responsible for any loss and damages to the components.

4. PACKAGING

Due to the sensitivity of the components they must be individually bubble wrapped and packaged into boxes.

5. DELIVERY

15 working days from the date of the Purchase Order.

6. PENALTIES

Should the Contractor fail to deliver on the stipulated date, a penalty of R200.00 per day will be charged.

7. COMPLIANCE

Non-conformance (NCR’s) must be return within 7 working days.

8. TIME FRAME

The time frame period of the contract will run for the next 36 months on an “As and when” basis.

9. CONTRACT PERIOD AND VALUE

This contract shall commence immediately after it is awarded and will be for a period of 36 months or when a value of R3.5million (including VAT) is reached. The contract will terminate, either when the thirty six months elapses or when the contract value is reached or whichever comes first.

10. TO BE PROVIDED BY THE CONTRACTOR

Proof of experience in repairs of Electronics vacuum valves (EVV), Quick service application, Drivers Brake valve, Duplex Check Valve, HT Reducing Valve, Door Reducing Valve, Pressure reducing valve, Emergency brake valve (EAV) and Vacuum Reducing Valve

The contractor will be responsible for the safety and protection of all Rolling Stock components at their site until the works are handed over to the PRASA.

GENERAL

The contractor must collect the component (s), strip and quote. The quotation must give a breakdown of items to be repaired or changed.

The Contractor shall at all-time be responsible for supervision of the work and for follow-up instructions to monitor that the work is being done to specification. The contractor shall immediately take appropriate remedial action, in areas where the specified standards are not achieved.

The Contractor shall allow PRASA representatives to visit plant workshop sites anytime to monitor/inspect refurbishment process and workshop facilities.

Metrorail KZN shall at any time during Contract period carry out inspection of the contractor’s performance methods and procedures.

The contractor must provide transport, equipment, tools, consumables, supervision, protection and labour necessary to successfully complete the contract.

11. SAFETY

The Contractor shall comply with requirements of safety legislation and regulations (OSH Act) in all respects.

The Contractor will be responsible for all protective clothing and equipment for his employees.

12. MEASUREMENTS AND PAYMENTS

Any rejected and incomplete work will not be paid for until it is rectified. Completed work will be inspected and Invoices must be submitted to Rolling Stock

department, after passing the inspection tests.
