  • Open Papyrus capitals with various decoration. The vertical stems in the top left and top right columns are alternative lily and papyrus, representing upper and lower Egypt. Most elaborately ornate capitals date from Ptolomaic times.

Mit dem Bau des Assuandamms drohten die Tempel im Stausee zu versinken. Sie wurden in 1 041 Blcke zersgt und 64 Meter hher und 180 Meter landeinwrts wieder aufgebaut. Seit 1979 steht Abu Simbel auf der UNESCO-Liste fr Weltkulturerbe
