PharmacoEconomics & Outcomes News 590 - 31 Oct 2009 Vaccination coverage for US teens appears to have risen between 2007 and 2008, but still has far to go, according to results from the 2008 National Immunisation Survey-Teen. The survey covered provider-verified vaccination records of 17 835 adolescents between the ages of 13 years and 17 years in the US for the year 2008. It was found that, for the first time, the Healthy People 2010 target was met for hepatitis B (approx. 92% coverage), and measles, mumps and rubella virus (approx. 91% coverage) vaccinations among 13–15-year-olds. National vaccination coverage of 13–17-year olds also increased for the meningococcal conjugate vaccine * (32.4% in 2007 to 41.8% in 2008); the diphtheria, tetanus and acellular pertussis vaccine (30.4% to 40.8%); and the human papillomavirus vaccine recombinant quadrivalent (1 dose: 25.1% to 37.2% of girls).
