What Is CAS? A Web-based Tool for Transfer Students and Advisors, Providing:

• “Transfer planning guides” • Interactive DARS reports that show how a student’s

community college coursework will apply to a university degree

• “Cross-reference planning guides” • Which courses at a community college will apply to a

university degree

• “Course equivalency guide” • Equivalencies and general studies designations for all

Arizona public community college courses to all Arizona public universities (1990 through 2000)

Addressing Student Questions Using CAS: “How Will My Community College Courses Transfer to ASU?” (Major Decided)

• The student enters her community college coursework into CAS• How? Print the “CAS guide” from the CAS homepage!

• The coursework is saved from session to session

• She creates a “planning guide” for her selected major• She receives a DARS report that reads her courses

through all of the relevant CEGs, and applies the courses to her degree requirements• The planning guides are also saved from session to session

• He creates a “cross-reference planning guide”• He would select his institution and major, and also a

community college and year/term

• He receives a DARS report showing:• The applicability of his community college coursework, and

• Other courses at the community college that would apply toward the degree

The Paper Course Equivalency Guide and CAS

• The old CEG, published annually, contained both equivalency and applicability information

• The “course equivalency guide” in CAS contains ONLY EQUIVLANCY INFORMATION!

• If possible, it is always best to create a transfer planning guide for a student

• Please note: CAS is the new CEG. The course equivalency guide in CAS is NOT the new CEG
