The Garrett Searcher April 2020 garrett.com 2

Mario K. has used a variety of metal detectors, but only one has impressed him the most, the Garrett AT Max. His most successful search came last year when he was exploring a hilltop. His AT Max "gave a good signal. I started digging down about 30 cm and I pulled out a handful of earth from the hole with eight silver coins. I was so excited that I jumped up and ended up rolling down the hill some 20 meters and injuring my ankle. I climbed back up the hill with my hurt ankle and pulled out two more silver coins. The coins are all from the Roman Republic! I was so happy that I didn't even notice the pain I had from my ankle. I invited my brother to the top of the hill to help get me down. The AT Max will always remain my number one go to detector!"

• Never trespass or hunt on private property without permission.• National and state parks/monuments, etc. are absolutely off-limits.• Always fill in every hole that you dig.• Do not leave litter or other discarded junk items lying around.• Always carry out all rubbish and dug targets with you when you leave a search area.• Use reasonable caution in digging toward any target, particularly in areas where you are uncertain of the ground conditions.• Keep informed on and obey all local and national legislation relating to the discovery and reporting of found treasures.

Charles Garrett always urged his fellow searchers to conduct themselves as responsible treasure hunters and to leave their hunt areas in better condition than they found them. Please follow your local directives during the current health crisis, but when you are able to safely enjoy detecting, here are just a few of his keys to good conduct in the field:
