Working hand-in-hand with regional

businesses

The University of Wolverhampton Business School has a distinguished history of supporting business in the West Midlands and Black Country. Established for over 80 years, we have trained thousands of local and regional managers. We were one of the first business schools in the country to offer MBA programmes and provide a variety of solutions to business challenges.

The recent economic downturn has demonstrated that businesses can’t stand still. The shifting economic and political climate dictates that to survive and prosper, organisations must adapt, develop their people, review processes and improve service. The competition is tough, constantly seeking to innovate, gain a foothold and ultimately market share. To face this challenge, help is at hand.

The reason the University of Wolverhampton Business School exists is to support business improvement – whether through training employees and managers, providing consultancy and research, or through on-going continuous professional development. We are in business for business.

fruit of the loom worked closely in partnership with the University of Wolverhampton on our management cpD programme. the skilled lecturers of the University were instrumental in delivering a concise programme including: change management; negotiation and consultation skills; business ethics; performance management and culture within multi-national organisations.

they offered a very flexible and tailor-made range of options for us as an employer, ranging from practical sessions including role play and group interactions, to smaller group sessions addressing academic and theoretical models.

the fee structure was competitive and offered good value for money. they delivered a consistent, first class, professional service to us and i have no reason to doubt their service delivery would be any different to you.

Goodyear Dunlop has a long established history with the University of Wolverhampton to deliver its first line manager course. We use tutors from the University as well as internal business managers who attend to give an insight into the life of a manager. the benefits of this process is that the course is externally benchmarked and accredited by the cmi, which gives added kudos for our students but is internally designed to meet our specific needs.

the course is an integral step in our leadership development programme and gives the depth of knowledge that our new managers need to establish their careers.

Many of our students complete a year-long placement or internship during their studies. This could provide your business with an enthusiastic individual who can offer fresh insights, an extra resource for projects with a finite life, and an opportunity to identify potential future graduate employees.

Shorter internships are also available over the summer period, and our undergraduate and postgraduate students are also available to undertake research projects.

Utilising our students

it has been a real pleasure working with the students from the Business school. With the support and guidance of their lecturers they have shown real initiative and enthusiasm, have produced work of a very high standard and have delivered tangible results. the funds they raised have made a real difference to our work and we appreciate the very real effort they put into their entrepreneurial challenge.
