BETWEEN The Curators ofthe University of

Missouri on behalfof THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI- ST.

LOUIS AND

ST. CHARLES COMMUNITY COLLEGE

This program- to -program articulation agreement is the result of joint meetings of the University of Missouri – St Louis hereinafter referred to as UMSL and the Community College hereinafter referred to as SCC. UMSL and SCC agreed that both institutions value this cooperative agreement will best serve the current students of both institutions.

CONDITIONS OF THE JOINT AGREEMENT:

Section I: Admissions and Matriculation

UMSL and SCC agree to develop a joint advising form outlining the four-year program in order to facilitate the most seamless transfer possible for the SCC students enrolled in that institution’s Associate of Fine Arts (AFA) in Music program who desire to complete one of the following Bachelor’s Degree programs at UMSL:

Bachelor of Arts in Music Bachelor of Music:

• Music Education, Vocal• Music Education, Instrumental• Performance, Instrumental• Performance, Keyboard• Performance, Voice• Composition• Theory• Elective Studies in Business

UMSL and SCC agree to inform AFA/BM students of the existence of this institutional articulation agreement and the advantages of pursuing the AFA to BM articulated program in terms of quality and cost.

UMSL and SCC agree to include the articulate program on their website with links to the partner institution.

Section II: Transfer of credit

Page 15: University of Missouri–St. Louis · Recital and Concert Attendance: 0 MUS 021-40: Recital and Concert Attendance 0: MUS 132-01 Music Theory II: 3 MUS 282-01: Music Theory IV 3:

UMSL agrees to accept between 66-72 semester hours of credit from the SCC AFA in Music program to the UMSL music track of their choice. The accepted credit hour max will be dependent on which track is chosen; credit hour amounts are included on sample degree program sheets.

Also, SCC students who have completed the 42 credit hours of Missouri’s general education competency based curriculum will be accepted as having fulfilled UMSL lower division general education requirements.

It should be noted that the AFA in Music degree does not complete general education requirements; the student will have more lower level hours to complete when they transfer to UMSL.

Section III: Program Plan

The four-year sample program plans will be incorporated as addenda to this agreement. These plans will generally specify student degree course plan (emphasis) and transfer credit requirements. Such addenda will go into effect when signed by the administrative representative(s) of each institution, but will require advising to be official for any given student . Degree course plans will be reviewed jointly, on a periodic basis, and modified to reflect any changes in the degree requirements.

Section IV: Institutional Cooperation

UMSL and SCC will develop and support activities that encourage interaction among their AFA/ BM faculties and students.

UMSL and SCC will share information with each other regarding recitals, shows, etc. and students and faculty from each will have access to other’s events.

TERMS OF THE AGREEMENT

This agreement becomes effective in the Fall semester of the 2017 academic year and remains in effect unless changed in writing by mutual agreement of UMSL and SCC. The agreement can be amended at any time with the approval of both institutions. Should either institution desire to discontinue this agreement, advance notification of one year will be required.

Both institutions hereby indicate full agreement to the terms and conditions included above and the honoring of the course, program, and other requirements outlined in the Transfer Guides as attached as appendices to this agreement. UMSL and SCC representatives agree to meet on an annual basis to discuss this articulation agreement and whether revision is required. Responsibility for calling this annual meeting will alternate between UMSL and SCC.

It should be noted that a recital is required at UMSL for all music majors.

Notes: Conducting I was switched to UMSL due to heavy course load at SCC.2 vs. 1 hour lessons courses increases total hours, along with Comp II. Overall hours could change depending on hours for Educ equivalents. The transfer limit for AFA is 72 hours. Summer school and/or extra fall term will alleviate extra-heavy course loads.
