INVESTING IN

NC 2-1-1United Way and the Chatham County Health Department facilitated the implementation of NC 2-1-1, a free, confidential, multilingual resource, to connect Chatham residents to health and human services. It is accessible by simply dialing 2-1-1. Callers are connected to a live operator 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Information is also accessible online at www.nc211.org.

Last year, 149,340 calls representing 163,862 needs were serviced by NC 2-1-1 call specialists statewide. In fact, the call volume from Chatham County residents increased 76% from the previous year. Data regarding the most requested resources in Chatham is available online, which ensures that United Way funding is directed to the most critical needs in the county.

Chatham Health Alliance and The Community Assessment United Way is a member of the Chatham County Health Alliance, which is a collaborative working to improve health in Chatham County. Led by the Chatham Health Department, the Alliance completed the 2018 Community Assessment. The results were analyzed to create Chatham’s 2018 Health Impact Priorities. They are: Access to Comprehensive Health Services, Obesity and Poverty. These priorities are now the focus of the Health Alliance’s work.

The Alliance has developed a cohort of 350 residents who will be surveyed over time to monitor the delivery of social services. In fact, the 2019 Community Survey is currently underway. This information will be helpful to the Health Department, United Way and other human service organizations to ensure that resources are being directed to the most critical and urgent needs in our community.
