The Leadership Academy is intended for current and emerging leaders who are interested in furthering the mission and goals of the Missouri Community Action network. The academy is a 12 month course focused on the following management and leadership areas:

1. History of Community Action 2. Strategic Framework for Community Action 3. Leadership: Personal4. Leadership: Organizational 5. Communication: Personal6. Communication: Cultural Diversity7. Communication: Advocacy 8. Motivating for Optimum Performance9. Human Resource10.Financial Management11.Planning and Execution12.Graduation: Personal and Professional Development Goals

1. Members will be able to effectively advocate for low-income families through increased awareness and knowledge.

2. Members will become empowered change agents in their community by developing and demonstrating specific leadership qualities; members will build personal and agency capacity leading to increased efficiency and efficacy in day to day activities by focusing on the following skill areas: communication, advocacy, diversity, non-profit management, leadership and planning.

Participant must create a portfolio that will include a plan to conduct a community project based on their passion. The portfolio will begin as the onset of the Academy and consist of reflection questions and homework from each module.

The Family Development Credential program provides frontline workers with the knowledge and skills they need to coach families to set and reach their own goals for healthy self-reliance in their communities..

To earn the FDC, workers take 90 hours of classes based on Empowerment Skills for Family Workers, complete a portfolio documenting their ability to apply these concepts and skills, and pass a standardized exam.

Is a unique leadership and personal development opportunity for mid-level Community Action managers who are interested in developing their leadership, training, and consulting skills to further the mission and goals of Community Action

The Missouri Internal ROMA Consultant (IRC) Project is a five-part, four-month comprehensive program that uses the ROMA concepts of assessment, planning, implementation, and reporting in conjunction with other Community Action-specific tools to develop ‘trainer/leaders’ throughout the Missouri Community Action network.

The Step Up To Leadership Curriculum is a dynamic community building tool.

Developed in Missouri by and for Community Action, the twelve week Step Up to Leadership Curriculum was designed to develop leadership skills and to prepare individuals with limited resources for active involvement with their local civic organizations.

Structured around themes like “Planning for Your Passion” and “Understanding Diversity,” this program could have an energizing effect across a wide spectrum of community goals.
