The Tbilisi Teaching University Gorgasali was founded in 1995. In accordance with the requirements resulted from the reforms in the educational system, the University successfully has passed all stages of official authorisation and accreditation processes. Today, the University is ranked as third-best University in Georgia. Within its globalorientation, the University adopted a new global strategy in 2015. Its most significant expression is that Gorgasali University changed its name to International Universityof Georgia in 2016.

The University has full Degree Awarding Powers from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Georgia. Georgia is aligned with the European Bologna Process making these the Degrees of the University cognate across Europe and beyond. The University is accredited by the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement (NCEQE), affiliate of ENQA (European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education), which conducts recognition of educational institutions based on Georgian legislation authorised by the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia.

Internationally the University is, e.g., fully recognised by UK NARIC offering its Degrees equivalence to those of British universities or by Germany’s regulating authority Ständige Konferenz der Kultusminister (KMK). Many other such recognitions, e.g., by Austria or the Netherlands, and even beyond Europe do exist as well. As stated before, Georgian Higher Education is fully aligned with the Process of Harmonisation of Higher Education in Europe, also known as Bologna Process. Hence, the University awards Degrees with ECTS credits.

It is essential highlighting that the International University of Georgia is a fully fledged University, with a whole variety of subject areas to which belong, e.g., the famous Department of Healthcare Studies (incl. Pharmacy and Stomatology), with its state of the art Dental Clinic and the affiliated University Hospital, the renowned Law School, itsLanguage Institute, the Faculty of Literature, and so on.

More than that, the University’s collaboration with global Partner Universities from Europe, the Caucasus-Region, Africa, and the Far-East also enables it to extend studies into the fields of international and inter-cultural management. The Doctor in Medical Dentistry(Master in Dental Surgery)

The Master’s programme of studies of the Doctor in Medical Dentistry (Master in Dental Surgery) is a most comprehensive programme of studies in medicine. Graduates are fully equipped with knowledge and skills in dentistry and beyond to work in a dental clinic or have their own one. Sophisticated and specific modules introduce students to the full range of what they need as practising dentists or dental surgeons. All modules complement each other and develop the full extent, which dental surgeons have to know. Besides four elective modules, all other modules are grouped into seven specific subject groups covering:

Ÿ General ModulesŸ Medico-BiologyŸ Therapeutic DentistryŸ Surgical DentistryŸ Orthopedic DentistryŸ Child DentistryŸ Clinical Courses (incl. Hospital Internship)

Through the integrated internship with the University’s affiliated University Hospital, which is accompanied and supported by respective taught medical modules, students’ knowledge is advantageously extended into fields of general medicine. Thus, the programme of studies delivers the full range of knowledge and capabilities for opening successful careers according to implemented high European standards in medicine.

The Master’s programme of the Doctor in Medical Dentistry (Master in Dental Surgery) comprises five years as standard period of studies. It is a so-called integrated programme of studies meaning that it automatically covers Bachelor and Master’s level at the same time. Consequentially a prior Bachelor degree is no necessary entry requirement and school leavers can directly apply and enrol. The programme of studies is fully conform with European requirements on Postgraduate medical studies. Due to its comprehensiveness on superior level of Healthcare studies and its integration of both Bachelor and Master’s level, the Degree awards 300 ECTS credits (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) in total. This way, the programme of studies demonstrates the outstanding excellence of Graduates and also opens ways to directly progress to doctoral studies after successful completion.

Entry Requirements and Study Fees

The Doctor in Medical Dentistry (Master in Dental Surgery) programme belongs to the so-called ‘integrated’ programmes of studies. That means, it implies the first (Bachelor) and the second (Master) cycle of Higher Education. The programme awards 300 ECTS credits, therefore comprising both Bachelor and Master Degree level (Undergraduate + Postgraduate studies) at the same time.

The programme of studies addresses candidates, who have finished school with a good College Degree, Baccalaureate or equivalent other national qualification.

The University widely acknowledges Certificates of schools and other Further Education institutes not regarding their country of origin. Only prerequisite is that the issuing Further Education institute is officially recognised in its country of origin.

The programme is accredited as an international Doctor in Medical Dentistry (Master in Dental Surgery) programme. Hence, it is taught in English language.

Study Fees:

- Application Fee (not refundable): € 500.00- Tuition Fee: € 3.500.00 per year of studies- Standard Period of Studies: five years (10 semesters)

Georgia is a very welcoming country. That starts with student visa applications. A different, but well-established two-step process facilitates applications, since allowing direct support through the University. I.e., in the first step, the University directly registers its applicants with the Ministry of Education and Science. Once approved, the official document is then returned to the applicant, who can then apply with the responsible Georgian Embassy for their country. This reduces uncertainty about issuance of a student visa decisively.

The International University of Georgia’s support does not end here. It also is very supportive and offers significant assistance regarding finding accommodation and integration into students’ new life experience in a foreign country, which likely most have never visited before. The University’s Student Ambassadors continuously help to find ways and not to feel alone and lost. The University wants to feel students from abroad to be welcome and at home. But of course, our international students are building their own groups, too, and discover culture and country. The University itself is located in the capital of Tbilisi’s most prestigious part: easy to reach and near to the city centre with its manifold shopping opportunities.

Living cost in Georgia is very affordable. Depending on individual expectations on quality and size of their accommodation, students should calculate between € 300.00 and € 350.00 per month, which already includes expenses for food. Compared to other studies in Western Europe that is far less, than in nearly all Western European countries just for accommodation.

For many parents safety is a major concern. Georgia is a stable democracy and very safe place. The country’s legal system wasadopted from German law. Georgia offers a secure place for living. If a student needs medical assistance, the University’s own expertise with its affiliated University Hospital certainly is a first address. Of course, the University’s own Dental Clinic offers first class assistance, whenever needed.

Culture and kitchen of Georgia are rich, friendly, and there is much to discover: the mountains of the Caucasus invite for hiking, the coast of the Black Sea is ideal for swimming and diving, the city of Tbilisi is a treasure of culture with excellent shopping opportunities. And, all is surrounded by picturesque landscapes and original villages. Georgia’s tourism and hospitality industry is a driving factor of the country’s economy.
