NEWSBRIEFWith an average rating of 87 percent, the College of

Arts and Letters (CAL) debate team was declared as the

Champion of the Debate Competition yesterday after clash-

ing with the College of Business, Economics and Manage-

    ment (CBEM).

Therese Isabelle Vega, Prime Minister of CAL DebateTeam, was proclaimed as the Best Debater.

After so many years nanalo ulit yung CAL sa debate.

    Its so overwhelming, she said.

Together with her in the team were Michael Angelo

Gallego, Claire Margarette Bona and Peter Angelo Jolloso.

After the competition, Nick Pilapil, a debater from the

College of Nursing, proposed to create an organization for

    debaters in Bicol University (BU).

I think its time for BU, as a premier state university,

to live up to the expectations because other schools are al-

ready joining national and international debates, he said.

The event was held at the College of Nursing Amphi-

theater and was organized by the University Student Coun-

cil in partnership with the Blue Feather Society.
