    be registered for work with Student Job Search (or if theres not a Student Job Search in your region, a Work andIncome service centre) and

    be actively looking for full-time workand

    intend to study full-time after your study breakand

    have received or will receive the Student Allowance. If youre in hardship and you dont qualify for the StudentAllowance you may still be able to get the Unemployment Bene t Student Hardship. Youll also need to completethe Additional Hardship application form on pages 10 and 11.

    You will have a stand-down, or waiting time, from when you qualify for the Unemployment Bene t Student Hardship,until the time you are entitled to your bene t. You wont get paid during this stand-down.

    If you have a partner or a child and youre in hardship because your Student Allowance has stopped and youre waitingfor your Unemployment Bene t Student Hardship to start, you may be able to get the Student Allowance TransferGrant. You can apply for this by answering question 1 on page 12.

    If you have not been in previous study or you are 1617 years old and getting a Student Allowance your applicationmay be processed as an Emergency Bene t. If this happens, you will get the same amount as you would have received ifyou got Unemployment Bene t Student Hardship.
