Hofstedes approach:
the culture onion Core: values, in other words, how people believe things ought to be,what they hold dear to them. This level is invisible and is manifestedthrough the three other layers:
- rituals : such as festivals, ways of paying respect, hanging out trends- icons : persons admired by the society as a whole- symbols : words, artefacts, pictures that
carry a special meaning(mindspace.worldpress.com)

4. Uncertainty avoidance
It indicates to what extent a culture programs itsmembers to feel either uncomfortable or
comfortable in unstructured situations.(Unstructured situations: novel, unknown, surprising, different from usual).Uncertainty avoiding cultures try to minimize thepossibility of such situations by strict laws andrules, safety and security measures, and on thephilosophical and religious level by a belief inabsolute Truth.
