Na tekovinama antike i kasne antike razvio se srednjovjekovni život Fažane i okolice. O tom razdoblju, posebice onom najra-nijem, ne zna se mnogo, no, sa sigurnošću se može reći da je kršćanstvo na ovim prostorima u ranom srednjem vijeku bilo duboko ukorijenjeno. Tome su svjedoci brojni ostaci sakralnog graditeljstva poput lokaliteta Sv. Elizeja, Sv. Lovre, Sv. Flora (Fi-oran), Sv. Pelegrina i Vele Boške kraj Valbandona.

Vrijeme formalnog početka Župe, njen teritorijalni opseg i po-četni ustrojbeni status, teško je odrediti, međutim, moguće je pretpostaviti da je Župa utemeljena u x. ili xi. stoljeću, možda upravo 1028. godine kada veći dio teritorija Fažane preuzimaju puljski biskupi.

U povijesnim se izvorima kao Župa prvi put spominje 1150. go-dine, u vrijeme sukoba Venecije i istarskih gradova, kada se prilikom sklapanja mirovnih uvjeta navodi kao jedna od župa na području puljštine.

Za vladavine Republike Sv. Marka (1331. – 1797.) Fažana je bila jedno od najvitalnijih mjesta Puljštine. U to vrijeme mjesto do-biva reprezentativnije profane građevine, a predanost vjersko-me životu očituje se u obnavljanju crkve Sv. Kuzme i Damjana i gradnji novih sakralnih građevina – crkava Sv. Marije od Kar-mela i Sv. Ivana Evanđelista na groblju.

Župa Fažana obuhvaćala je do 19. stoljeća, kada joj se priključu-ju brijunska i perojska župa, područje današnje općine Fažana. Danas župa svetog Kuzme i Damjana obuhvaća naselja Fažanu, Valbandon, Peroj i Brijunsko otočje.

history of the fažana parish

The life of the Middle Ages of Fažana and its surroundings logically contin-ued on the tradition of the Classical and late Classical periods. Not much is known about this period, especially its very beginning, but it is clearly evident that Christianity was deeply rooted in the early Middle Ages, which is proved by numerous remains of sacral architec-ture such as St. Eliseus, St. Lawrence, St. Flor – Fioran, St. Pelegrin and Vela Boška near Valbandon.

It is difficult to determine its formal date of origin, territory it encompassed and initial organizational status. How-ever, considering the intensive additional construction and expansion of religious structures, especially the church complex of SS. Cosmas and Damian, it may be as-sumed that the Parish was established in the 10th or 11th century, precisely in 1028 when Fažana came into possession of the bishops of Pula.

It was first mentioned in historical re-cords as a Parish in 1150, during the clash-es between Venice and Istrian towns, and mentioned in peace settlements and treaties as one of the parishes on the ter-ritory of Pula.

During the rule of St. Mark's Republic (1331 – 1797) Fažana was one of the most important centers of the Pula area. At the time Fažana got its representative pro-fane structures, whereas its dedication to religious life is revealed in the reconstruc-tion and expansion of the church of SS.

Cosmas and Damian, and construction of new sacral structures – the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, and the Church of St. John the Evangelist at the cemetery.

Until the 19th century, when the Bri-juni and Peroj parishes were incorpo-rated, the Fažana Parish comprised the area of present-day Fažana Municipality. The Parish of SS. Cosmas and Damian today includes the towns of Fažana, Val-bandon, Peroj and the Brijuni Islands.

La vita medioevale di Fasana e dintorni si è sviluppata sulle conquiste del periodo antico e tardo antico dei quali non si sa molto, in particolare di quello più antico. Si può però senza dubbio affermare che il Cristianesimo in questi luoghi era forte-mente radicato già nel primo Medioevo. Ciò è pure testimoniato dai numerosi re-sti delle costruzioni sacre como la località S. Eliseo, S. Lorenzo, S. Flora (Fioran), S. Pellegrino e Vela Boška a Valbandon.

È difficile stabilire quale sia il periodo d'inizio formale dell'attività della parroc-chia e il suo ambito territoriale ma si sup-pone che la parrocchia sia stata fondata nel X e XI secolo, forse proprio nel 1028 quando fu rilevata dai vescovi di Pola.

Le fonti storiche la citano per la prima volta nel 1150, ai tempi del conflitto fra Venezia e le città istriane, in occasio-ne della stipulazione delle condizioni di pace, come una delle parrocchie sul ter-ritorio polese.

Durante il dominio della Repubblica di S. Marco (1331 – 1797), Fasana era uno dei posti più vitali del circondario di Pola. In questo periodo, vengono costruiti degli edi-fici profani più rappresentativi, mentre la dedizione alla vita religiosa si manifesta nel rinnovo e l'ampliamento della chiesa dei SS. Cosma e Damiano e nella costru-zione di nuovi edifici sacri – la chiesa del-la Madonna del Carmelo e la chiesa di s. Giovanni Evangelista al cimitero locale.

Fino al XIX secolo la parrocchia fasane-se comprendeva il territorio dell’odierno Comune di Fasana, poi vi si aggiunsero le parrocchie di Brioni e Peroi. La parrocchia dei SS. Cosma e Damiano oggi compren-de i villaggi di Fasana, Valbandon, Peroj e l’arcipelago delle Brioni.

Vor dem Hintergrund der Antike und Spätantike entwickelte sich das mittel-alterliche Leben von Fažana und Umge-bung. Über diese Zeit, besonders über die früheste, weiß man nicht viel. Doch man kann mit Sicherheit sagen, dass das Christentum in diesen Gebieten im frühen Mittelalter tief verwurzelt war. Davon zeugen zahlreiche Reste sakraler Bauten – Kirche des Heiligen Elisäus, Heiligen Laurentius, Heiligen Flora – Fi-oran, Heiligen Pelegrinus und Vela Boška bei Valbandon.

Der Beginn der Pfarre, ihr territorialer Umfang und ihre ursprüngliche Verwal-tungsaufgabe ist nicht eindeutig festzule-gen. Doch hinsichtlich des intensiven Zu-baus und der Erweiterung der Sakralbau-

ten, besonders des Komplexes der Kirche der Heiligen Cosmas und Damian, ist anzunehmen, dass die Pfarre im 10. und 11. Jahrhundert begründet wurde. Mögli-cherweise im Jahr 1028, als sie von den Bischöfen von Pula übernommen wurde.

In den historischen Quellen wird die Pfar-re zum esten Mal im Jahr 1150 erwähnt, in der Zeit der Auseinandersetzungen zwischen Venedig und den istrischen Städten, bzw. während des Abschlusses der Friedensverhandlungen als eine der Pfarren im Gebiet von Pula.

Während der Herrschaft der Republik des Heiligen Markus (1331 – 1779) war Fažana einer der lebendigsten Orte im Raum von Pula. In dieser Zeit entstehen reprä-sentative profane Bauten. Die Hingabe gegenüber dem religiösen Leben zeigt sich in der Erneuerung und Erweiterung mehrerer Teile von Sakralbauten, die Hingabe des Lebens im Glauben spiegelt sich in der Erneuerung der Kirche der Hl. Cosmas und Damian und im Bau neuer sakraler Gebäude – die Kirche der seeli-gen Jungfrau Maria von Karmel und die Kirche des Heiligen Johannes, des Evan-gelisten am Ortsfriedhof.

Die Pfarre Fažana umfasste bis zum 19. Jahrhundert, als die Pfarren von Brio-ni und Peroj dazukamen, das Gebiet der heutigen Gemeinde Fažana. Die Pfarre der Heiligen Cosmas und Damian heute schließt die Ortschaften Fažana, Valban-don, Peroj und die Inseln Brioni ein.

Nalazi se u samom središtu nekadašnje starog dijela Fažane. Podignuta je na mjestu starog antičkog sklopa za izradu am-fora i ostalih keramičkih proizvoda koji se nalazio u centru današnje Fažane. Nije poznato kada je sagrađena prva crkva, možemo samo reći da je ona vjerojatno postojala krajem 8. sto-ljeća. O tome svjedoči samo jedan materijalni dokaz - ulomak grede oltarne ograde koji se nalazi uzidan odmah uz ulaz u da-našnju župnu crkvu. Na njemu čitamo: M(a)ΔO(n)AE IRMINO EPISCOP(VS), što se prepoznaje kao spomen pulskog biskupa.

Iznad stare crkve izgrađena je gotička građevina izduženog tlo-crta s poligonalnom apsidom. Tada je lokalni kipar izradio ula-zni portal s reljefima svetaca Kuzme i Damjana. Luneta portala nedavno je obojana, ali su srećom sačuvane stare fotografije pa možemo vidjeti kako je ona izgledala prije intervencije. U istom se stoljeću oslikava unutrašnjost crkve, i naručuje novo drveno raspelo. Crkvi je u 16. stoljeću dograđena sakristija koja je odmah i oslikana te se na njenom istočnom zidu nalazi ve-lika freska "Raspeti Krist" u društvu fažanskih zaštitnika i dru-gih svetaca.

Nakon dogradnje i proširivanja koje je uslijedilo 1688., crkva dobiva današnje gabarite.

Crkvi je naknadno u prvoj polovici xix. stoljeća dograđen prez-biterij i preuređeno pročelje u neoklasicističkom stilu, a prili-kom temeljite restauracije u vremenu od 1928. – 1932. uglav-nom vraćen izgled iz 1688. godine. Na ulazu u crkvu s unutraš-nje strane, oslonjeno na gotički portal nalazi se pjevalište s orguljama iz 1858. godine, poduprto s dva monolitna kamena stupa 1881 godine.

The church is situated in the very center of the onetime historical part of Fažana. The Parish Church of SS. Cosmas and Damian was erected at the site of the an-cient amphora production complex and ceramics workshop, located in the center of present-day Fažana. The construction of the first church cannot be dated with certainty, however it probably existed at the end of the 8th century. This can be testified by only one material evidence – fragment of an altar screen architrave built into the wall right next to the en-trance of today's parish church. It reads: M(a)ΔO(n)AE IRMINO EPISCOP(VS), which is considered a reference to the Pula bishop.

Above the old church a Gothic structure of elongated ground plan with polygonal apse was built. The entrance portal with reliefs of SS. Cosmas and Damian, execut-ed by a local sculptor, date from the same period. The lunette of the portal has been recently painted, but fortunately the pre-served old photographs show what it looked like before the intervention. The interior of the church was decorated and a new wooden crucifix was commis-sioned in the 15th century as well. In the 16th century the onetime Romanesque church was transformed into a sacristy, and its eastern wall holds a large fresco “Crucified Christ” in the company of the patron saints of Fažana and other saints.

Following reconstruction and extension that later followed, it assumed its present appearance in 1688.

In the first half of the 19th century a presbytery was added and the facade was reconstructed in the Neoclassical style. Thorough restoration work was under-taken in the period 1928 – 1932 to return the church to its original appearance from 1688. At the church entrance, on the inner side, leaning on the Gothic portal, is the choir with organ dating from 1858, supported by two monolith stone pillars from 1881.

La chiesa si trova nel pieno centro di quello che era una volta il nucleo stori-co di Fasana. La chiesa parrocchiale dei SS. Cosma e Damiano è stata innalzata nel punto dove prima sorgeva un antico complesso per la realizzazione di anfore e altri prodotti in ceramica che si trova-va nel centro dell’odierna Fasana. Non è noto quando sia stata costruita la prima chiesa, ma possiamo solo affermare che questa sia probabilmente esistita verso la fine dell’viii secolo. Lo dimostra un’uni-ca prova materiale – il frammento di una balaustra dell’altare, murato vicino all’en-trata nell’odierna chiesa parrocchiale. Su questo frammento si legge: M(a)ΔO(n)AE IRMINO EPISCOP(VS). La scritta rappre-senta un ricordo del vescovo di Pola.

Sopra la vecchia chiesa è stato costruito un edificio gotico dalla pianta allungata, con abside poligonale. All’epoca lo scultore lo-cale aveva realizzato un portale d’entrata con i rilievi dei SS. Cosma e Damiano. La lunetta del portale è stata recentemente verniciata, ma per fortuna si sono con-servate le antiche fotografie e in questo

modo possiamo vedere il suo aspetto pre-cedente all’intervento. Nello stesso se-colo viene decorato l’interno della chiesa e commissionato un nuovo crocifisso in legno. Nel XVI secolo è stata aggiunta la sacrestia che è stata subito affrescata e raffigura “Cristo sulla croce in compagnia dei patroni di Fasana e di altri santi”.

Dopo il restauro e l’ampliamento, la chie-sa nel 1688 assunse le forme odierne.

Nella prima metà del XIX secolo, alla chie-sa è stato annesso il presbiterio ed è sta-ta rifatta la facciata in stile neoclassico. Durante un accurato restauro svolto nel periodo dal 1928 al 1932 la chiesa ha riac-quistato l’aspetto del 1688. All’entrata nel-la chiesa, sul lato interno, poggiato su un portale gotico, c’è il coro con l’organo del 1858 sostenuto da due monoliti del 1881.

Die Kirche befindet sich im Zentrum des ehemaligen Altstadtteils von Fažana. Die Pfarrkirche der Heiligen Cosmas und Da-mian wurde an Stelle einer alten antiken Anlage, in der Amphoren und andere Ke-ramik hergestellt wurden, errichtet, die sich im Zentrum des heutigen Fažana be-fand. Es ist nicht bekannt, wann die erste Kirche gebaut wurde. Wir nehmen aber an, dass sie wahrscheinlich bereits Ende des 8. Jahrhunderts bestand. Davon zeugt nur ein materieller Beweis – ein Teil eines Balkens einer Altarbrüstung, der gleich am Eingang in die heutige Pfarrkirche eingebaut ist. Darauf ist zu lesen: M(a)ΔO,(n)AE IRMI-NO EPISCOP(VS), was als Erwähnung des Bischofs von Pula zu erkennen ist.

Über der alten Kirche wurde ein gotischer Bau mit einem länglichen Grundriss mit polygonaler Apsis errichtet.

Auch dieser Eingriff ist an der Fassade zu erkennen. Damals schuf ein einheimi-scher Bildhauer das Eingangsportal mit den Reliefs der Heiligen Cosmas und Da-mian. Die Lunette des Portals wurde vor kurzem bemalt. Glücklicherweise sind die alten Fotografien erhalten, so dass wir erkennen können, wie die Lunette davor aussah. Im selben Jahrhundert wurde auch das Innere der Kirche ausgemalt und ein neues hölzernes Kruzifix bestellt. Der Kirche wurde im 16. Jahrhundert eine Sakristei hinzugefügt, die gleich darauf bemalt wurde. An ihrer östlichen Wand befindet sich ein großes Fresko „Christus am Kreuz in Gesellschaft der Patrone von Fažana und anderer Heiliger.

Nach der Restaurierung im Jahr 1688, erhielt sie die heutigen Ausmaße.

Die Kirche bekam in der 1. Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts ein Presbyterium, die Fas-sade wurde in neoklassizistischem Stil erneuert. Während einer gründlichen Restaurierung in den Jahren 1928 – 1932 erhielt die Kirche das Aussehen, das dem aus dem Jahr 1688 entsprach. Am Eingang der Kirche befindet ich an der inneren Seite, angelehnt an das gotischer Portal, der Chor mit einer Orgel aus dem Jahr 1858, gestützt durch zwei monolithische Steinsäulen aus dem Jahr 1881.

Postolje i nodus kaleža ukrašeni su isku-canim i lijevanim figurama kerubina. Pozlaćenu čašu kaleža nosi perforirana čaška na kojoj su opet izvedeni kerubini, bobičasti plodovi i lišće.

The foot and nodus of the chalice are decorated with embossed and cast figures of cherubs. The gilt chalice cup is borne by a pierced calyx with representations of cherubs, berries and leaves.

Postolje pokaznice ukrašeno je iskuca-nim anđelima koji nose simbole Kristove muke (kocke, križ, čekić i čavli), dok su na kruškoliki nodus aplicirane lijevane glavice kerubina. Okvir okrugle spremni-ce s lunulom ispunjen je oblicima nalik oblacima, a vijenac je sastavljen od ko-pljastih i plamtećih zraka sunca. Na vrhu je lijevana figurica Krista sa zastavom uskrsnuća.

The foot of the monstrance is decorated with embossed angels bearing symbols of the Passion of the Christ (dice, cross, hammer and nails), while the pear-shaped nodus bears three cast cherub heads. The frame of the round case with a lunula is filled with shapes resembling clouds, while the wreath has the shape of a sunburst. The monstrance is topped by a cast figurine of Christ with a flag of the resurrection.

La base dell'ostensorio è ornata con degli angeli sbalzati che portano gli Strumenti della Passione di Cristo (i dadi da gioco, la croce, il martello e i chiodi), mentre sul nodo a pera sono applicate delle te-ste di cherubini realizzate con la tecnica della colatura. La cornice del contenitore rotondo con lunula è decorata da forme simili a nuvole, mentre la corona è ornata con dei raggi di sole infuocati. Sulla punta c'è una figura gettata di Cristo con la ban-diera della resurrezione.

3. Monstranz (Hostienostensorium) Beginn des 18. Jahrhunderts

Der Fuß der Monstranz ist mit gehämmerten Engeln verziert, die Symbole des Märtyrer-tums Christi tragen (Würfel, Kreuz, Hammer und Nägel), während am birnenförmigen Nodus gegossene kleine Köpfe von Cherubi-nen angebracht sind. Der Rahmen des Hos-tienbehälters mit Lunula ist mit wolkenähn-lichen Formen verziert. Der Kranz besteht aus speerartigen und hell leuchtenden Son-nenstrahlen. An der Spitze ist eine gegosse-ne kleine Figur Christi mit der Siegesfahne der Auferstehung angebracht.

Uzdignuto postolje kandila ukrašeno je nizom kosih ovulusa, a trbušasto tijelo okomitim obrubljenim ovulusima. Tri izlivene aplike u obliku anđeoskih glavica u funkciji su držača za lance, a zvonasto hvatište zaključeno je motivom lisnate čaške.

5. Vigil lamp 19th century

The raised base of the vigil lamp is deco-rated with a series of slanty oval forms, and the paunchy body bears perpendicular outlined oval forms. Three cast appliques in the shape of angel heads serve as chain holders, while the bell-shaped grip ends with the motif of a leaf-shaped calyx.

5. Turibolo xix secolo

La base rialzata del turibolo è decorata da una serie di forme ovali oblique, mentre il corpo è arrotondato, con forme ovali perpendicolari e orlate. Tre sostegni get-tati a forma di teste d'angelo hanno la funzione di sorreggere le catene, mentre l'impugnatura a campana termina con un motivo di calice frondoso.

5. Weihrauchfass 19. Jahrhundert

Ein erhobener Fuß des Weihrauchgefäßes ist durch eine Reihe schräg verlaufender ovaler Verzierungen, der bauchförmige Körper durch vertikal angebrachte läng-lich-ovale Verzierungen gestaltet. Postolje kandila ukrašeno je stiliziranim li-stovima akantusa, a trbušasto tijelo masiv-nim kartušama. Poklopac je prošupljen tako da tvori lepezaste motive ispod kojih je opet kružnica s lisnatim ukrasom. Tri izlivene aplike u funkciji su držača za lance, a kruš-koliko hvatište ispunjeno je užljebinama.

The base of the vigil lamp is decorated with stylized acanthus leaves, while the paunchy body bears massive cartouches. The lid is perforated creating thus fan-like motifs with underlying circle with leaf forms. Three cast appliques serve as chain holders, while the pear-shaped grip is covered with flutes.

La base del turibolo è decorata con delle foglie stilizzate d'acanto, mentre il corpo rotondeggiante con dei cartigli massicci. Il coperchio è perforato e crea dei motivi a ventaglio sotto ai quali si trova un altro cerchio con una decorazione a foglie. Tre sostegni gettati hanno la funzione di sor-reggere le catene mentre l'impugnatura a forma di pera è coperta da scanalature.

Der Fuß des Weihrauchfasses ist mit stilisierten Akanthusblättern verziert, der bauchförmige Körper mit massiven Kartuschen. Der Deckel ist derart durch-löchert, dass er fächerförmige Motive bildet, darunter einen Kreis mit blätter-artigen Verzierungen. Drei gegossene Ap-plikationen haben die Funktion von Ket-tenhaltern. Der birnenförmige Oberteil hat vertiefte Rillen.

Drveni nosioc križa obložen je legurnim limom. Na njega su apliciran križ, reljefi tri ptice i simboli Kristove muke - trska sa spužvom i koplje. Na mjestu križanja hasti ovalni je spremnik s relikvijom Sve-tog križa.

Wooden support of the cross is coated with alloy sheet metal. A cross, reliefs of three birds and symbols of the Passion of the Christ – cane with sponge, are affixed onto it. At the arms crossing is an oval case with the relic of the Holy Cross.

Nel punto dove s’incrociano le braccia della croce, si trova un contenitore ovale con la reliquia della Santa Croce.

An der Stelle, wo sich die Balken kreuzen, befindet sich ein ovaler Behälter mit der Reliquie des Heiligen Kreuzes.

Drvo, polikromirano / 85 x 50 x 25 cm

Bogorodica u sjedećem stavu odjevena je u crvenu nabranu haljinu stisnutu u struku i ogrnuta dugačkim plavim plaštem koji joj posve prekriva glavu. Na desnom koljenu posjednuto je nago Dijete čije nemirne noge Majka pridržava lijevom rukom, dok mu desnu prislanja na leđa. Njeno lice je punašno, usta malena, i napućena, oči blago spuštenih kapaka. Skulpturu je izra-dio friulanski drvorezbar kako se to čita u nekoliko njenih značajki – tvrdo gužvanim naborima pri dnu halje, dubokim nabori-ma između njenih nogu i kroju ogrtača kao prekrivala za glavu. Skulptura je donedav-no krasila crkvu Sv. Marije Karmelske, a sada se čuva u župnom uredu.

The seated Madonna is dressed in a red draped robe tied in the waist enfolded in a long blue cloak completely covering her head. With her left hand she holds the restless feet of the naked Child seated on her right knee and holds her right hand on his back. Her face is plump, mouth small and pursed, eyes with slightly drooped eyelids. The sculpture was made by a wood carver from Friuli as revealed by several traits – folds with sharp edges at the bottom of the robe, deep folds between her feet and the cut of her cloak as veil. Until recently, the sculpture adorned the church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, and is now kept in the parish office.

16. Scultura della Madonna col Bambino fine del xv secolo

La Madonna, in posizione seduta, indossa un vestito rosso a pieghe, stretto in vita ed è coperta con un lungo mantello di colore blu che le ricopre completamente la testa. Sul ginocchio destro è seduto il Bambino nudo; con la mano sinistra la Madonna sostiene le gambette irrequie-te del Bambino, mentre la mano destra è poggiata sulla schiena. Il suo viso è pieno, le labbra piccole e arricciate, le palpebre sono leggermente abbassate. Secondo alcune caratteristiche che presenta (le pieghe fortemente sgualcite verso il fon-do del vestito, le pieghe profonde fra le gambe e il taglio del mantello che copre il capo), la scultura è stata realizzata da un artista friulano. L’oggetto che fino a poco tempo fa ornava la chiesa di S. Maria del Carmelo, e ora è custodito nella parroc-chia.

16. Skulptur der Mutter Gottes mit Kind Ende des 15. Jahrhunderts

Die sitzende Mutter Gottes trägt ein rotes Kleid mit Falten, das in der Taille zusam-mengerafft ist und einen blauen Mantel, der ihr den Kopf bedeckt. Auf dem rech-ten Knie sitzt das unbekleidete Jesuskind, dessen uruhige Beine die Mutter mit der linken Hand hält, während sie mit ihrer rechten Hand seinen Rücken stützt. Ihr Gesicht ist voll, der Mund klein und et-was gewölbt, mit leicht fallenden Augen-lidern. Die Skulptur stammt von einem Holzbildhauer aus Friaul, was man an ei-nigen Besonderheiten der Skulptur able-sen kann – die stark zusammengerafften Falten am unteren Teil des Kleides, mit tiefen Falten zwischen den Beinen und dem Schnitt des Mantels mit Kaputze. Die Skulptur schmückte bis vor kurzer Zeit die Kirche der Heiligen Maria von Karmel. Jetzt wird sie im Pfarramt aufbe-wahrt.

Trostrano visoko postolje, kojeg nose tri lavlje šape, ukrašeno je cvjetnim motivi-ma sa srcolikim mjehurom u sredini. Na kruškoliki nodus aplicirane su tri glavice kerubina. Na vrhu se svijećnjak širi u čaš-ku iz prstena s masivnim kuglastim ele-mentima.

Oben verbreitert sich der Kerzenständer mit einer kleinen Schale aus einem Ring mit massiven Halbkugelelementen.

Oltarni svijećnjaci izvedeni su od drve-ta, a ukrasi na njihovoj površini od štuka. Njihova su podnožja trostrana, geometrij-ski oblikovanih rubova s cvijetom u sre-dini. Svijećnjaci imaju više međučlanova oblikovanih poput lisnatih čaški. Na vrhu su im metalni tanjurići za svijeću, a na dnu tri okrugle nožice.



Altar candlesticks are made of wood, while the decoration on their surface is made of plaster. Their bases are three sided, of geo-metrically shaped rims with a flower in the middle. Candlesticks have several ele-ments in the shape of leaf-shaped calyxes. On top are metal nozzles for the candle and at the bottom are three round legs.

I candelieri d'altare sono realizzati in le-gno, e le decorazioni sulla loro superficie sono in stucco. Le basi presentano tre lati, gli orli hanno forme geometriche con un fiore al centro. In cima ci sono dei piattini in metallo per sostenere le candele, men-tre sulla base, tre piedi rotondi.

Die Altarkerzenleuchter bestehen aus Holz. Die Verzierungen an ihren Oberflä-chen sind aus Stuck. Sie haben drei Füße mit geometrisch gestalteten Rändern mit einer Blume in der Mitte. Die Kerzenstän-der bestehen aus mehreren Teilen, die wie blättrige Schalen gestaltet sind. An der Spitze haben sie kleine Teller für die Kerzen und an der Basis drei runde kleine Füße.

23. Oltarna pala „Bogorodica od Sedam Žalosti, sv. Antunom Padovanskim i sv. Nikolom“,

Nepoznati majstor, ulje na platnu 194 x 147 cm

Nije posve sigurno odakle potječe ova ol-tarna pala, no pretpostavka je da je izra-đena za oltar crkve Sv. Ivana evanđeliste na groblju u Fažani. Na njoj je prikazana Bogorodica kako u svojoj tipičnoj odje-ći, crvenoj halji i plavom plaštu, sjedi na oblacima i moli, a u srce joj je zabodeno sedam oštrica s drvenim drškama. Ispod nje su sv. Antun Padovanski u odjeći fra-njevca i sv. Nikola odjeven u biskupsku odjeću. U pozadini je ljubičasto sivkasti brdoviti pejsaž, a uokolo Bogorodice su sunčane zrake i anđeli. Tip žalosne Bogo-rodice koja pati zbog Krista oslanja se na proročanstvo starca Šimuna: „Tvoju dušu probost će mač boli“ (Lk 2,35). Tu najveću bol ona je osjetila sedam puta: na Kristo-vom obrezanju, bijegu u Egipat, kad ga je nakratko izgubila kao dječaka, za vrijeme nošenja križa, raspeća, skidanja s križa i polaganja u grob.

23. Altar pala "Our Lady of Seven Sorrows, St. Anthony of Padua and St. Nicholas"

We are not quite certain about the origin of this altar pala. However, it was sup-posedly made for the altar of the Church of St. John the Evangelist at the Fažana cemetery. It depicts the Madonna in her typical garments, red robe and blue cloak, sitting on clouds in prayer with seven swords with wooden handles in her heart. Beneath her are St. Anthony of Padua dressed in a Franciscan robe and St. Nicholas dressed as a bishop. In the background is a violet-grayish mountain-ous landscape while the Madonna is sur-rounded by sun rays and angels. The type of sad Madonna suffering after Jesus lies on the prophecy of Simeon the old man: "And a sword will pierce through your own soul"(Luke 2:35). Seven times she felt this greatest pain: on the occasion of Christ's circumcision, when fleeing to Egypt, when she shortly lost him as a boy, when bearing the cross, during crucifix-ion, deposition and entombment.

La provenienza di questa pala d'altare non è del tutto certa ma si suppone che sia stata realizzata per l'altare della chie-sa di S. Giovanni Evangelista nel cimitero di Fasana. Sulla pala c'è l'immagine della Madonna che nel suo abito tipicamente nero, la veste rossa e il mantello blu, sta seduta sulle nuvole e prega, mentre il cuore è trafitto da sette lame con impu-gnature di legno. Sotto la Madonna vi è l'immagine di S. Antonio da Padova in ab-bigliamento francescano e S. Nicola che indossa un abito da vescovo. Sullo sfondo c'è un paesaggio collinoso dalle tinte gri-gie, e attorno alla Madonna ci sono i raggi del sole e gli angeli. Il tipo della Madonna triste che soffre per Cristo si avvale della profezia di Simeone il Vecchio: “una spa-da trafiggerà la tua anima” (Luca 2, 35). La Madonna ha sentito per sette volte que-sto dolore: la circoncisione di Cristo, la fuga in Egitto della Sacra Famiglia, la per-dita del Bambin Gesù, l'incontro di Maria e Gesù lungo la Via Crucis, Maria ai piedi della croce dove Gesù è crocifisso, Maria accoglie nelle sue braccia Gesù morto, Maria vede seppellire Gesù.

Unbekannter Künstler, Öl auf Leinwand 194 x 147 cm

Es ist nicht völlig sicher, woher dieses Altarbild stammt, doch man vermutet, dass es für den Altar der Kirche des Hl. Johannes des Täufers für den Friedhof von Fažana gemacht wurde. Auf dem Bild ist die Mutter Gottes in ihrer typischen Kleidung, in einem roten Kleid und ei-nem blauen Mantel, dargestellt, wie sie auf Wolken sitzt und betet. In ihrem Her-zen stecken sieben Pfeile mit Holzgriffen. Unter der Mutter Gottes stehen der Hl. Antonius von Padua in Franziskanerhabit und der Hl. Nikolaus in einem Bischofsge-wand. Im Hintergrund ist eine lila-graue hügelige Landschaft zu erkennen. Um die Mutter Gottes gibt es Sonnenstrah-len und Engel. Der Typus der traurigen Mutter Gottes, die wegen Christus leidet, lehnt sich an die Weissagung des alten Si-mon: „Deine Seele wird vom Schwert des Schmerzes durchstochen“ (Lk 2,35). Die-sen Schmerz verspürte sie sieben Mal: bei der Beschneidung Christi, auf der Flucht nach Ägypten, als sie ihn einmal als Jun-gen verlor, während des Tragen des Kreu-zes, bei der Kreuzigung, bei der Abnahme vom Kreuz und bei der Grablegung.

Nepoznati majstor, ulje na platnu 75 x 100 cm (95 x 120)

Središte kompozicije ovog kvalitetnog djela je Bogorodica u sjedećem stavu, odjevena u zagasito ružičastu halju s uoč-ljivim pokrivalom za glavu izvedenim od više slojeva bijele tkanine. U desnoj ruci drži otvorenu knjigu okrenutu prema promatraču, na krilu joj je usnulo nago Dijete isto u sjedećem stavu, a uz njega je nešto jači dječačić – Ivan Krstitelj. Cijeli prizor promatra sv. Antun Padovanski i skrušeno se moli. Izraziti chiaroscuro ko-jim majstor modelira likove, a koji je na-ročito naglašen u licu ljupkog Bogorodiči-nog lika te zagasiti kolorit koji dominira na slici, ne nalazimo niti na jednoj drugoj slici fažanske župe.

The center of the composition of this fine work is the seated Madonna dressed in a dark pink robe with a prominent veil in several layers of white fabric. In her right hand she holds an open book, the covers facing her. In her lap is the naked Child asleep also seated and next to him a some-what stronger boy – John the Baptist. St. Anthony of Padua, humbly in prayer ob-serves the whole scene. The pronounced chiaroscuro in which the master models his figures and which is especially promi-nent on the graceful face of the Madonna as well as on the dark color scheme domi-nant on the painting, is a feature unique to this painting in the Fažana parish.

Al centro della composizione di questa preziosa opera c'è la Madonna, in posizio-ne seduta che indossa un abito dal colore rosa spento con un velo appariscente sul capo, realizzato con più strati di tessuto bianco. Nella mano destra regge un libro aperto rivolto verso l'osservatore, tiene in braccio il Bambino nudo e addormen-tato anche in posizione seduta, e vicino a lui c'è un altro bambino, leggermente più forte – Giovanni Battista. S. Antonio da Padova osserva la scena e prega con-tritamente. Lo spiccato chiaroscuro con il quale il maestro dà forma ai personaggi, particolarmente accentuato nel grazioso volto della Madonna e il colore spento che domina il dipinto, non sono presenti in nessun altro quadro della parrocchia di Fasana.

Die Mitte der Komposition dieses wert-volles Werkes stellt die sitzende Mutter Gottes, in ein dunkelrotes Gewand ge-kleidet mit einer auffallenden Kopfbede-ckung, die aus mehreren Schichten eines weißen Stoffes ausgeführt ist, dar. In der rechten Hand hält sie ein zum Betrach-ter gerichtetes Buch. Auf dem Schoß hält sie das schlafende, nackte und sitzende Jesuskind. Daneben ein etwas kräftigerer Junge, Johannes der Täufer. Die ganze Sze-ne betrachtet der Hl. Antonius von Padua und betet hingebungsvoll. Das ausgepräg-te Chiaroscuro, mit dem der Meister die Figuren modelliert, das besonders im Ge-sicht der lieblichen Mutter Gottes betont ist, wie auch das dunkle Kolorit, das das Bild dominiert, das finden wir auf keinem anderen Bild der Pfarre von Fažana.

25. Zavjetni dar — drveni brod 19./20. stoljeće

Pomno izrađen drveni jedrenjak s dva jarbola nalazio se do prije desetak godina na bočnom zidu župne crkve sv. Kuzme i Damjana. Riječ je o svjedočanstvu pučke pobožnosti gdje su vjernici, ili kao zalog za Božju zaštitu, ili kao zahvalu za uspješ-nu plovidbu i povratak kući, darovali svo-je zaštitnike.

Until some ten years ago, the meticu-lously crafted wooden two-mast sailboat stood on the lateral wall of the Parish Church of SS. Cosmas and Damian. This testifies to popular piety in which wor-shippers, either as a pledge for Lordly protection, or in gratitude for a successful journey by sea and return home, made of-ferings to their protectors.

Veliero in legno lavorato accuratamente che fino a una decina d’anni fa si trovava sulla parete laterale della chiesa parroc-chiale dei SS. Cosma e Damiano. Si trat-ta di una testimonianza della religiosità popolare, dove i fedeli davano in pegno i loro santi protettori in cambio della protezione divina o in segno di ringra-ziamento per una buona navigazione e il rientro a casa.

Ein aufmerksam ausgearbeitetes Segel-schiff mit zwei Segeln befand sich bis vor ungefähr zehn Jahren an der Seitenwand der Pfarrkirche der Heiligen Cosmas und Damian. Es handelt sich um ein Zeugnis der Volksfrömmigkeit, bei der die Gläubi-gen entweder als Gabe für den Schutz Got-tes oder aus Dankbarkeit für eine erfolg-reiche Seefahrt und eine glückliche Heim-kehr ihre Schutzpartrone beschenkten.

26. Zavjetni darovi (ex voto) – privjesci, ukrasi za kosu, lančići i prstenje

19. — 20. stoljeće

Izloženi nakit izbor je iz niza zavjetnih darova koje čuva fažanska crkva posljed-njih dvjestotinjak godina. Izrađen je od zlata,srebra, pozlaćenog srebra, bojanog stakla, dragog kamenja, bijelih perlica, a oblici su razni - od filigranskih privjesaka u obliku latinskog križa, do klasicistič-kih plošnih privjesaka s bijelim perlica-ma koje tvore florealne motive. Ističu se prsteni različitog dizajna, ali i zanimljiv ukras za kosu s motivima žireva. Sve je to nakit kojim su se kitile žene fažanskog kraja, a koji su poklonili Gospi u znak za-hvalnosti za uslišane molitve.

The exhibited jewelry is a selection of a number of votive gifts kept by the Fažana church over the past two hun-dred years. The gifts are made of gold, silver, gold plated silver, colored glass, precious stones, white pearls, all in dif-ferent shapes – from filigree pendants in the shape of a Latin cross, to classicist flat pendants with white pearls creating floral motifs. Interesting are rings of vari-ous design, as well as the hair decoration with the motif of acorns. This jewelry was worn by women in the Fažana area and offered to the Madonna in gratitude for their answered prayers.

26. Doni votivi — cioondoli, ornamenti per cappelli, catenine e anelli

xix/xx secolo

I gioielli esposti sono la selezione di una serie di doni votivi custoditi dalla chie-sa fasanese negli ultimi duecento anni. Sono realizzati in oro, argento, argento dorato, vetro colorato, gemme preziose, perle bianche e le forme sono varie – dai ciondoli in filigrana a forma di croce la-tina, ai ciondoli piatti classicistici con perline bianche che danno origine a mo-tivi floreali. Si distinguono gli anelli dal design vario, ma anche una decorazione interessante per i capelli con motivi a forma di ghianda. Tutti questi erano dei gioielli portati dalle donne dell'area fa-sanese e venivano regalati alla Madonna in segno di riconoscenza per le preghiere ascoltate.

26. Votivgaben (ex voto) — Anhänger, Haarschmuck, Kettchen und Ringe

19./20. Jahrhundert

Der ausgestellte Schmuck ist eine Aus-wahl aus einer Reihe von Votivgaben, die die Kirche von Fažana in den letzten 200 Jahren aufbewahrt. Der Schmuck ist aus Gold, Silber, vergoldetem Silber, gefärb-tem Glas, Edelsteinen, weißen Perlen. Die Formen sind unterschiedlich – von filigranen Anhängern in Form eines la-teinischen Kreuzes bis zu klassizistischen flachen Anhängern mit weißen kleinen Perlen mit florealen Motiven. Ringe unterschiedlichen Designs heben sich hervor, aber auch interessanter Haar-schmuck mit Eichelmotiven. Mit derar-tigem Haarschmuck schmückten sich die Frauen von Fažana, den sie der Mutter

Gottes als Zeichen ihrer Dankbarkeit für das Erhören ihrer Gebete schenkten.

Niska trbušasta posuda ukrašena je nizom preklopljenih listova u donjem dijelu. Na rub posude aplicirani su plošni reljefi ke-rubina u funkciji držača ručke. Posuda je galvanizirana.

Low paunchy vessel decorated with a series of overlapping leaves in the lower part. Flat reliefs of cherubs are applied onto the rim of the vessel serving as han-dle grips. The vessel is galvanized.

Il recipiente basso e panciuto è ornato da una serie di foglie piegate nella parte inferiore. Sull'orlo del recipiente ci sono dei bassorilievi di cherubini che hanno la funzione di tenere la maniglia. Il reci-piente è galvanizzato.

Niedriges bauchförmiges Gefäß, das mit einer Reihe sich überdeckender Blätter im unteren Teil verziert ist. Am Rand des Gefäßes sind flache Reliefs von Cherubi-nen als Griffhalter angebracht. Das Gefäß ist galvanisiert.

Najstarija tiskovina u župnom uredu Fa-žana ovaj je zbir antifona. Antifone su pjevani odgovori ili pjevani uvodi kora ili kongregacije, najčešće pri čitanju psala-ma, ali i drugih religijskih tekstova. Ovi kratki napjevi sadržavaju glavnu misao psalama ili blagdana u kojem se izvode.

This collection of antiphons is the oldest printed book in the Fažana parish office. Antiphons are sung responses or portions of the choir or the congregation, most commonly when reading psalms and oth-er religious texts. These short chants con-tain the main idea of the psalm or feast day on which they are sung.

Il materiale stampato più antico della parrocchia di Fasana è questa collezione di antifone. Le antifone sono delle rispo-ste e delle introduzioni cantate da cori o congregazioni, nella maggior parte dei casi durante la lettura di salmi, ma anche di altri testi religiosi. Queste brevi melo-die contengono il pensiero principale dei salmi o della festività in occasione della quale si cantano.



Das älteste Druckwerk im Pfarramt von Fažana ist diese Sammlung von Anti-phonen. Antiphone sind gesungene Ant-worten oder gesungene Einleitungen des Chores der Kongregation, meist beim Lesen von Psalmen, aber auch anderen religiösen Texten. Diese kurzen Gesän-ge beeinhalten den Hauptgedanken der Psalmen oder der Feiertage, zu deren An-lass sie gesungen werden.

Od sačuvanih matičnih knjiga u župnom uredu Fažana, najstarija je predmetna knjiga krštenih. Riječ je o rukopisu u 5 svezaka koji su međusobno povezani tankim konopcem i pričvršćeni drvcima. Kožni uvez nedostaje.

Of all preserved registers in the Fažana parish office, this Register of baptisms is its oldest. It is a manuscript composed of 5 volumes bound together by a thin cord and fastened by thin pieces of wood. Leather covers missing.

Fra i registri conservati nella parrocchia di Fasana, il più antico è il registro dei battesimi. Si tratta di un manoscritto in 5 volumi legati assieme da una corda fine e fissati con delle tavolette di legno. Manca la rilegatura in pelle.

35. Taufmatrikel 1638 —1691

Von den erhaltenen Matrikelbüchern im Pfarramt von Fažana ist dieses Taufmat-rikel das älteste. Es handelt sich um eine Handschrift in 5 Bänden, die miteinander mit einem dünnen Faden zusammenge-heftet sind und die mit kleinen Holzstäben verstärkt sind. Der Ledereinband fehlt.
