The APV Steam Infusion Steriliser, Type SDH
APV Technology
APV has supplied UHT plants or
sterilisation o milk and other liquid pro-
ducts since the late 1950s, and today
APV oers a complete range o direct
and indirect UHT systems with either
plate, tubular, scraped surace heatexchangers, inusion or injection.
Today, the most advanced and exible
direct UHT treatment is the APV inu-
sion steriliser, type SDH
The APV inusion system is ully auto-
mated ensuring optimal control o the
plant. It is supplied with capacities rom
150 I/h to 44,000 I/h with the standard
temperature profle: 5 -75 -145 -73 -
25C.

The APV inusion UHT concept can
also be supplied as add-on solution
to all common UHT plants rom other
manuactures.
The product enters the system through
the balance tank and is pre-heated
prior to inusion. The heart o the sys-
tem is the inusion chamber.
The patented nozzle system in the
inusion chamber creates a cylindero product strings in the centre o
the chamber. From the sides, steam
is distributed at low velocity towards
the product centre, and thereby the
product is heated gently and ast to the
sterilisation temperature.
Air released rom the product during
heating is removed through the top o
the chamber. At the bottom, a cooling
jacket ensures a constant thin flm o
condensate isolating product rom the
stainless steel surace.
The synchronised ow o product,
steam, air and condensate creates the
optimum heat transer even or very di-
fcult products.
The product is then accurately ster-
ilised in an innovative holding tube, and
then cooled in the ash chamber and
immediately pumped to the homoge-niser and fnally cooled by regeneration
to the flling temperature.
