Today, Uganda marks 52 years since she gained her independence on the

October 1962. The journey for Uganda to become a free society has

and odious. We greatly appreciate all those whose great effort contributed
towards Uganda regaining her freedom, among other states, he said.
He expressed confidence that Somalia is on the right path for development,
cautioning that the peacebuilding mission will require a holistic approach,
especially incorporating the countrys youths and ensuring that the challengesthey face today, such as widespread unemployment, lack of access to education,
high levels of poverty, among others are addressed.
The Somali President H.E Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud explained the historic
relations the two countries have enjoyed; thanking the Ugandan President H.E
Yoweri Museveni for having made the ultimate sacrifice in deploying his troops
to Somalia in 2007, at a time when the world thought the situation could not be
salvaged.
Congratulations to H.E the President and the people of Uganda for the 52
nd
anniversary of their independence. We all are proud of the development,
progress and prosperity Uganda has achieved in the last decades. It is one of the
role models that this region has and we will continue to follow them, and I
appreciate and I say again, congratulations to Uganda.
Ambassador Maj. Gen. Nathan Mugisha hosted his guests to a sumptuous cocktail
as part of the celebrations.
