District and Urban Road (DUR) Mapping and Roads Database Project in UGANDA

District and Urban Road (DUR) Mapping and Roads Database Project in UGANDA A GIS Approach to Road Management in UgandaRoads and Bridges Department,Ministry of Works and TransportKisitu TimothyBackgroundThe Government of Japan, through JICA, formulated a technical cooperation project for the Government of Uganda, through the Ministry of works and Transport

Currently the DUR database contains road inventory and condition data for District and Urban roads.PROJECT OUTPUTSOut Put 1: A GIS Digital base Map of DUR was preparedOut Put 2: Road Inventory & condition data was collected and managed properly through the collaboration between MoWT and DUCs.

Out Put 3: DUR database was established and is properly maintained by MoWT

A GIS Digital base Map of DUR was prepared

Future of Road database Basic data on road facilities is collected into a database. The database will contain structure data and other textural and numerical information as well as associated drawings, pictures, and other image data. The database will be a warehouse for such data, from which information can be sent to other service systems.
