GOSPEL: Luke 17:11-19 In this story of a miraculous healing, ten lepers cry out to Jesus for help. In Jesus' time, lepers were outcasts of society. Jesus tells them to go show themselves to the priests, who will witness their healed condi-tion and allow them back into society. Only one leper, a Samaritan, returns to Jesus to praise and thank God. This man is not a Jew but a foreigner. Jesus points out that the Samaritan leper has gained some-thing far more important than a physical cure; he has gained his eternal salvation. 1.) Did you ever wonder why the other nine lepers did not return to thank Jesus? 2.) Try to think of some reasons: one may have hurried back to his fam-ily; another may have meant to thank Jesus, but got busy with other things and forgot. Can you think of some other reasons? 3.) Do you always thank someone for a gift? Why or why not? How do you do it? 4.) When and how do you give thanks to God for his gifts to you? (Hint: What does the word Eucharist mean?)

EVANGELIO: Lucas 17:11-19 En esta historia de milagro y curación, diez leprosos piden ayuda a Jesús. En tiempos de Jesús, los leprosos eran despreciados por la sociedad. Jesús les dice que vayan y se muestren a los sacerdotes, quienes serán testigos de su sanación y les permitirán retornar a la sociedad. Sólo un leproso, samaritano, regresó a Jesús para dar gra-cias a Dios. Este hombre no es judío sino extranjero, señala Jesús. Jesús dice que ese samaritano ha ganado algo más que es más impor-tante que la salud física; él ganó su salvación eterna. 1.) ¿Algunas vez te has preguntado por qué los otros nueve leprosos no vinieron a dar las gracias a Jesús? 2.) Trata de pensar en algunas de las razones: uno puede haber corrido a ver su familia; otro quizás quería agradecer a Jesús pero se ocupó en otra cosa y se olvidó. ¿Puedes pensar otras razones? 3.) ¿Agradeces siempre los regalos que te hacen? ¿Por qué sí o no? ¿Cómo agradeces? 4.) ¿Cuándo y cómo das gracias a Dios por los regalos que te da? (idea: ¿Qué significa la palabra eucaristía?)

Knights of Columbus:

On this Sunday. October 10th after all the masses the Knights of Columbus will be conducting its Annual Fundraising Drive to Benefit People with Intellectual Disabilities. Also concurrent with the above fund-raiser, the Knights of Columbus Council # 11033 will be holding a Membership Blitz to recruit new members. St. Vincent de Paul:

Epiphany’s St. Vincent de Paul Conference thanks all Epiphany School students and parishioners for their generous donations of food and money for the poor on September 25th & 26th. We also thank the students who helped sort and bag these groceries for peo-ple in need. May God bless you for your kindness!

Halloween Dance: Epiphany’s Grupo Hispano invites you to their annual Halloween Dinner Dance on Saturday, October 30th, in the cafeteria. Doors open at 6:00pm with No-host cock-tails. International Night 2010: It’s that wonderful time of year again! On Saturday, November 6th, we will be having our 13th Annual International Night Din-

ner. During this evening, we have an all you can eat menu of: African-American , Chi-nese, Filipino, Hispanic, Irish foods and des-sert! In addition to the great food, we have amazing entertainment from different cul-tures. This is one of the wonderful ways we celebrate our diversity. This is the church's largest fund-raiser. If you have never been to one, we hope you will join us this year! We are also asking for your help. We are asking for raffle prizes. Please contact the Parish Office. Dinner tickets for adults are $25 and children are $12 for children under 12 yrs.

Epiphany's’ Athletic Program will be having tryouts for boys basketball on Tuesday, Oc-tober 12th, in the Gym. All School of the Epiphany students, School of Religion stu-dents, registered parishioners and students living within Epiphany Parish boundaries are eligible to participate. Tryouts are :

Help Us Keep Our Church and School Safe:

The safety of our parishioners and groups is one of our main concerns. As Daylight Savings approaches, we want to remind you of some important precautions.

The church will be closed at 5:00pm during the week and after the 5:30pm Masses on the weekends.

If your group meets in the evening and/or night, please make sure you lock yourselves in during your meeting.

Remember that ALL meetings must end be-fore 9:00pm.

After your meetings, make sure all lights are turned off and doors are locked. Please report any concerns to the Pastor. Thank

you for your cooperation!

Cena Internacional 2010: ¡Ya está por llegar! El sábado 6 de noviembre celebraremos nuestra Cena Internacional. Esa noche podrá deleitarse sirviéndo-

se comidas típicas de la cultura afroamerica-na, china, filipina, latinoamericana e irlande-sa, así como deliciosos postres cuantas veces quiera. Además gozará de entretenimiento presentando las diferentes culturas étnicas que componen nuestra familia parroquial. Es una noche en la que celebramos la diversidad de nuestra comunidad. Lectores y Ministros Extraordinarios de la Eucaristía para las misa en inglés y español será en la misa de las 10:00am del domingo 31 de octubre. En ambas fechas se pide que los participantes lleguen al templo a las 9:40am.

noche, por favor asegúrese de cerrar todas las puertas durante su reunión. Todas las reuniones deben de concluir antes

de las 9:00pm. Asegúrese de que todas las puertas estén
