Before printing, we must solve a several technical problems:

- How to fix such large piece of fabric for achieving a precision registration of colors

Page 9: Turin Shroud

• Treated fabric of special impregnate for stiffening

Page 10: Turin Shroud

• gluing fabric to plastic surface

Page 11: Turin Shroud

But, the best solution, from our point of view, was to stretch the fabric on a metal frame

Page 12: Turin Shroud

For this we made 10 special metal frames

4750

4450

1350

1150Metallic Spacers

Page 13: Turin Shroud

We stretched fabric on the frame by pneumatic stretching devise with a tension of 5 N / cm

Page 14: Turin Shroud

The result was disappointing

Page 15: Turin Shroud

After this frame design was changed

4750

4450

1350

1150

Page 16: Turin Shroud

Such large size of frame required changing of printing table

Page 17: Turin Shroud

For this we designed and manufactured 2 additional tables

Page 18: Turin Shroud

Additional table was independently adjusted for precision colors registration

Page 19: Turin Shroud

On these three tables was installed the new main printing table, which was made from the plywood board

Page 20: Turin Shroud

This board was covered the sheet of composite material DIBOND

Page 21: Turin Shroud

In same time we start test print on the small pieces of fabric

The printing process have 8 colors (LC; LM; LY; MM; MC; MY; K; DM)

The printing process took place as follows

Printing technique was slightly modified

First printed in the right part of the image from the center to edge, then frame to turn, and printed in the left part of the image, from center to edge too

After printing, to the frame was attached wheels

and than the frame was moved under UV - lamp

All work took 3 months

After that, the Shroud was give to the customer and consecrated in Turin, by imposing on the real Shroud
