Pastor Hesse - Easter Continues
Christ Is Risen
He Is Risen, Indeed!
Alleluia!
I hope and pray that each of you had an enjoyable Easter celebration. Easter is without a doubt my
favorite holiday of the year. It is a holiday that has survived as a mostly Christian holiday in our
culture. As with anything, our society has learned to market and sell Easter in a variety of ways and
with an increasing amount of dollars. However, the holiday itself is still predominately a Christian
holiday void of some of the controversy associated with Christmas.
In our church’s tradition the celebration of Easter lasts 7 weeks leading up to the ascension of our
Lord. You will remember Jesus ascended into 40 days after his resurrection with the day of
Pentecost only 10 days after that. This is not just the allotted time for consuming all of our Easter
candy. It is an opportunity to stretch out our joy of Easter into the days weeks beyond the time the
stores’ clearance and long after the rest of the world has stopped celebrating. Carrying the same joy
of Easter beyond Easter Sunday gives the opportunity to make fresh the promises of God in our
lives each and every day. Additionally, the longer we celebrate the joy in this year the more that joy
is shared with those around us who have already put Easter away until next year.
In the days of the first Easter their were two of Jesus’ followers heading to Emmaus and Jesus
walked with them. You might remember this story or you can reread it in Luke 24. As they walked
along the road with Jesus they were kept from recognizing him. Meanwhile, Jesus explains the
Scriptures to them and St. Luke reports, “They asked each other, ‘Were not our hearts burning
within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?’” (Luke
24:32) As God through His Word applies the promises Easter, promises of life eternal and
promises of victory over death and the devil, I pray that as followers of Jesus we too will be filled
with a burning desire to continue celebrating the joy found in those promises.
We know that because of the promises God has given to us, that Easter is not yet over. We must
encourage each other (our fellow members and brothers and sisters in Christ) to continue
celebrating Easter through our regular worship of God and our proper use of His promises and
gifts. We must continue sharing our Easter joy by reaching, teaching, and encouraging others
through the saving love of Jesus Christ in a community that has already put Easter away until next
year. Christ has indeed risen, He has risen indeed! Alleluia!

This month our Faith Milestone will be celebrating our 5th Grade Students and
their families. We will be gifting these precious families with a very special 365
day Family Devotional to encourage them in their daily practice of taking time
for God, family and prayer.
Let’s celebrate their milestone on April 17th at the 10:30 am Worship.
Sunday School News:
April Sunday School Theme is “Perseverance—Refusing to
give up when life gets hard.” Remember that we start in the

Thanks to you we meet our goal! We collected over 2,500
pairs of shoes to not only help our youth who are attending
the National Youth Gathering, but also helping provide mi-
cro-business opportunities to families in Haiti so that they
can provide food and education for their children. Many
thanks to those who brought shoes, sorted shoes, and
shared our campaign with others. We are truly grateful!
Many thanks to these amazing 2nd and 3rd Grade
Students for all their help in sorting and bagging
shoes for our campaign. The school did an amaz-
ing job of helping provide 1/3 of the shoes needed
for our shoe drive!

Living Life, TOGETHER, in Christ as…One Family!
Our journey as One Family continues as we look to our risen Lord and sing our Alleluias once again! As we enter into our last quarter of the school year, we are celebrating the wonderful Easter message…Christ Is Risen…He Is Risen, Indeed, Alleluia! What makes this time so special is that we always look forward to the opportunity to share what our Savior, Jesus, has done for us all. We are grateful for our Lutheran school that can take this time to reassure God’s precious children and their families that they are unconditionally loved, forgiven, and have the blessed assurance of life eternal with Jesus. That is why the Easter story and its message are so important to us, as we continue to do God’s mission of “reaching, teaching, and encouraging all God’s children and their families through the saving love of Jesus!” So, as we move forward with so many activities, events, and celebrations that will mark our 68
th academic year; we do so with the joy and hope
that we continue to Live Life, TOGETHER, in Christ as ONE FAMILY! A strong “One Family” partnership with you as we together make sure that this daily message of hope and love can be shared with as many children
and their families as possible. TLCS for sixty-eight years
has planted seeds of hope in the lives of so many families and as we begin the process of enrollment once again for next year, we seek the prayers and direction of our loving Father and place into His hands our future programs, our school ministry and its mission. We look to the future with courage and the conviction that God will certainly continue to bless Trinity Lutheran Christian School as we Touch Lives and Impact Future Generations of Christian Leaders! What better gift can we give or be a part of when we have the chance to impact a child’s life FOREVER! We pray and trust that He will continue to provide the means to seek more ways to be about His work.
May God continue to richly bless each of you as we
celebrate the joy of Easter and as we partner in a ministry that touches lives in such special ways…now and for eternity!

First Grade April News Happy Spring Time! April finds us eagerly anticipating the downhill slide to the end of another school year. We have so much more to do as we prepare to become second graders. In our Religion lessons, we continue the study of our salvation. We will focus on the very things that make Christians unique. Christianity is not based on what we do, but on what Christ has done for us! We have joy in telling others about what He has done for us. We are looking forward to also learning about the lessons Jesus taught through the parables. In our Math studies we will begin to learn about adding groups of tens, plane shapes, and measuring. In Science we are learning that matter is everything around us. We will expand on the types of matter – solids, liquids, and gases. In Social Studies we will learn about famous Americans in history. We are also comparing and contrasting life in the past with life today. First Graders feel that we have it much easier today in many ways.
We will have Achievement Testing the week of April 11th. As you can tell, there’s never a dull moment in First Grade or at Trinity Lutheran Christian School! Please feel free to join us if you are ever bored!! Thank you, Trinity Lutheran Church, for our amazing school and classmates! In His Love & Service, Mrs. Nancy Hurst First Grade Class

LWML
The LWML would like to thank everyone that
supported the Antique Road Show in April, and
now we can put our eyes on the next event in May,
A May Day theme. Be sure to watch the Bulletins
and Inserts in the Bulletins for all the details.
Praise the Lord!
Elders "When they arrived at Jerusalem, they were received by the
church and the apostles and the elders, and they reported all
that God had done with them".
There is so much to be proud of that we have done with God
here at Trinity Lutheran. From the recent development of an
exploratory committee to consider a unification with Christ
Lutheran, to all the good works of our congregation, Trinity
Lutheran Church, School and Childcare! What a joy and
blessing it is to be a member of our church.
As elders of this congregation, we must always accept our
responsibilities, and may God not think of our congregation as
being lukewarm. A congregation that is pleased with its
beautiful facilities, budgets, membership, music ministry, etc.,
but ignorant of its real need—the work of God—is in trouble.
May we see our needs clearly and recognize that God chastens
those He loves. We must repent and be quick to open the door
when Christ knocks. Are our congregational hearts open? As
elders, it is our responsibility to encourage an open-door policy
in the hearts of our congregation. If people will not listen to
God’s Word, they certainly will not obey His commandments.
Ladies Day Guild
Ladies Day Guild will meet again April 5th in the parlor at 1
pm. Hostesses will be Margie Moore and Dorothy McKinney.
We are asked to bring a baby picture of ourselves. We will also
have election of President and Secretary. Misty Walker has the
closing devotion. Hope to see you there!
Congratulations! Hunter Tormey chosen to sing with the Texas TMEA All-State
Choir
Congratulations to Hunter Torrey who was selected to sing
with the Texas TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association)
All-State Choir in San Antonio, Texas in February. All-State is
the highest honor a Texas music student can receive. Over
1,600 students are selected through a process that begins with
over 64,000 students from around the state vying for this honor
to perform in one of the 15 ensembles (band, orchestras, and
choirs). This competitive process begins throughout the state
in auditions hosted by 28 TMEA Regions. Individual musicians
perform selected music for a panel of judges who rank each
instrument or voice part. From this ranking, a select group of
musicians advances from their Region to compete against
musicians from other Regions in seven TMEA Area
competitions. The highest-ranking musicians judged at the
TMEA Area competitions qualify to perform in a TMEA All-
State music group. These All-State students participate in three
days of rehearsals directed by nationally recognized conductors
during the annual state TMEA Clinic/Convention. Their
performances before thousands of attendees bring this
extraordinary event to a close. Congratulations to Hunter for
this outstanding accomplishment.
