Training Readiness Checklist

IntroductionThis document presents a template checklist for customers to complete as prerequisites for training. By completing this list, customers provide optimum conditions for the training – aligning overall objectives, staff engagement, operational readiness, facilities and content.

This list (with modifications as required) should be presented to customer as soon as a requirement for training has been made clear. The customer will raise questions based on this list – which helps towards the successful presentation of the training.

OverviewThe VideoBadge and VideoManager training session will cover all aspects of the use, care and day to day operation of the VideoBadge Body Worn Video camera system for front line personnel. For supervisors / managers the training covers creation of evidential material and the use of some of the more advanced features of the back-end software application - VideoManager.

Depending on the customer’s needs, the training package comprises 2 – 3 hours on site, with configuration and “hands on” training for all attendees. The aim is to also provide enough instruction for any training staff to be able to pass on and facilitate their own training, configuration and deployment of equipment at additional locations in the future. It is usually most effective for the training to take place on the actual installed equipment (i.e. where the VideoBadges, VideoManager and docking stations are located), but the training can be carried out in a classroom or conference room if that is more practical.

The training session usually works best in small groups thereby giving all participants a chance for hands on experience without a lengthy wait.

The system is highly configurable and customers will want to adapt it to suit their own workflow. With this in mind the following readiness checklist poses a number of questions a customer needs to answer (as far as possible) in order to structure the training session according to their needs and the nature of their business.

R8. Will the VideoBadge cameras be assigned from a

shared pool or assigned to the same officer each time as personal issue?

R9. If using a shared pool will individual officers assign

themselves a VideoBadge at the start of each shift or will this be done by a supervisor?

R10. Will individual officers be responsible at the end of the

shift for viewing and processing evidential footage they have recorded or will this be done by someone else?

Section 4: Have you decided and agreed your Operational Procedure and Policy?

Our training focuses on the technical side of how to use the VideoBadge system – ideally attendees will have been trained or given guidance on the Standard Operating Procedures put in place by their organisation. This will cover

interactions with members of the public, rules over when it is appropriate to record and not record and the handling of video evidence produced. We can offer guidance with this if required but our training does not cover standard

operating procedures as this is a matter for the police to cover.

R 11. Do you have a Standard Operating Procedure or deployment guidelines for using Body Worn Video?

R 12. Have all VideoBadge users been trained in your Standard Operating Procedures for Body Worn Video?

Section 5: Please provide details where possible for your initial users – This will minimise delays in configuration necessary before starting any of the classes. Fill out the table below with a list of names

of the officers who will be involved.

H 13. Decide who will be wearing a VideoBadge body camera (for list of operators)

H 14. Decide who will be using the VideoManager software application for video processing (for list of Users)
