Traine - Traide works within the community and assists people in maximising their earning potential by making training, career and business options accessible.

This is achieved through four distinct services:

• career guidance including job searching, CV writing and interview skills

• training opportunities leading to recognised qualifications

• access to employment placement, both permanent and internships

• business start-up incubator.

TrainE-TraidE began offering its services in September 2006, focusing mainly on provision for the Orthodox community. TrainE-TraidE has since expanded its offering to the wider Jewish Community and is now accessed by people from very diverse backgrounds. TrainE-TraidE’s provision of courses leads to a wide range of careers with lectures and seminars provided in a culturally sensitive environment appealing specifically to audiences traditionally not able to access higher and further education.

shraga ZaltzmanManaging Director of Traine-Traide

Shraga Zaltzman, TrainE-TraidE’s managing director is an experienced business manager bringing to TrainE-TraidE a wealth of commercial experience. His previous roles include business development manager for a highly successful multi-national distributor of Telecommunications (Nokia) and Fast Moving Consumer Goods, primarily for BAT. Shraga was born in South Africa, and has spent a number of years in the United States and Israel. Shraga spent two years at Gateshead Yeshivah and following that three more years at the Mir Yeshivah in Jerusalem. He holds a BA in Technology, Marketing and Management from the Jerusalem College of Technology and an MBA from Bar Ilan.

Debbie sheldon

Debbie attended Hasmonean High School for Girls before studying at Michlalah Jerusalem College for Women. A qualified teacher, Debbie graduated from Middlesex University with a degree in Education and Computing. Debbie’s teaching experience strides both primary and secondary schools, where her positions have included head of IT, exam coordinator and head of counseling services. Debbie is responsible for the development of training courses for TrainE-TraidE, bringing suitable courses in-house for candidates wherever possible. Having been coordinator of courses since TrainE-TraidE began, Debbie is delighted that TrainE-TraidE is providing men and women with options which will enable them to achieve their potential.

Dalia Davis

Dalia Davis, originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, qualified as a school teacher and went on to complete a postgraduate degree in business at the University of Witwatersrand Business School. In London she completed her Masters degree in Human Resource Management at Middlesex University. She has worked primarily in human resource development roles, at KPMG Consulting and the London Borough of Brent. Dalia is responsible for projects including the internships, placements and the mentoring scheme. As a qualified MBTI practitioner she is also involved in administering the personality assessment tool. She also assists in the development of business seminars, with subjects specifically focused on issues experienced by business start-ups.

Traine-Traide’s services are offered from state of the art offices situated at 314 regents Park road, Finchley, London. The centre occupies approximately 2,100ft2 and includes a dedicated IT suite with interactive teaching programs, fully equipped lecture rooms, meeting rooms and fully serviced offices for new Traine-Traide businesses. Our centre is utilised as flexi accommodation, shared by all, ensuring maximum optimisation of the space. All those at TrainE-TraidE benefit from a bright, modern and pleasant learning environment with up-to-date technology to support their studies.

As part of the full turnkey solution, Traine-Traide assists with the establishment of new businesses. The extent of Traine-Traide’s support depends on the individual business’s requirements and could include a one-off mentoring session, advice on a business plan, attendance to business seminars or full business incubation.

Full business incubation is a non-profit service which offers the infrastructure, services and finance needed to establish and develop new businesses. This includes serviced offices, access to our wide network of industry contacts as well as the possibility of seed funding. each business is monitored very closely and is guided by a mentor with specific expertise in the area in which the business operates. Traine-Traide is currently supporting twelve businesses with a number in the pipeline.

In today’s highly professional and competitive business world, it is essential that all training and business support be at a level that is on par with the demands of the ‘real world’.

How the Incubator Works• Pre incubation stage – Assessing viability of the

business concept, appropriate business skills of

the management team, suitability to the TrainE-

TraidE guidelines and to bring the company to

incubation / investment readiness

• Traine-Traide incubation – The company will

be accepted to TrainE-TraidE and will have

access to all TrainE-TraidE services

- Accountancy - In the pre incubation stage this will be to help develop general business financials, i.e. budget, cash flow projections etc…

- Legal support to include employment, trademark and general corporate services

- Access to TrainE-TraidE’s network of industry contacts – we have a large network of contacts in many industries. They will be accessible to help with business development or in other ways as is necessary

• Mentoring – this is a proven powerful development tool that helps entrpreneurs successfully develop their business by capitalising on the experience of other successful business professionals. A mentor acts as a ‘sounding board’ for new ideas. They will often have been through similar experiences and become confidential advisers which will stimulate professional development. Incubated business will be assigned a dedicated mentor with expertise in their specific sectors to offer advice and help guide the company, especially in the early stages of development.

Funding • Investment – TrainE-TraidE has a stand alone fund for

the purpose of providing seed capital loans to new companies. These funds will be provided through TrainE-TraidE, as needed and only if the investors deem the company suitable.

Acceptance Guidelines There are a number of guidelines as follows:

• The company must comprise three or less people

• The directors must meet with TrainE-TraidE bi-monthly

• The entrepreneurs must be deemed “mentorable” by the TrainE-TraidE acceptance panel

• The businesses will be incubated for a maximum of 24 months

Business Area Focus TrainE- TraidE will only take on board business ventures to which it can provide a real added value service and will therefore focus on business areas where it has expertise. TrainE-TraidE will focus on the following business sectors: • Retail • IT • Property and related services • Professions and financial services

Traine-Traide hosts business seminars aimed at new and existing businesses. We have and will continue to partner with industry experts and government organisations to ensure we deliver seminars that are informative, current and relevant. The intention is that people leave these seminars with advice, guidance and added value that will make a real difference to their businesses.

Managing Your Cash Flow (Dov Harris, Cohen Arnold)This workshop was developed to help attendees understand the basic principles of accounting. It included having a brief look at profit and loss, cash flow projections and controlling costs.

sales and Direct Marketing – Building and retaining sales relationships in Tough Times (Joanna Sadie, Leapfrog and Daniel Lyons, Rocket Products)This seminar gave those attending advice on the sales process. It covered direct selling, income generation and creating an action plan.

Pr – raising the Profile of the Business (Shimon Cohen, The PR Office)This seminar focused on giving businesses practical tools and tips for using PR to raise the profile of their business and ultimately increase profitability.

raising Capital - Why raising £100,000,000 is easier than raising £100,000? (Maurice Benisty, GE Capital)This seminar gave delegates information on raising capital for early stage companies.

Marketing and sales strategy for Business survival and Growth and Business Consultations (with business advisers, legal, financial and business planning experts) – Business Link in London, Richard Denton (Stock Fraser Denton), Dov Harris (Cohen Arnold)This seminar was developed by Business Link in London to assist businesses with considering marketing and sales strategies. One to one business consultations were set up after the seminar for businesses to meet with professionals and to discuss specific business issues.

Traine-Traide offers the following options to complement the career guidance interview.

A Career Management ProgrammeThis on-line programme will assess your responses to a number of questions to produce a list of the most likely occupations that will suit you, together with details of what each profession involves and the routes to entry for it. This is a helpful tool to complement the outcomes and goals set at interview.

Psychometric testingThis will be recommended at interview, where appropriate. The psychometric test used at TrainE-TraidE gauges occupational interests and aspects of personality preferences. The results of these are interpreted by our consultant who will provide you with a report and recommendations in a subsequent feedback session.

CV writing, interview skills and job readinessTrainE-TraidE offers workshops as well as one-to-one sessions to help you with the life skills necessary for an effective job search. Our unique bespoke workshops and one to one sessions give vital tips and tools to help those searching for a job in these difficult times. As potential employers will receive many CVs, it is important to ensure that our candidates stand out. In addition there are techniques that can be used when interviewing, that are proven to increase chances of success.

Job placement programme We have a jobs database utilising our extensive business contacts, where we can place candidates once we have met with them and assisted with their CV writing and interview skills.

To date more than 700 individuals as well as many local schools have benefited from TrainE-TraidE’s careers guidance sessions and workshops.

Q. Can I take your courses if I am not based in London?

A. We run both part time and full time courses. These take place over a maximum of 2 days a week. This means that students can feasibly commute from other cities in the United Kingdom, and even from Europe.

Q. I understand that Traine-Traide provides British recognised Qualifications. If I go to live abroad will I be able to use my qualification or will I have to re-train?

A. It is common for countries to have different training policies for professions. It will depend on which country you move to and what the training requirements are for your profession.

Q. Can I work immediately after having received my qualification?

A. TrainE-TraidE’s mission is to enhance employment opportunities and all our qualifications are geared to lead directly towards employment. Upon completion of your course of study, you may find it useful to embark upon our job readiness programme to bridge the gap to employment.

Q. How can I train and qualify to become a Teacher?

A. To become a teacher you need to attain QTS (Qualified Teacher Status). This is achieved by completing your ITT (Initial Teacher Training) and postgraduate training. The ITT involves completing a degree, which ideally should link with the subject you intend to teach. You can also do a specific degree in Education. Once you have completed your degree – which can be accessed through distance learning or by going to University, you need to apply for the post graduate stage of qualification.

There are several Postgraduate Teacher Training Programmes:

PGCE – Post Graduate Certificate in Education.

SCITT – School Centred Initial Teacher Training

GTP – Graduate Teacher Programme.

Once you successfully complete any one of these, you gain QTS and are qualified to teach in schools throughout the UK.

TrainE-TraidE can help with the completion of application forms needed when applying for a particular course as well as assistance in writing personal statements.

An integral part of TrainE-TraidE’s remit is not to limit anyone from embarking on a particular course of study due to financial constraints. TrainE-TraidE offers a limited number of scholarships for its students and candidates are able to apply for funding for assistance towards the tuition costs of the courses. Alternatively TrainE-TraidE can offer flexible payment plans to help ease the burden of having to afford the full cost of the course up-front.

Government grants are available for tuition of certain courses, to those eligible for them, usually aged between 16-18. Some government grants are available for tuition of certain courses to candidates up to 23 years of age.

As part of general choice awareness and to address vocational immaturity later in life, TrainE-TraidE offers interactive workshops to schools. These include occupational awareness, interview skills and CV writing. Students are welcome to contact the TrainE-TraidE office for individual appointments.

This course is specifically aimed at candidates who have creative skills and are able to support this with a portfolio of work when called for interview.

This intensive one-year programme will provide candidates with a thorough grounding in the graphic and typographic design skills needed for working in publishing, design practices and advertising.

The introductory phase of the programme concentrates on developing the skills and knowledge of the design process while exploring their creative potential and areas of interest.

The second phase provides the candidate with the opportunity to extend and apply their skills and ideas within a specialist area related to graphic design such as illustration, typography, advertising design or digital design.

The course culminates in a major design project which draws together the various strands of learning covered during the first two phases.

Throughout the course candidates are supported by lectures, studio projects, workshops and tutorials.

Candidates are offered enrichment modules as part of this diploma. Examples of the enrichment modules include: desktop publishing, photography, animation etc.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

GCSE in Maths and English grades C and above. A previous qualification in bookkeeping is desired, although a supplementary bookkeeping course can be taken during the AAT level 3 course if a candidate does not have this prerequisite.

The AAT is an internationally recognised qualification amongst thousands of employers worldwide. It is awarded by the Association of Accounting Technicians, which is the largest body of accounting technicians in the UK today. Accounting Technicians work at all levels – from accounts Clerks to Financial Controllers in all industries and sectors. Following completion of the Level 4 AAT qualification, further accountancy professional qualifications can be studied. Exemptions are granted from most professional qualifications for candidates with AAT qualification, such as ACCA, ATT, CIMA, and ICAS.

This course is provided for TrainE-TraidE by Kaplan Financial, on our premises. Candidates begin Level 3, which assumes prior bookkeeping experience. If a candidate does not have any previous bookkeeping experience, an additional course within the AAT course will be required. Leveling tests are available which will determine which level of the AAT course candidates are suited to study towards.

This intensive course allows for candidates to work at the same time as studying. There may be funding opportunities for those who are in related employment, are UK residents and non graduates.

This course provides a basic training and a solid grounding in psychotherapy and counselling skills. This is achieved by combining academic, practical and experiential components within a supportive but challenging framework.

This course comprises three 10 week terms, with students attending one 4-hour session per week. Each session includes a lecture/discussion period, extensive skills and practice work, and concludes with a one hour Personal & Professional Development group. Three written papers are required, two by the end of term 2 and one on the completion of the course, for which tutorials are available.

On this course, candidates will acquire a basic knowledge and understanding of a range of psychotherapy and counselling theory, with the main focus on the existential-phenomenological, psychodynamic and humanistic/integrative perspectives. Cognitive/behavioural approaches are also covered.

This course provides an intermediate pre-professional training, and includes taught, clinical, experiential and self-directed components. Successful graduates of the programme will be able to go on to the final stage of training that leads to eligibility for UKCP registration as integrative or existential psychotherapists.

Candidates on the course will acquire a broad body of knowledge in theories of psychotherapy, showing understanding of the work of key historical and contemporary figures. They will prepare for psychotherapy practice by acquiring skills in the controlled environment of the classroom.. Candidates will have the opportunity to gain clinical experience applying knowledge of theory and acquired skills in an approved clinical placement under the supervision of experienced practitioners.

Upon completion of the first year, a candidate would exit the programme with a Post-Graduate Certificate in Psychotherapy and Counselling. After the full two year course, a candidate obtains the Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling.

Once a candidate has completed the two year course with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling, it is possible for them to submit a 15,000-to-20,000 word dissertation (within a maximum of four years). They may then exit the programme with an MA in Psychotherapy and Counselling.

Students are required to be in individual therapy of at least one hour a week throughout the course with a UKCP registered therapist.

Students must undertake a supervised clinical placement from the end of Year 1.

Each trainee is assigned a personal tutor who is available to offer guidance and support through the course.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates must have successfully completed the Foundation course in Psychotherapy and Counselling and posses a breadth of life experience and show a significant degree of personal maturity. The TEFL course will be The Trinity Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CertTESOL). This course is designed for those with little or no experience of teaching English. It gives an introduction to the theory and practice of contemporary English teaching and an insight into the challenges facing the learner and the role of the teacher.

The course is accredited in England by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority at Level 4. This is equivalent to first year university study.

Candidates must have competence in spoken and written English, and an ability to explain relevant features of English to learners in a communicative context. They must be able to work co-operatively as a member of a training group and respond constructively to feedback on personal performance.

Prior to the course commencing the participants will need to complete an application form for the course and undergo an interview with course tutors.

This role provides flexibility, the ability to freelance and will be lucrative. It is possible to build up a good reputation and hence a constant flow of work.

Candidates should have good intelligence and common sense, a desire to learn new things and be discreet. They must be interested in basic biology and psychology and have a caring nature and a good work ethic.Modules covered include:

• Physiology of labour, delivery, and puerperium

• Care of newborn infants

• Child development and children’s needs

• Post natal nutrition

• Psychology of the family

• Understanding yourself in relation to employer

• Employment, tax and insurance

Candidates are expected to work for up to 30 hours in a practical setting (work experience) depending on their experience.

Candidates are assessed through ongoing assessment, a mid-term written assignment and a final multiple choice exam.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

It is recommended that candidates should have achieved a level of education equivalent to 5 GCSE’s, however exceptions will be made for candidates with appropriate life skills.

Candidates will need to attend an interview and submit 2 references prior to being accepted onto the course.

CompTIA A+ certification confirms a technician’s ability to perform tasks such as installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance and basic networking. ciSco certified network aSSociate (ccna)

This certification validates the ability to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot medium-size route and switched networks, including implementation and verification of connections to remote sites in a Wide Area Network. CCNA curriculum includes basic mitigation of security threats, introduction to wireless networking concepts and terminology, and performance-based skills.

This course provides options for careers in property, quantity surveying, construction management, building surveying and as a licensed home inspector. It is a 2-year course distance learning course where candidates should expect to commit about 15 hours a week studying for 42 weeks of each year. Candidates should be in relevant employment or have organised a suitable mentor. On successful completion, candidates can enrol on a BSc degree course and thereby become eligible to work towards full Membership of the RICS and/or the CIOB.

In order to embark on the NVQ, a candidate must be working for a minimum of 16 hours per week. The level a candidate chooses to embark on will be a joint decision between the candidate, employer and assessor. The chosen level must reflect the candidate’s current employment role.

The structure of the NVQ requires the candidate to meet with the assessor and together with observations of the candidate’s work; a portfolio of evidence will be compiled. This is submitted to the examination board for evidence. The units completed will be a combination of mandatory and optional units. NVQs usually take between 6 and 18 months to complete.
