ADVANCED BIKE HANDLING SKILLS ARE REQUIRED TO USE THESE TRAILS
HIKING SAFETY• Never hike alone • Be prepared for weather changes• Observe all closures. Stay on marked trails.• Steep slopes are very dangerous. You may encounter various hazards and unstable surfaces.• Carry water, sunscreen and a watch. DRONESThe use of commercial drones is only permitted with the express written consent of Blue Mountain Resort. The use of any personal drones is strictly prohibited.
THE SMART WAY TO STARTThere’s no avoiding the inherent risks of mountain biking, but there are actions you can take as a rider to minimize the possibility of a crash or injury. Trails change due to a number of factors including weather and riding traffic. All riders, regardless of skill level or age, should employ the “Pre-Ride, Re-Ride, Free-Ride” mantra on every visit to the Bike Park.
PRE-RIDE Start slowly and build your speed to learn the trail and identify the appropriate riding line
RE-RIDE Familiarize yourself with the flow of the trail, and gradually begin building your speed as you become more comfortable
FREE-RIDE Only once you’re warmed up, familiar with the trail and feeling comfortable
NEW RIDERS If you’re new to the sport of downhill mountain biking, we suggest you start your ride on our beginner trail, The Groove. Move on to The Gulch only once you’re warmed up and feeling comfortable.
We recommend all riders take a lesson on their first visit to the Bike Park. Visit Activity Central to learn more about our program options.
EXPERIENCED RIDERS Like a cup of hot coffee in the morning, starting your day with a casual warm-up run on The Groove or Minion’s Rush is the right way to get your body and mind prepared for a day of riding.
