The new Prestige custom paving is an extension of our already popular paving range and is produced using a vibro-cast method. By removing air from the aggregate during the casting process , the Prestige paving offers greater strength and a higher quality finish. It is the flexibility of design which is really appealing to our architect customers. Because the Prestige vibro-cast paving is batch cast, we can develop a product with strong colour matching in a material which ties in with the design landscape. The Prestige range comes in a range of sizes and is finished with an antique riven, dapple or textured profile pattern which is produced using a former cast from a natural stone pattern. Each profile pattern is available in white, black, yorkstone, cloburn red and grey. NEWS AND VIEWS FROM THE HOME OF STREET FURNITURE FEBRUARY 2014

We have unveiled a new paving range for architects looking for bespoke design solutions.

What’s more, because we have our own manufacturing facility we can also produce edgings, steps and drainage channels to coordinate with your scheme design and produce a wide range of pre-cast copings and architectural dressings.

You can view the spec sheet for our Prestige range at www.townscapeproducts.co.uk or call Jess Fergusson on 01623 513355 for more information.

When North Ayrshire County Council required posts and rails to withstand the harsh environment of the Largs coastline, Performa-Cast™ more than proved its worth.Performa-Cast posts and rails feature an engineering grade polyurethane cast over a steel core.

They offer all the aesthetic benefits of cast iron combined with the enhanced performance of steel but with greatly superior durability. The posts and rails are lighter, stronger and, crucially for the coastline, highly resilient to rust in saline environments.

We manufactured 420 metres of bespoke Performa-Cast posts and rails, designed to Largs’ heritage style. And with virtually no maintenance requirements, North Ayrshire’s Performa-Cast posts and rails are five

times more cost effective than cast iron equivalents.

about Performa-Cast™.

When Bristol’s largest primary school, Air Balloon Hill, required a sustainable and cost-effective canopy to link the old and new buildings on their site, we knew exactly what would work best.

With local public sector austerity showing no signs of abatement designers, contractors, architects and landscape suppliers like us are always keeping an eye on emerging sectors.

I read with interest that the education sector in the UK is really set to boom this year with more than £2bn extra being made available for school buildings to create the additional school places that will be needed by 2017. This is in addition to the £5bn already allocated for 2011-2015.

The Priority School Building Programme is tasked to re-construct or repair 261 schools by the end of 2017 and universities competing to attract students will no doubt create a strong area of investment.

With a solid track record of designing and manufacturing landscape products for the education sector, we’re excited by the opportunities this will create and I’m looking forward to working closely with designers and architects in creating attractive, bright and innovative places for our young people to learn.

We’ve recently finished a project at Bristol’s largest school which is featured on this page. It is a great example of specialists in a sector coming together to deliver over and above client expectations.

TOWNSCAPE LINKSTHE OLD AND NEWAT AIR BALLOON HILL PRIMARY

Working closely with project contractors, Skanska, we supplied two bespoke 35 metre canopy shelters composed of FSC certified piqua hardwood.

To ensure maximum strength we opted for a glulam method of construction, comprising a number of

layers of dimensioned timber bonded together with durable, moisture resistant structural adhesives.

The majority of canopy shelters tend to be constructed using steel but the glulam timber canopy achieved both style and eco objectives and resulted in an extremely happy client.

You may have read about our popular PAS 68 approved hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) security system, the CT Block, in past issues of Townscape Times. We have now extended our range of HVM security products to include security bollards, barriers and planters. Here’s an introduction to the complete PAS 68 CT security range.

FOUR OF THE BEST

// See our perimeter security products at www.townscapeproducts.co.uk

The CT Block is not only a highly effective deterrent to hostile vehicle incursion, it has been tested to prevent vehicles driven with criminal intent from encroaching into a protected area. The CT Block has been designed using natural materials to be sympathetic to the environment and can be installed with integrated seating, providing a functional facility on top of enhanced security. Requiring only 100mm deep foundations, the system is simple and cost effective to install and has been used at airports, venues and high profile buildings across the UK.

Our CT Bollard range has been successfully BSI PAS 68 impact tested stopping 7500kg vehicles travelling at 50mph. Available in either painted powder coated finish or stainless steel, our CT Bollard range offers practical and stylish functionality combined with hostile vehicle mitigation security.

It is also possible to create a heritage design sleeve for the bollard using our Performa-cast polymer technology.

Say goodbye to paint

* Cost comparison based on cumulative maintenance costs of 100 bollards over a ten-year period assuming cast iron bollards are re-painted every two years at a cost of £30 per bollard. Performa-cast™ requires no maintenance for 10 years.

is a new range of non-rusting polymer street furniture that looks just as good as cast iron and steel but doesn’t require on-going maintenance. In fact, it’s proven to be five times more cost effective* than cast iron, as well as being lighter, stronger and less attractive to metal thieves.
