About the courseThis course focuses on the 'world' oftourism, the 'world' of the tourist, thevirtual and real 'world' of travel andtourism and the 'world' of employment intourism.

The course is about how you will fit intothat changing world of tourism, achievedby giving you access to knowledge about21st Century destinations, managementpractices, marketing techniques andproducts.

How you’ll learnYou will be taught using lectures andgroup seminars. And as we have an 'opendoor policy', you'll be able to speak toyour tutor if you need extra help with yourstudies.

FieldtripsDuring your first year, you will go onseveral fieldtrips and visits to tourismservice providers, such as airports, statelyhomes and local tourism hotspots,including Dovedale and the Derwent ValleyHeritage Corridor.

Your careerOur students succeed in findingemployment in the tourism industry. Graduates went into roles from AustralianTourist Board to Maldives Tourist Board,Destination Management Officer to TravelCounsellor, Airline Ground and Flight Crewto Ground Handling Agent, HotelMarketing Officer to Regional MarketingOfficer, Travel Account Officer to CallCentre Agent/Reservations Officer andBusiness Travel Consultant to Tour Guide.“The industry is global, the employment isglobal”. You could also go onto study ourMA Tourism Management.

Where you will study: Buxton Campus. This is our secondcampus and is 1 hour’s drive away fromour main campus in Derby.

Entry requirements: Academic – 260 UCAS tariff points, ofwhich at least 220 must be from your International Baccalaureate orequivalent qualification.

Duration: 3 years full time. With an optionalplacement year, 4 years.
