1.SSC Ultimate AeroThe SSC Ultimate Aero is a powerful engine sports car manufactured by Shelby SuperCars. The precious SSC Ultimate Aero TT is the world’s fastest production car, which travels at a top speed of 257 mph.The new version known as 2009 SSC Ultimate Aero has been modified where some changes have been added to the exteriors, interiors, and the increase of horsepower about 15%. The most important change is the single piece aluminum block engine that improves the oiling capabilities and structure of the engine, so that the SSC Ultimate Aero produces an output of about 1287 horsepower.

Page 4: Top 10 Fastest Car in the World (2)

At the cost of $654,000 and with a newly designed engine, the Ultimate Aero can reach a maximum speed of 270 mph, which is a world record speed. It can reach from 0 to 60 mph in 2.7 secs. The front face of the car has been redesigned with improved aerodynamics and carbon fiber which draws 20% additional air to the radiators for better cooling.

The AeroBrakeTM system has been introduced in this car which is a rear spoiler system that can be controlled by a switch. The spoiler speed can be set depending on the pressure applied on the brake pedal.

Not just a super car that carries on the name of racing driver Pierre Veyron, who, while racing for the original Bugatti car manufacturer, won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1939, Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is the second fastest car in the world and the most powerful, it can easily pass as a super hero`s car like Batman. It has the fastest acceleration speed, reaching 60 mph in 2.6 seconds.

Endowed with W16 engine-16 cylinders in 4 banks of 4 cylinders fed by four turbochargers, a dual-clutch DSG computer-controlled manual transmission, the Veyron has a length is 4462 mm (175.8 in) a wide of 1998 mm (78.7 in) and hight of 1206 mm (47.5 in). Counting a sum of 10 radiators, for the engine cooling system, for transmission oil, a heat exchanger for the air to liquid intercoolers, for engine oil etc., the car has a power to weight ratio of 529 bhp/tonne.

If we talk about performance we are dazzled by this supercars power to reach 200 and 300 km/h (124 and 186 mph) in 7.3 and respectively 16.7 seconds, wining for herself the name of the quickest-accelerating production car in history. If we count the fact that the top speed of Bugatti Veyron is 253.2 miles per hour (407.5 km/h), a speed limited electronically to prevent tire damage (it can run even faster) we can understand why this spectacular car must consume 40.4 L/100 km (4.82 mpg) when it`s running at top speed and A model drove by superstars like Tom Cruise, couldn`t name itself cheap, rising the Bugatti Veyron at least of $1,700,000, a price that measures it`s quality. Engine The engine of a Koenigsegg CCX at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show While previous Koenigsegg models were powered by an engined based on

the Ford Modular V8 engine sourced from the U.S., and modified by Koenigsegg, the engine of the CCX was designed by Koenigsegg themselves and is built ground up in the Koenigsegg factory. The Engine block is cast for them by Grainger & Worrall, a British company that produces drivetrain components for Formula One cars. The engine is a 4.7 liter 288 cu in (4,719 cc) V8, with dual overhead camshafts and 4 valves per cylinder. The engine block is made of 356 Aluminium that has undergone a T7 heat treatment, a form of accelerated precipitation strengthening. The aluminium alloy is stronger than the previous engine and allows a thinner, thus lighter, engine block that will withstand higher cylinder pressures. The engine is boosted by two centrifugal superchargers that provide 17.5 psi (1.2 bar) of boost with an 8.2:1 compression ratio. The engine produces 806 bhp (601 kW; 817 PS) at 6900 rpm and 678 lb·ft (919 N·m) of torque at 5700 rpm on 91 octane (U.S. rating) gasoline. The engine is lubricated with a dry sump system with a separate oil pump, the pistons are cooled by oil sprayed onto them and the oil itself has an external cooler. The CCX engine burns 14 mph.

Chassis The chassis comprises a space frame-derived design consisting 4130 lightweight

steel and aluminum honeycomb composite reinforcing panels. It is divided into bolt-fastened sub-assemblies to allow for rapid access to critical subsystems. The light weight of the chassis allows for the car to weigh a mere 2750 pounds (1247 kg).

Engine The original Saleen S7 sported a 7-liter (7008 cc/427.6 cu in), naturally-aspirated, all-

aluminum OHV V8 engine, mounted at 90° approximately in the middle of the chassis for a balanced mid-engine layout that delivered power to the rear wheels while keeping the center of gravity towards the middle of the car, improving overall performance. Each cylinder is lubricated via a dry sump system, has two stainless steel valves per cylinder, a compression ratio of 10.0:1, and a bore and stroke of 4.125 and 4.00 inches (104.9 and 101.6 mm), respectively. The original engine developed a maximum power of 550 horsepower (558 PS/410 kW) at 6400 rpm and a maximum torque of 525 foot-pounds (712 N·m) at 4000 rpm. The redline rpm is indicated at 6500 rpm.A pair of ball-bearing turbos were added for the 2005 model year, increasing horsepower to 750 bhp (559 kW; 760 PS).

The engine is connected to a 6-speed manual transaxle with full synchromesh, a, 4-plate clutch and a limited slip differential.

Performance The S7 can accelerate from 0–60 miles per hour (97 km/h) in an estimated 3.9

seconds, and to 100 miles per hour in an estimated 8.1 seconds,It can complete a standing quarter mile in an estimated 11.75 seconds, reaching 126 miles per hour (203 km/h).The maximum top speed of the car is 210 miles per hour (340 km/h).

Page 14: Top 10 Fastest Car in the World (2)

ExteriorA Speedlab yellow Saleen S7The body of the car, made entirely from carbon fiber, incorporates the use of scoops, spoilers, and other aerodynamic features to create split-channel airflow throughout the car, and at 160 miles per hour (257 km/h), the car creates its own weight in downforce. Theoretically, the car produces enough downforce to drive upside down.InteriorThe interior of the Saleen S7 was designed to be both luxurious and functional. Leather appears throughout the cabin, with aluminum accents, and the S7 comes with a set of custom-fit luggage. Because of the car's mid-engine layout, it has two trunks, front and rear. Other features include an LCD monitor, rear-view camera, quick-release steering-wheel and a 240 mile per hour (386 km/h) speedometer. The cabin is of an asymmetrical layout, with the custom-fitted driver's seat positioned toward the center both to improve the driver's visibility and center their weight in the vehicle.

Performance In terms of sheer top speed, the F1 remains as of 2008 one of the

fastest production cars ever made; as of July 2008 it is only succeeded by the Koenigsegg CCR,the Bugatti Veyron and the SSC Ultimate Aero TT. However, all of the superior top speed machines exploit forced induction to reach their respective top speeds – making the McLaren F1 the fastest naturally aspirated production car in the world.

Page 17: Top 10 Fastest Car in the World (2)

Record claims The title of "world's fastest production road car" is constantly in

contention, especially because the term "production car" is not well-defined.

The McLaren F1 has a top speed of 231 mph (372 km/h),restricted by the rev limiter at 7500 rpm. The true top speed of the McLaren F1 was reached in April 1998 by the five-year-old XP5 prototype. Andy Wallace (racer) piloted it down the 9 km straight at Volkswagen’s Ehra test track in Wolfsburg, Germany, setting a new world record of 240.1 mph (386.4 km/h) at 7800 rpm.As Mario Andretti noted in a comparison test, the F1 is fully capable of pulling a seventh gear, thus with a higher gear ratio or a seventh gear the McLaren F1 would probably be able to reach an even greater top speed—something which can also be observed by noticing that the top speed was reached at 7800 rpm while the peak power is reached at 7400 RPM.

6.Ferrari Enzo

Page 19: Top 10 Fastest Car in the World (2)

Engine Main article: Ferrari Dino engine#V12 The Enzo is a mid-engined car with a 43.9/56.1 front/rear weight

distribution. The engine is Ferrari's F140 65° V12 with 4 valves per cylinder, dual overhead cams and variable valve timing. Bosch Motronic ME7 fuel injection is used and the engine is naturally aspirated. It displaces 5998 cc (366 in³) and produces 660 PS (651 hp/485 kW) at 7800 rpm and 657 N·m (485 [ft·lbf of torque]) at 5500 rpm.The redline is 8000 rpm.

Chassis The Enzo has a semi-automatic transmission (also known as the F1

gearbox) using paddles to control an automated shifting and clutch mechanism, with LED lights on the steering wheel telling the driver when to change gears. The gearbox has a shift time of just 150 milliseconds. The transmission was a first generation "clutchless" design from the late 1990s, and there have been complaints about its abrupt shifting.

The Enzo Ferrari has 4 wheel independent suspension with push-rod actuated shock absorbers which can be adjusted from the cabin, complemented with anti-roll bars at the front and rear.

The Enzo uses 483-millimetre (19 in) wheels and has 381-millimetre (15 in) Brembo disc brakes.

Page 20: Top 10 Fastest Car in the World (2)

Performance The Enzo can accelerate to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 3.3

secondsand can reach 100 mph (160 km/h) in 6.6 seconds. The ¼ mile (~400 m) time is 11.0 at 136 mph (219 km/h) and the top speed is around 349 kilometers per hour (219 mph).It is rated at 12 miles per US gallon (20 L/100 km; 14 mpg-imp) in the city and 18 miles per US gallon (13 L/100 km; 22 mpg-imp) on the highway.

Despite the Enzo's extraordinary performance and price, the Ferrari 430 Scuderia (an improved version of Ferrari's current mid-range production car) is capable of lapping the Ferrari test track just as quickly as the Enzo.

Evo magazine tested the Enzo on the famed Nordschleife Circuit and ran a 7:25.21 lap time. The Enzo in the test had a broken electronic damper

Speed record In 1992 at the Nardò Ring, Martin Brundle drove an XJ220 to 212.3 mph

(341.7 km/h). The car's catalytic converters sap the engine of an estimated 60 bhp (45 kW), and they were later disconnected and the rev limiter was increased from 7200 rpm to 7900 rpm in a quest to make the XJ220 go even faster. On a later run with the modifications, Brundle took the XJ220 to 217.1 mph (349.4 km/h) (the equivalent to approximately 223 mph (359 km/h) on a straight road)..

Racing version A racing version called the XJ220C was also made. The XJ220C, driven by Win

Percy won its first race, a round of the BRDC National Sports GT Challenge at Silverstone. Three works XJ220C's were entered in the 1993 Le Mans 24 Hour race, in the newly created Grand Touring Class. Two of the cars retired but one XJ220, driven by John Nielsen, David Brabham and David Coulthard took the checkered flag to take a class win. This, however, was revoked two weeks later, when the XJ220C was disqualified for a technical infringement.

An XJ220 would also be used in the Italian GT Championship in the early 1990s, although this car had no factory support

8.Pagani Zonda F

Page 24: Top 10 Fastest Car in the World (2)

The final Zonda in its current form is a combination of the Zonda F and Zonda R to create a road going track day car.

Built at the repeated request of the Hong Kong–based Pagani dealer, SPS Automotive Performance (in fact, initially it had to be called Zonda SPS), only five will be built at the cost of £1 million, with deliveries expected by June 2009 for all five cars.

The differences over other road-going Zondas are a new clutchless sequential gearchange, resulting in shifts now taking less than 100 milliseconds, dropping 0–62 mph down to 3.4 seconds, the Cinque (pronounced chin-kway) also has a revised form of carbon fibre which uses titanium to increase strength, suspension will make use of magnesium and titanium components, and the engine's power has been increased to 678 bhp (506 kW), revised bodywork now creates 750 kg (1,653 lb) of downforce at 300 km/h (186 mph), the Cinque is capable of generating 1.45 G of cornering force.

9. Lamborghini Murcielago

Page 26: Top 10 Fastest Car in the World (2)

Acceleration and Power Auto writers are blown away by the '09 Murcielago LP640's 6.5-liter V12

engine. It produces 631-horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 487 pound-feet of torque at 6,000 rpm. While a six-speed manual transmission is standard, a robotized gear shifting system (e-gear) is optional. Lamborghini reports that the coupe and roadster have a top speed of 211 mph and 205 mph, respectively. Both accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in only 3.4 seconds

Safety Neither the federal government nor insurance industry has crash tested

the '09 Murcielago. It does, however, come equipped with a host of active and passive safety features -- including front airbags, traction control, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, and a four-wheel drive system. A common reviewer complaint is that rearward visibility is hindered from the driver's seat.

2009 Lamborghini Murcielago price is $382,400

10.Porsche Carrera GT

Page 28: Top 10 Fastest Car in the World (2)

Developed in 1999, Porsche Carrera GT, manufactured by Porsche of Germany, is priced at $440,000 dollars. It is well worth its price if we count the 5.7 litre V10 engine producing 612 DIN (605 SAE) horsepower (450 kW) and the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (62.5 mph) in 3.9 seconds, touching a maximum speed of 330 km/h (205 mph). The design is stunning too, Carrera GT has a 5 colors paint schemes that includes: black, guards red, fayence yellow, basalt black, GT silver and seal grey. The innovating thing about this car is the way that its engine is placed: with the use of a clutch made of a high-tech ceramic material, it`s allowing the engine to sit lower in the chassis than in any other super car. This feature is not only making the Carrera GT a road car with the looks of a race one, but also improves its aerodynamics and lowers its center of gravity.
