Greetings visiter! My name is Anthony Willetts, but you can call me Tony. And this is my portfolio! Art has always been a major part of my life ever since I started copying my step-dads drawings of X-MEN characters. From there I realized that I had a thing for illustration and design. All throughout grade school I would draw in class and It would give me this feeling of satisfaction whenever I would gain the attention of my classmates or my teachers. So I realized that not only did I want to design for others, but myself as well. There is this satisfaction I get when working on a project from beginning to end. And all I want to do is share my creations with the world. One of my major goals is to create a graphic novel combining three things that I thoroughly enjoy to learn about. Those things being superheroes, technology, and mythology. I know it might seem like a strange combination but its been an idea I’ve had since middle school. The thing I hope to achieve from this is to reach a wide range of people from around the world and tell them a story that they have hopefully never heard before. Full of characters to love and hate that people can build connections to. Throughout my portfolio you will find a lot of work I’ve done over the last few years. You will also notice that a lot of my designs involve illustrations. Not only do I hope you are impressed, but understand my love for design. Soooooo... enjoy!

The Granite City Food & Brewery was the company I chose to create an annual report for as part of a project. One of my goals was to incorporate some color from the logo into the overall design of the report as you can see from the red bars that span the pages. The idea of using orange for some of the text came from viewing their selection of beer on the website.

I attempted to incorporate some illustration on some of the pages as well. Because the company sold beer and donuts I thought it would be appropriate to make them in the form of graphs.

The goal for this project was to create a convincing guest speaker poster and take away. The professional I chose to do was Chip Kidd. Famous for book cover designs, I wanted to incorporate them into my poster designs as much as possible. And I really think I nailed It!

The takeaway is also based off of designs Chip Kidd used in some of his book covers. I thought it would be interesting to have them be buttons. Something someone could be able to collect.

Based off of his Watching the Watchmen cover.

Based off of his Batman: The Dark Knight Returns cover.

Package DesignThis project was fun to take on because I found the opportunity to place some of my original works of art into the design. I created a book that not only doubled as a sketch pad but would also have a t-shirt and stickers with the design on them inside.

The display for the product is based off of a book shelf. I figured if the product was a book with other items inside, why not make it simple.

UI CampaignThe goal of this project was to create a convincing UI on three different platforms. I choose to design one for desktop, mobile, and a smartwatch. I based the project off of my love for horror and sci fi related movies and TV shows.

Home page Movie/Show page Search page

For the navigation menu I added a blood splatter to help the user identify what page they were currently on. As well as place another navigation bar on the bottom of the page used for general assistance with the application. I also miss spelled “Categories” intentionally to fit the theme.

UI CampaignI wanted to make sure that the mobile layout of the application gave a very similar feeling to the desktop version. Using the same show and the “Search” page helped get the point across.

Designing the smart watch UI was more complicated than I realized due to me having no knowledge that smart watches could control streaming services.

These are ads I designed in Photoshop. The idea for the ad was for it to be simple and sweet. Not too much text or anything else going on.

Logo Design

One thing I love doing is designing logos. Here are some of the logos I designed for projects throughout my portfolio.

This character design was made for a client that runs a handyman service. The design process was simple. I wanted to make a character carrying various tools. I was also asked to try and make the character look Hispanic.

The logo for my UI Campaign was fun to make because of the theme. I wanted to come up with a name and designed that go the point across that is is a horror related platform

TECH HAWK logo from my package design project.

After playing around with fonts I ultimately decided to write the logo for myself. I added the white drop shadow after I thought that the original design looked to plain

Chill Download the Chill app now for relaxing ambient sounds.

Other CampaignsThese ads I designed are based off of drawings from my sketch book. I thought it would be interesting to make them digital and turn them into part of a lipstick brand I named DARKSIDE. I wanted them to be as simple as possible and maybe a little bit dark. That’s why I started out with a vampire like theme for the first design. Then went for a less dark theme for the second design.

This started as an exercise with the purpose of making ads based off of photos given to me. I spent more time than I should have on the alien design, but I think it came out better than I expected. It gave me the ability to show my illustrations skills as well as my skills with Photoshop.

The ads purpose is to promote a calming app made for relaxation and meditation. I wanted the ads to look like the character was going through a “stressful” situation.

Character DesignsThis is my character design page. You can see character designs in other sections of my portfolio. But this page is dedicated to some character designs I keep in my sketchbooks. I enjoy drawing people the most because of how dynamic you can make them. I usually start out sketching a design in my sketchbooks then work on making them digital.

One of my goals is to make a graphic novel. This is one of the characters I’ve been working with. I don’t have a name for him yet. But the character was one of the best detectives in the world, only to later become a struggling PI.

These are some concept designs for other characters I would like to expand upon.

Digital WorkThese designs started out as sketches. I later made them digital, and they have become some of my favorite pieces. The idea I had was to draw a group of characters placed in the future once the technology for cybernetic body parts became a reality.

I also designed them with the intention of printing the design on t-shirts.

Digital WorkThe purpose of this project was to create a coloring book page for the MCCKC Penn Vally campus coloring book. I was part of the team that was responsible for designing illustrations. I wanted to make fun little designs that could be seen throughout the book, with one page dedicated to coloring only.

The final piece. All the illustrations were done in Photoshop.

Here are the process steps I took when it came to designing the coloring page. At first I wasn’t sure about placing the school mascot in the center of the page. As you can see I messed around with the idea of having an interactive puzzle.

Digital WorkHere you will find some digital art work I’ve done on my Ipad. Illustration has been a major passion of mine forever, and I will always prefer pencil and paper over a digital format. It’s taken some time learning the ins and outs of digital illustration.

Tattoo designs. Only two of these are actually tattooed on a friend of mine.

Some character posters. These took a lot of time due to me not knowing exactly how painting worked on the application I drew these on yet.

Art WorkThis is art work I’ve done using paper and various mediums. You can see ink drawings, watercolor paintings and a screen print of an early logo I made for myself.

LGBTQ+ painting I did for a little art gallery in Kansas City.

Early logo design. Screen printed using 3 layers.
